Hook Begin with a question- when have you ever had to


have courage or be brave? What does it mean to
be patriotic?

Introduction Show them an example of a card, talk about how


veterans help us. What is a veteran exactly?

Guided practice Students will get a blank piece of paper to practice


writing/sounding out a note. I will have to approve
what they say before they begin independent
practice.

Independent Practice Students will pick a color for a card. will copy
their message onto the card and draw a picture.
Closure Students will help with cleaning up.
