SBI Scheme for Ashok Leyland ASHOK LEYLAND AND State Bank of India
have entered into a preferred partnership for
financing the entire range of Ashok Leyland

Vehicle Financing Launched commercial vehicle sales. It is a national level


tie-up covering all the States and Union Ter-
ritories of India through more than 9,000
branches of SBI - the largest banking net-
work in the country.
According to the MoU, SBI branches will
offer loans on soft terms to potential cus-
tomers for the purchase of any model from
the full range of Ashok Leyland vehicles. Be-
sides the obvious benefit to both the
organisations, customers stand to benefit
through soft loan at competitive interest,
quick processing, extended repayment sched-
ules and low margin offered by the scheme.
The scheme also provides working capital for
vehicle operators to meet fuel expenses etc.,
at competitive interest rates.
The market launch of the scheme was
made at Madurai, jointly with long-standing
dealership, T V Sundram Iyengar and Sons.

Back to School
At a function organized by Alwar's Labour Department, Ashok Leyland Alwar
distributed 500 school bags to children studying at schools run by the Child
Labour Project (Ministry of Labour), Government of India. The aim of the project
is to stop child labour and bring back the children to schools. The photograph
shows A K Chopra, Manufacturing Manager - Alwar, giving away a school bag to
a student.

THE ENCON TEAM from Ennore emerged a winner (in the Engineering
category) at the National Convention on Energy Conservation Initiatives
for Industries organized by the Andhra Pradesh Productivity Council (APPC)
at Visakapatnam.
Selected from among 10 industries, the team's project involved energy
saving methods in machine tools, furnaces, equipment, compressors,
utilities and pumps, saving nearly Rs 1.65 Crores. During a technical
discussion, the team's project on utilities was taken up for implementation
by L&T, Ultratech, Vizag Steel and TVS Motors.

Lakshya winners
Synchroniser - the CFT from Bhandara - was declared second
runner-up at Lakshya 2005, an annual contest conducted by
NITIE, Mumbai. They won the bronze trophy under the Operation
Management category.
