EXTERNAL FIREWATER NETWORK ISOLATION

Isolation will be done to find leakage in external fire network. Isolation of gate valves in
external fire network shall be performed in accordance with NFPA 25 (latest edition).
Isolation/impairment should be done with maximum level of safety to avoid any accident.
2.1 The Contractor’s Scope of Work shall comply what is stipulated in O&M Contract No.:
6600039823, Schedule B, Attachment II, Exhibit IV, Pages 37-38 of 50.
2.2 Contractor shall provide the required services in conducting isolation of main gate
valves in external fire network as per below method/procedure.
The risk management plan may call for the requirement of a fire watch. If necessary, the
contractor must provide appropriately trained personnel to carry out the task.
Contractor shall be responsible in providing the required materials, tools and equipment
to successfully conduct isolation of external firewater network.
9.1 Work permit duly signed and approved by concerned departments will be issued
prior to performing the isolation of external fire network.
9.2 Safety tool box talk shall be performed by safety department. Presence of safety
personnel is required during the performance of external fire network isolation.
9.3 All personnel conducting the isolation of external fire network shall wear
appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Contractor shall perform the isolation of external fire network according to the procedure
as detailed below:
8.1 Prior to closing of gate valve, the FAS and BMS teams shall be informed officially
for any possibility of fire alarm activation or any possible fire pumps operation.
Announcement shall be made via PAVA to inform all parties of the ongoing activity.
8.2 Contractor shall be forming two (2) teams and will be headed by Hard Services
Manager. Contractor personnel specifically certified fire protection engineer and
technicians, safety officer etc. shall be present in the specified locations during gate
valve closing. Each team shall have portable radio in its possession for proper
communication during testing.
8.2.1 Location 1 – For each gate valve being closed. The first team will lead this
activity and will inform the second team once the activity is already started.
They will also inform the latter once the activity is already finished for each
gate valve.
8.2.2 Location 2 – Fire Pump Room, Level 1, Section 7, Gridline 72-73. The
second team will receive information once the activity already started. They
will observe in the pump room for any pressure drop on pressure gauge to
find leakage in that specific area.
