The metaphor in this song is “you’re a sky full of stars”.

It means that the person the author is writing about pretty much means
the world to the author. This person brightens up the author’s day and
brings light and happiness to his life.

We know this because the author says “I’m gonna give you my heart”.
The author would not give someone his heart unless he loves that person.
The author also states: “you light up the path”. Clearly this person makes
him happy.

Because this person is a “sky full of stars” to him, he is breaking down his
walls and opening himself up. If he is vulnerable and gets torn apart,
then so be it. We know this because he says: “I don’t care, go on and
tear me apart- I don’t care if you do”.
