Acting Bingo Directions:


❏ Use two dice, or one die twice to roll for a bingo box.
❏ You need to be doing one red thing and two other things (black and blue type) per week
at least.
The Red diagonal stripe of tasks needs to be done in order and you need to do
them all, ideally spending about one or two hours per week until the end of the
semester. You should be prepared to have your final performance done and
recordable by roughly May 1st whether or not we come back to campus.
❏ If you land on a box that you have done and it is only one video or article, roll again.
❏ Keep track of the things you do. (I like to cross out the tasks I’ve done.)
❏ After each thing you do write a paragraph response. (You can email or submit these on
PowerSchool)
❏ Your paragraph response should answer these 3 questions:
❏ How does this video/article relate to the craft of acting?
❏ What does the video/article say about physicality/movement/physical
expression?
❏ What did this video/article teach me about acting and physicality?
Some Bingo Rules:
❏ A Play means a published play script, not a novel, graphic novel, game, film script, TV or
movie.

Rock Star Project:


All the red lettered boxes on the bingo board are part of the RockStar project.
This will be the required work that takes the place of your final scene. You will lip sync to a live
performance of a recognizable rockstar of your choice. The goal is to adopt and imitate as
perfectly as possible the live performance of your Rockstar, including costume, mannerisms,
facial expression, timing, etc. The live video track will be your lip-synch accompaniment and you
will record yourself as the new physical performance. (Please do not sing, only lip-synch).
❏ Step 1: Choose your rockstar
Your rockstar should be:
● Someone that you like and would like to “be” for a little while
● Recognizable by everyone (regardless of age and taste)
● Submit your choice for approval
● Submit a journal/reflection paragraph describing and reflecting on the bingo tasks

❏ Step 2: Choose your song


Your song should be:
● A live recording, preferably a video recording
● Watchable, Repeatedly, so many times...
● Physically interesting and different from you
● Submit your video
● Submit a journal/reflection paragraph describing and reflecting on the bingo tasks

❏ Step 3: Rehearse and memorize your song


You should be:
● Rehearsing the physicality you see in the video
● Finding gestures and movements that are specific to the performer
● Learning and perfecting the imitation of those movements and gestures
● Rehearsing full out!
● Rehearsing for a short time as often as possible, i.e. 15 minutes every other day
● Exploring movement techniques we’ve used in class and that you watch in videos
● Submit a journal/reflection paragraph describing and reflecting on the bingo tasks

❏ Step 4: Choose your Costume


Your Costume should be:
● The essence of what the rockstar wears in their performance
● Usable in the same way your rockstar used theirs
● Include props. If your rockstar uses a prop, you use a prop
● Submit a journal/reflection paragraph describing and reflecting on the bingo tasks
● Submit a photo if possible

❏ Step 3: Perform your song for a friend or family member


● Make it clear that you are the rockstar and that they are a fan, coach them to
behave like a fan: applaud, scream, get excited and enthusiastic. I will write up a
little welcome/thank you for you to give your audience with instructions on being
a supportive rock-star audience...
● Ask them for positive feedback
● Submit a journal/reflection paragraph describing and reflecting on the bingo tasks

❏ Step 4: Record your performance


● Have someone help you if possible
● Set up the camera/phone
● Set up the music/video as loud as is comfortable, i.e. as close to rock concert
volume as possible without damaging you or the quality of the recording
● Submit the video
● Submit a journal/reflection PAGE describing and reflecting on the Project
