1. a. Socrates was wiser than Plato, and Plato was wiser than Aristotle.
b. Socrates was wiser than Aristotle.
 If it is true that Socrates was wiser than Plato, and Plato was wiser
than Aristotle, than it is also true that Socrates was wiser than
Aristotle.
BUT THE REVERSE DOES NOT FOLLOW.
If we know that Socrates was wiser than Aristotle, we cannot
conclude that Socrates was wiser than Plato, and Plato was wiser
than Aristotle.
