You can quickly exfoliate at home using Sugar (ground one) and honey
Just rub in circular motion
So as not to wound Yourself and defeat the aim of what You are doing
Please do not exfoliate with very harsh stuff
It removes any traces of Cleanser which may clog pores if not removed.
c). TONING: Toning tightens up the pores and makes the Skin firm, fine and supple.
So,find a toner that suits Your skin
Different Skin types require differ types of toners

It also prevents unnecessary moisture loss from the Skin. It prevents formation of premature wrinkles.
Those with Dry Skin should use Oil based ones.
* All Skin types should make it a habit to Use Sunscreen. And wear protective clothing too.
Then if Your Skin is Normal,You are free to use anyone??

STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE MANUALLY

Oily, dry, normal, combination – these are all skin types with different needs. Determining your skin type
is an important first step in choosing the products and skin care regimen that will provide the best
results.

Determine your skin type: step by step

The best way to get a precise determination of your skin type is to consult your dermatologist, who will
not only help you find your skin type, but can also guide you to the proper regimen to address any skin
concerns and keep your skin its healthiest.

But it is possible to figure out your skin type on your own:

Step 1: Wash your face. Remove makeup and use a gentle cleanser. Make sure to remove all dirt and
makeup, but avoid over-washing or scrubbing. Gently pat dry.

Step 2: Wait. Wait at least one hour (preferable two hours) – this will give your skin time to “normalize”
or return to its natural state.

Step 3: Observe your skin closely. Determining your skin type can be done mostly by what you see and
feel. However, using a tissue to dab at your T-zone (your forehead and nose) can indicate if there is
excess oil in that area.

What do you see?

Normal Skin

If your skin feels smooth, with few to no imperfections, and no greasy or dry patches – congratulations,
you have normal skin!
Some other indicators of normal skin:

small, barely visible poresbreakouts are rare, if everlittle to no sensitivity

Dry Skin
If your skin feels rough, flaky, or tight, you have dry skin.

Some other indicators of dry skin:

pores are almost invisibledry or red patchesmore visible fine lines

Oily Skin

If your skin looks and feels shiny, greasy, and/or slippery, you have oily skin.

Some other indicators of oily skin:

pores are large and noticeable, and get clogged easilyblemishes are common

Combination Skin

The best and worst of both worlds. Combination skin is typically characterized by an oily T-Zone (your
forehead and nose), and either dry or normal skin on the rest of your face.

Some other indicators of Combination Skin:

pores are enlarged on your nose, and possibly your forehead, but are smaller on the rest of your
faceskin can be shiny, especially around the T-zonecombination skin seems to be more affected by
climate/weather, becoming dry and flaky sometimes, but greasy and prone to breakouts at other times.

Now that you know your skin type, what can you do to make it look and feel its best?

It’s important to build a skin care regimen that will maintain skin’s proper oil and moisture balance,
while also addressing any specific skin concerns (sensitive skin, acne-prone skin.) Now that you know
your skin type, you can use the products that will most benefit your skin.

KNOWING THE BAD INGREDIENTS TO AVOID

Here are the bad ingredients in our skin care products. Most of the synthetic (Non-organic) skin care
products at the market contain at least two of the bad ingredients listed below.
==Parabens
==Synthetic colors
==Fragrance (Here is where most dangerous chemicals are hidden)
==Phthalates (This is very dangerous, you will not see the name on any skin care product, but it’s
contained in them)
==Triclosan
==Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) / Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES).
==Formaldehyde
==Toluene
==Hydroquin
SKINCARE AND PRESERVATIVES

A preservative is an anti-microbial solution that helps to prevent fungi(mould) and other things from
growing in your products.

Preservatives are needed in any product that has water in it to prevent bacteria and mould from
growing in it.
Many people like their products and soaps to be all-natural, but sometimes there just isn’t a way to
make everything 100% natural.

Some of the preservatives are:-

Germaben – Germaben is a great preservative to use when you are making lotions, as it helps to keep
them nice and creamy.

Optiphen – Optiphen is a paraben and formaldehyde-free preservative. It is best to use in your oil-based
recipes like shampoos, conditioners, and some lotions.

