About the Course
Introduction:
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has gained critical importance in today’s business
world. ERP is a business management system that integrates and supports the various
functional business modules of an enterprise. It automates repetitive tasks and integrates
business activities such as inventory management and control, order tracking, customer
service, finance and human resources.

Across the world, organizations, big and small, are implementing ERP systems to run
their operations more effectively and efficiently. ERP packages, when carefully chosen
and implemented, have resulted in increased productivity and dramatic rise in profits for
several organizations. But many ERP implementations have failed miserably resulting in
companies filing for bankruptcy. Thus, it is necessary to understand what it takes to
successfully implement an ERP system.

This course looks at ERP from three different perspectives, namely, people, process and
technology. It delves into the various aspects of ERP starting from its evolution to its
implementation. You will learn how ERP is being used by organizations for better
decision making. You will also discover the factors critical to the success of an ERP
implementation and understand the reasons for failure.
