 TRABAJO FINAL BUSINESS ENGLISH PROGRAM

Our organization, Consultora Eléctrica Industrial (CEI), is a providing services

company in the power energy area; the services include engineering projects,
studies and training attending every phase of the energy process such as
generation, transmission, distribution and use of the electric energy. We offer
our clients different kinds of analysis and studies applied to the electrical
systems on issues related to: reduction of energy losses, process optimization
and rational use of energy, installation or expansion of the electrical
infrastructure when managing special loads, implementation of projects with or
related to renewable energies, studies of feasibility and analysis to determine
optimal connection points for new great customers. In certain cases, we
develop our own computational tools, for example in charge flow studies, short
circuit calculations or for diagnosing potential problems such as harmonics.
Optimization diagnostics are also carried out in companies with large energy
consumption, performing the respective surveys, measurements and analysis in
order to optimize the energy consumption and reduce the expenditure on billed
energy. By means of studies on energy quality, we can also determine the
potentially important returns that investments can achieve in the short and in the
medium term. We also work in consultancy studies for network operating
companies that include, among others, the diagnosis of infrastructure,
measurements, analysis and formulation of action plans oriented to reduce
technical and non-technical losses of energy in electrical distribution systems
with the proper recommendations for energy recovery.

We are now facing a new project for our company; it is about incorporating into
our range of services the study of lightning phenomena of arc. Proper
assessment of the levels of risk associated with arc flash can help reduce
downtime and ensure a safer work environment for our customers' personnel
working on or near electrical installations. We have received some information
that your company has designed a software that allows you to assess the
hazards and risks of arc flash at virtually any point in an industrial power grid.
We are interested in knowing if your product complies with the standards and
methods recognized by the industry for it; in particular, we want to know if it

complies with NFPA-70E 2015, (Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee
Workplaces) and IEEE-1584 2011, (Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard
Calculations). Likewise, we want to know if the program generates warning
labels, ready for printing and fixing to the electrical equipment; if so, please tell
us what are the different models of labels available and if they contain all the
necessary data so as to accomplish the standards such as the approximate
distances to the source of the arc, incident energy, energy density, a description
of the different personal protective equipment (EPP), the boundaries of
approach: limited, restricted and prohibited, etc.

We need to buy licenses of the software that you develop, so we would

appreciate it if you send us a budget to install it in two of our work stations, with
full functionality, indicating billing and payment conditions. In the case of
acquiring the licenses, according to our collaborative working policy, you can
consider our participation in the review teams of future beta versions of the
product.