Optiphen ND–
Optiphen ND is a water-soluble, broad spectrum preservative. This preservative works best in surfactant
based systems, shampoos, conditioners, gels, creams, and lotions.

Phenonip – Phenonip is a liquid preservative that helps to suppress the full range of microbial growth in
your cremes, lotions, salt scrubs, dusting powders and liquid soap bases. When making products at a
higher temperature, this is going to be the preservative you are going to want to use.

Optiphen Plus – Optiphen Plus is a water-soluble, paraben- and formaldehyde-free preservative. You can
use Optiphen Plus in any recipe you are using water in and it helps to protect against bacteria, mold
growth and even yeast!

EXAMPLES OF SAFE & NATURAL SKIN LIGHTENING AGENTS

Glutathione: This is one of the most prominent components of skin bleaching soaps. How does it work? It
plays an important role in curbing the process of melanin synthesis by preventing the reaction of tyrosinase
and L-DOPA (taken in through various foods in our daily diet) which bind together for synthesis. Thus, the
production of melanin in the skin is reduced and the skin appears fairer.. The most effective way of using
Glutathione for skin is with Vitamin C tablets

Papaya: The papaya fruit contains the enzyme papain. This enzyme helps in two ways - exfoliation and
renewal. It helps to exfoliate dry and dead skin cells. After the skin exfoliation, it then helps in rejuvenating
fresh new skin cells. Papaya products would lighten and give you a lovely glow like the Silka Papaya
Whitening Lotion though not as fast acting as some lightening products, it would lighten you with consistent
use.
Black Licorice: Many skin whitening soaps use pure black licorice extract in them. Black licorice contains
glabridin, which is an excellent bleaching agent for highly sensitive skin. It helps in getting rid of hyper-
pigmentation. It has anti-inflammatory properties and hence, is nontoxic. This means it reduces the
production of melanin in a totally safe and irritation free manner.

Green Tea: Green tea is also a good ingredient for skin whitening. It contains huge amounts of vitamin C. This
vitamin C helps in preventing too many melanin pigment cells from getting accumulated in one place. This
helps in inhibiting the occurrence of freckles and spots on the skin.

Kojic Acid: Kojic acid is also one of the popular ingredients used in skin whitening lotions like Kojie Sans Body
Lightening Lotion
and soaps. It helps not only as an agent for skin bleaching but also as a remedy for skin conditions like
melasma, cholasma, etc. which are characterized by discoloration of skin. It also helps in preventing hyper-
pigmentation. Kojic acid in soap requires a little longer to get absorbed into the skin. Hence, the soap needs
to remain on the skin for a while before being washed off.

Mulberry: This skin lightening ingredient is extracted from the roots of the paper Mulberry bags plant.
Mulberry is said to be a lot more effective than hydroquinone and kojic acid within the sense that
significantly lower concentrations are needed to have the same impact as higher concentrations of kojic acid
and hydroquinone.

CARRIER OILS ACCORDING TO SKIN TYPES.

Carrier oils are also vknown as VEGETABLE OR BASE OILS. They are so called because they help in carrying
ESSENTIAL oils and other cosmeceuticals (cosmetic ingredients,) into the skin.
They have moisturising and healing properties too. They are beneficial in skin care depending on skin types.
Certain skin types should avoid certain carrier oils .

OILY / ACNE PRONE SKIN

1. Grape seed oil
2. Jojoba oil
3. Neem oil

COMBINATION SKIN

5. Rosehip seed oil
6. Tamanu oil
7. Sweet almond

SCARS/ DAMAGED SKIN

1. Jojoba oil
2. Kukuinut oil
3. Tamanu oil
4. Rosehip seed oil
5. Seabuckthorn oil
Some of these oils are highly priced because of the following reasons:
1. Availability
2. Country of origin
3. Processing method
Depending on what you are making and the age bracket, choose your oils accordingly.
Like Carrier oils, their prices are driven by a number of factors.

