STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I have always found photography as a wide scope of expressing one's feelings in a different
perspective and since ancient eras photography is a crucial field in preserving the knowledge of
various fields be it wildlife, abstract, ancient cryptographs.etc. This is the major reason that I
want to pursue my Bachelors in Photography. Since childhood, I remember I used to love
clicking photographs of not humans but photographs of birds and animals also fascinated me.
Since the age of 9 I have been exploring different angles and using different cameras and
equipment. Whenever there used to be a family gathering, I remember, I was asked to click
photographs of my cousins and family as all knew I was best at it. Everyone used to rely on me
for presenting them better and covering the way they wanted. The smile on their face that I
used to see after getting clicked gave me so much relief and happiness. With time, I felt the
need to make my obsession with photography turn into my academic career. Many
experienced wildlife photographers as well marine biologists such as Martin Bailey, Jon
Cornforth and Stefano Unterthiner are my role models, who inspired me to take up the course
seriously as a career.

Apart from academics,in the year 2016 I was a part of an Indian Team which conducted an
underwater skill set of Longest Human Chain underwater, for which I was awarded and
registered by the Guiness Books of World Records. Apart from this achievement I am a licensed
Recreational Scuba Diver. I have participated in the State Snooker Championships as well as the
All India Sterilite Snooker Championship.
To be a good photographer, be in any field, basic knowledge about the types of cameras as well
as choosing the camera and the equipments as per self-comfort and the technical knowledge
about how to use them plays a crucial part.
After discussing with my parents and teachers, I have decided to pursue my Bachelor’s in
Photography in the UK. UK universities provideworld-class teaching, offer high student
satisfaction and research-led training environment. The country is known for its development,
growth and stability. I strongly believe that this Bachelor’s courseprovides the required skills
and overall thorough knowledge, theory and practical both, in an intensified way for me to
achieve success in my chosen field.I think this course will guide me through the basics of
photography to the most advanced technologies used in day to day life in this sector. This
course will bring out a different perspective from me and help me better my skills.
During my research I found that this course will allow me to undertake multiple projects into
different outputs such as publications, exhibitions and digital platforms, as well as events,
galleries, photography festivals and external visits.Due to lack of practical orientation, I wish to
study this course in the UK as UK universities lay emphasis on practical learning that is missing
in my home country. Also, the frequent visits of the guest lecturers sharing knowledge and skills
of the field and attending talks and seminars will certainly equip me with the technical
knowledge and professional skills. Also, I found that the Media Department is very promising as
it is continuing coming up with digital technologies, latest production techniquesand studio
facilities for students. Also, students can gain best practice tips from academic staff and
technicians on all elements of photographic work. I will get opportunities to network, publicise
and market my work outside the university.I wish to apply for the internships with the
renowned photographers as well as build up own strong profile.By taking the course I hope to
work as an esteemed freelance wildlife photographer in the specialised sector of endangered
species and marine biological life. I promise to give my best output and maintain the standard
of the university.I am all set to become a part of this creative sector.
