ENTREPRENEUR AND EMPLOYEE

There are a lot of factors that can be attributed to entrepreneurial success


regardless of the goal, task, or activity being undertaken. Entrepreneurship is for people
with a dream or an aspiration to generate something in the marketplace. It creates
opportunities and opens the doors to possibilities you never knew existed.
Entrepreneurial Competencies refer to the important characteristics that should be
possessed by an individual to perform entrepreneurial functions effectively. To help you
become a prospective entrepreneur in animation you have to evaluate whether you are well
suited for starting your own business, assess what competencies you lack and/or possess,
and measure what type of individual competencies may strengthen your business. In this
lesson, you will learn some of the most important characteristics, attributes, lifestyle, skills,
and traits that an entrepreneur or employee must have to be successful in a chosen career.

LESSON 1: QUALITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR IN THE ANIMATION


INDUSTRY
Entrepreneurs in the animation industry are those who can merge art and
technology to create a business venture. Animation business in not about scale but about
domain expertise. The following are the competencies a successful entrepreneur in the
animation industry should possess.
1. They need to have a passion for animation.
2. They must have patience and complex set of skills to succeed in this people-driven
business.
3. They must have the skills in the area of technical expertise and have the learning
abilities for new technologies and have some qualification in animation to
understand the basics.
4. They need to have a certain amount of global sensibilities.
5. They must be creative, have a keen eye, and ability.
6. They need to have immerse conviction and patience for the work.
7. They should understand and respect art.
8. They need to attract customers with low cost but retain them for high quality.

LESSON 2: ANALYSIS OF PECs IN RELATION TO A PRACTITIONER’S


Practitioners entrepreneurs are individuals who practice a learned profession and
turned his or her profession into entrepreneurial activity.
Natural entrepreneurs are those individual with natural talent or gifted individuals
with accidentally discovered skills that they need to develop so that they can build their own
business.

ALIGN ONE’S PECs WITH THAT OF A PRACTITIONER

In today’s super competitive industry, it is important to ensure that your


competencies are aligned with that of a practitioner to become a successful entrepreneur in
the animation industry.
1. Learn the language Focus on those required medium in your organizational and
leadership culture so that you can identify the areas in which your skills may need to
be developed.
2. Know you focus by collecting feedback Know where you stand and how you are
perceived. An informal survey can be done to reveal your strengths and blind spots.
3. Narrow your focus Pick on or two areas you want to work on based on your
personal, professional, and organizational goals.
4. Be a work in progress Move on to the next set of competencies in the order of their
relevance and importance to your very specific situation once you get feedback. This
will indicate your accomplishmed goals in the areas you decided to develop.
