As the title implies the article describes the history of the development of native
computers. The article was taken from the interview of corresponding member of
the Russian Academy of Sciences B. Babayan. The purpose of the article is to give
the reader some information about the main events in the history of the
development of computers in the USSR, as well as some features and differences
from their development in America. The author starts by telling that the 1980s
became a significant period in the field of computer technology, since the
appearance of microprocessors gave a push to the next development. It is stressed
that in the technology of microchips, the USSR did not advance as far as America,
and therefore was forced to copy their achievements. However, success has been
achieved in the field of machine architecture, for example, in 1979 the Elbrus
machine was created with «super scalar» architecture, while in America they
switched to processors of this type only in the 1990s. In conclusion the author
points out, that the Elbrus machine was protected from malicious software, but at
the same time it also had its defects. In my opinion the article is useful, because it's
interesting to learn some facts about the past and to compare the two states in
development.

The article provides the reader with some information on data transmission over
the electric network. Unfortunately the author’s name and where or when the
article was published are not mentioned. The article touches upon the issue of
using a 220 V network to transmit information. From what the author says it
becomes clear that until recently, people didn't think much about this method of
data transfer, but today it is a rather promising direction. It is reported that there are
many areas of using such connection, but in our country it hasn't been widely used,
since we have a rather poor quality of power communications, and it is also
difficult to get such modems and special transmitters. Finally the author notes that
the big advantage of this method is the absence of the need for cabling and
installation work. I found the article a little bit hard to understand, because you
need to understand a complex data transfer device in order to have an idea of what
is the article talking about.

The article deals with digital and analogue data transmission. The author’s name
and information about where and when it was published isn't mentioned, but we
can assume that this article is a fragment of a textbook. The aim of the article is to
provide the reader with some material about the difference between digital and
analogue communications and their using. The article gives a detailed explanation
of what is digital and analog data transmission, how (or with which help) is it
transmitted. Further the author reports how they are digitized and with which help
the source is encoded and decoded. At the end of the fragment, two types of
information transfer are explained: consistent and parallel; their advantages and
disadvantages are showed. I think the article rather hard to understand, because it is
written in scientific language and it provides detailed descriptions of processes that
are not always clear to a person not from this sphere.
