“Playing Piano”
A hobby is an activity carried out at leisure to calm one’s mind. Hobbies can also be
done anytime, people’s hobbies differ and they ccan train the talents that a person has.
My favourite hobby is playing piano. I really like all things related to music
especially piano.
I think, playing piano is not easy, we have to learn and memorize all the chords in
order to play them and create beautiful sounds.
But now there ae many lessons to learn to play the piano, but I prefer to learn self-
taught at home
The first time I like music and piano was when I sat in elementary school, at the
time I first had an instrument that is ‘pianica’, I really liked it, almost every day I played
my pianica, after that I decided to buy a piano, when I already had piano, I started to
learn the basics of piano, until finally my first piano was broken, I saved up my money to
buy a new piano, and finally I could buy it, now I started to learn to play it again, and
since then, I really like playing piano until now.
Definition of Piano
Piano is a musical instrument that is played with the fingers of the hand. Piano
players are called pianists.
At the time of its inception, the sound of the piano was not as loud as the piano of
the twentieth century, like the piano made by Bartolomeo Cristofori (1655 - 1731) made in
1720. Because the piano string tension at that time was not as strong as it is now. Now
the piano is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Although who was the first inventor of the piano, which was originally dubbed
gravecembalo col piano e forte (harpsichord with soft and loud keyboard), is still a debate,
many people admit, Bartolomeo Cristofori as its creator. Piano is also not the first musical
instrument that uses a keyboard and works with a hit.
Musical instruments that work like a piano have been around since 1440.Piano itself
was born from the desire to combine the beauty of the tone of the clavichord with the
power of the harpsichord. That desire encouraged Marius from Paris (1716), Schroter from
Saxony (1717), and Christofori (1720) from Padova, Italy, to make pianos. However, only
complete and complete results were shown Bartolomeo Christofori. From the piano
created by harpsichord and spinet keepers (little harpsichord) at the Florentine Palace -
the residence of Prince Ferdinand de 'Medici - this is a modern piano with roots.
Type of Piano
Basically, the piano can be divided into: acoustic piano and electronic piano. An
acoustic piano uses strings that are struck by a hammer to produce sound, while an
electronic piano uses an electronic board to produce sounds similar to the sound of an
acoustic piano.
1. Grand
On a grand piano, the strings are positioned horizontally; extending from the keys.
Sounds are produced by strings that are struck up by the hammer and utilize the pulling
force of the earth to return the hammer to its original position. There are many variations
of the size of a grand piano, which sometimes varies by brand. However, in general
variations in the size of a grand piano are: concert grand (ranging from 2.2 to 3 meters),
parlor grand (ranging from 1.7 to 2.2 meters), and baby grand (ranging from 1.5
meters).The bigger the size of a grand piano, the longer the strings. Longer strings
produce a louder and more natural sound. This makes the concert grand a top choice for
recording and concert purposes. While smaller pianos, such as the parlor grand and baby
grand are generally another option for those who have limited funds or tight space.
2. Upright
Upright pianos, or often called vertical pianos, are a more practical type of piano
than grand pianos. On an upright piano, the strings are positioned vertically and the
hammer moves horizontally. Unlike the grand piano, the hammer on the upright piano
returns to its original position using a spring, so sometimes the spring must be replaced
due to degradation.Upright pianos are generally cheaper and smaller making it popular for
use in homes, churches, schools, or public facilities. However, due to the short length of
the strings that cause less natural sound, the difficulty of positioning the microphone for
recording needs, hammer which sometimes feels less natural, the sound is not loud
enough, and the narrow space for sound waves to resonate, making upright piano a less
popular option for recording needs and concert.
3. Electronic and Digital
If you are beginners, want to learn piano / keyboard from the basics. you have to
understand basic chords and notes easily here. Before I start explaining how to play the
piano or keyboard, we will first discuss the differences from the piano and keyboard first
In order to play the Piano and Keyboard, first of all the most basic thing we need to
know is to understand what Chord and Not are, and how to apply them on the instrument
itself.
Not Chord
Do = C
Re = D
Mi = E
Fa = F
Sol = G
La = A
Si = B
Do '= C'
But, it can also be Do = D or Do = E and so on. The pitch shift is also called the
Transpose Tone.