ESSENTIAL OILS
These are oils gotten from plants through steam distillation process.
They are highly concentrated and effective (if you get original and not adulterated oils) in combating skin
issues.
CAUTION: Essential oils SHOULD NEVER be applied directly on the skin as it can burn.
From Ancient Greece to the days of Queen Cleopatra and Nefertiti of Egypt, EO's have been used in
treatments of all kinds of ailments.
Essential oils uses range from AROMATHERAPY, PHARMACEUTICAL to COSMETIC and PERFUMERY.
Here are some Essential oils and their categories:

WHY CREAMS DONT WORK

1. DEXFOLIATION- the art of not exfoliating regularly. Exfoliation opens the skin pores to allow penetration of
your skin care product .
2. IMPROPER APPLICATION. Try to use it right after a proper bath. Don't just take a quick shower, ensure
that dirt, sweat and grime that clog the skin pores are removed as you bathe so your cream really penetrates.
Also, don't mop up all the water from your skin after bathing, leaving some water on your skin allows the
cream to absorb better.
3. SUN EXPOSURE. Too much exposure to the sun's rays puts alot of strain on the skin and will hinder the
effects of your cream from being visible, make sure your cream has adequate sun
29
protection factor(SPF) of at least 15.
4. YOUR DIET. What are you stuffing up on? Eating right (fruits and vegetables and staying away from
unnatural sugar) boosts your skin's radiance from within. Oranges and apples especially, are loaded with
powerful and natural anti-oxidants that helps prevent your skin's collagen from breaking down.
5. IMPATIENCE. Creams that boasts of 'instant results' usually have harsh chemical components. It usually
takes time for your skin to adjust and respond to the products. Try more natural based products instead and
stop changing creams constantly.
6. BATHROOM ROUTINE. Please use a gentle cleanser or a beauty bar for your face instead of the regular bar
soaps and try to use lukewarm water instead of cold water. It helps to keep your skin's protective layer from
being stripped away.
Serum is just for 7days and u can add preservation if need be

Mango Seed Butter Skin Benefits
In skin care, we flock to mango butter for all the reasons listed above, but also for its moisturizing essential
fatty acids. It’s rich in oleic acid, a mono-unsaturated omega-9 acid; and stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid.
These are ingredients that the skin readily recognizes, takes up, and uses to help add moisture to the skin,
repair damage, and improve elasticity.
Here are some of the other ways mango benefits skin:
Promotes collagen production: Because its rich in vitamin C, mango butter can help encourage the production
of collagen, which helps give skin its shape and strength. Adequate collagen promotes a firmer appearance
on skin, reducing the look of sagging and bagging.
Natural source of vitamin A: Vitamin A is one of the natural ingredients that encourages healthy cell
production and turnover. Since mango butter is a natural source of vitamin A, it helps to stimulate the cells
responsible for keeping skin firm, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and increasing skin’s
overall youthful look.
Fades scars: Stretch marks, acne scars, and other old scars become more pliable and less noticeable when
exposed to all the goodies in mango butter—moisturizers, antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and skin
regenerators.
Treats dry skin: Dry patches, flakiness, eczema and dermatitis flare-ups, and even psoriasis can benefit from
daily application of mango butter, which goes to work deeply moisturizing and repairing damaged skin. Oh,
and don’t forget your lips—mango butter works great as a lip balm.
Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles: Mango butter provides a more lasting type of
moisturization, which can help prevent the formation of fine lines and wrinkles down the line. It also helps
reduce the degeneration of skin cells, preventing that damaging process that leads to wrinkles in the first
place.
Protects from sun damage: Remember that ability to protect from radiation that we mentioned above This is
a great perk with mango butter—when you apply it to your skin you carry around an extra bit of protection
from sun damage. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear sun protection, though!
Soothes sunburn: Yep, you can use it both before and after sun exposure, as mango butter helps soothe and
heal sunburned skin.
Calms insect bites and poison ivy: If you got bitten or were exposed to poison ivy on your last outing, reach
for your mango butter. Its anti-allergy properties can help calm the itching and stinging so your skin can relax.
Treats small wounds: If you’ve got scrapes, cracks, or other small wounds, mango butter can help them heal
faster.
All this, yet mango butter is gentle on skin, and perfectly suitable for sensitive skin.
