ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION
Sleep is one activity for humans to rest the body. Several studies have shown that sleep deprivation (SD) is
associated with degenerative diseases such as obesity, incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and
cardiovascular disease (CDV). Several studies have shown that sleep deprivation (SD) is linked to obesity,
and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT-2). Sleep deprivation can decreased energy metabolism so that it has an
impact on decreased leptin and increase in adipocyte inflammation which is a risk factor for obesity.
Occurrence of Obesity affects the value of Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist circumference (WC). In
addition, SD can cause increase hypothalamic activity which affects pancreatic beta cells can lead to
increased insulin resistance and decreased insulin sensitivity so that insulin cannot function properly
circulating blood sugar (BS) causing an increase in circulating BS. And increase of Blood Pressure (BP)
which is a risk factor for CDV. Besides that, increased CNS dan decrease the stimulus to the effector
causing an increase Reaction Time (RT) lead to slowing respon. Physical activity (PA) can increase energy
metabolism so as to prevent cardiometabolic risk factors for degenerative diseases.

METHODE
This research used pre and post test control trial for 6 weeks aimed to know the effect of SD and quantity
of PA on risk factor of degenerative diseases such as BMI, WC, BS, and BP value. A total of 60 students of
Medical Faculty University Yarsi, consisting of 30 peoples SD chronicles and good activity (To campus on
foot) and 30 peoples SD Chronicles less activity (using the vehicle to campus). Measurements of variables
BMI, WC and BS are done in the morning as much as 2 times the measurements (week 2 and week 5).

RESULT
Subjects with physical activity both get the mean difference value (delta) for each BMI, which is -0.13, the
value of WC: -1.9, and the BS value: -1.03. In the subject of physical activity, the average delta value of
BMI, WC and BS was 0.147, -0.33 and -5.97 respectively. On students enough physical activity, BP: -1.367
(±6.9) mmHg (systolic), -1.8 (±6.06) mmHg (diastolic), RT: 0.004 (±0.026) sec. On students less physical
activity BP: -0.97 mmHg (systolic), -2.23 mmHg (diastolic), RT: 0.001 sec. the value of BP (sistolic) more
decrease in students enough physical activity than student less physical activity and the opposite of BP
(diastolic) results. However, the result of RT on students enough physical activity is decrease and increase
on students less physical activity.

CONCLUSION
After 6 weeks, the difference in the value of BMI, WC, BS and BP (Cardiometabolic risk factors) was
greater in subjects with good physical activity. However, the result of RT on students enough physical
activity is decreases and increases on students less physical activity It shows that physical activity has a
positive effect on SD effects.
