major sectors of Banglades . As playing a major role in t e economy gives t em

major responsibility to t e society. Every bank is practicing corporate social

responsibility on t eir own way. In t is paper we ave selected two banks Exim Bank

and National Bank to compare and contrast t e corporate social responsibility of

different banks in Banglades . m e purpose is not only to find out t e a  activities

but also t eir implications and effectiveness on t e society. aorporate social

responsibility or corporate governance is one of t e major quality for evaluating or

valuing a firm or bank.

launc ed in 2006 wit 61 poor and meritorious students selected from different

reputed educational institutions of D aka aity including Govt. Laboratory Hig

c ool, Viqarunnissa Noon c ool and aollege , D aka University, BUEm, D aka

Medical aollege, etc. enrolled as many as 1000 students from around 150 reputed

educational institutions across t e country by 31 December 2008. m ey are enrolled

in t e t is programme to be taken care of for t eir w ole educational life subject to

t eir fulfilment of t e eligibility criteria t at include satisfactory academic results,

non-involvement in student politics, financial insolvency etc. o far mk. 19.3 million

Under Education Promotion c eme, quard or interest-free loan is provided for poor

and meritorious students to elp t em bear mont ly educational expenditure

including academic expenses, food, accommodation, etc. m e quard is disbursed to

t e selected students in mont ly installments till t eir accomplis ing t e master

degree. Under t is programme t e students are required to repay t e amount (only

t e principal amount in long-term mont ly installments after t ey ave joined a

confirmed job accomplis ing t eir education properly. By 31 December 2008, mk.

19.7 million was sanctioned to take care of around 138 poor and meritorious students
from a number of reputed educational institutions like D aka University, a ittagong

University, D aka Medical aollege, BUEm, Banglades Agricultural University,

a jalal University of cience and mec nology etc.

survive natural calamities. Under t is welfare program, EXIM Bank provides relief in

cas and kind for flood, fire or cyclone victims and cold-stricken people. m e aim of

Hon'ble Prime Minister as a donation/financial assisrance to t e bereaved family

members of t e martyred Army Officers killed in t e BD carnage eld on 25t

February, 2009.On 1st April, 2009, NBL donated mk. 24.00 Lac to t e Hon'ble Prime

Minister to and over t e same to t e family members of t e martyred Army Officer

w ic will be paid to 5 (five families @ mk. 40,000/ - per mont to eac family for 1

year w ic will continue for 10 years. m us total amount of donation will be mk. 2.40
