HOSTEL RULES
GENERAL

1. Hostellers will follow the daily routine of the hostel and school, unless exempted on medical grounds on
recommendation of the Hostel Warden/Medical Officer.
2. Hostellers are not allowed to stay in the rooms during school hours/games/activity. No Day Scholar can enter
the hostel building.
3. All lights in the rooms should be switched-off by 11:00 p.m. However, for classes XI & XII, lights to be
switched off by 11:30 p.m.
4. Night roll call/attendance will be taken at 8:00 p.m.
5. In case of emergency, visits can be arranged with the Principal's permission.
Formalities to be completed before joining the Hostel:
6. Before a student joins/enters the hostel, the following documents/formalities must be completed on separate
forms supplied by the school:
a) Certificate from the local guardian for accepting the child to stay with him/her during sickness/Summer
Vacation/Dussehra Break/Diwali Break/Winter Break.
b) A certificate certifying that no cash/costly belongings are retained with the child.
c) Health certificate regarding medical history etc. duly checked and signed by the parents.
d) A certificate authorising the school to make arrangements for school activities like excursions,
competitions, music, dance etc.
e) Indemnifying the school against any damage, sickness, accident, death caused in the normal functioning of
usual activities.
f) An authority letter from the parent indicating one name and address (with his/her photograph and
telephone no.) who would act as the local guardian. Please note that only that person will be allowed to
become local guardian who is employed and lives in a family environment. No student or our staff
member will be allowed to become a local guardian to a hostel student of our school. These rules will
be strictly adhered to by the Hostel Wardens.
g) Passport size photograph of the parents and Local Guardian have to be submitted to the Hostel Warden. No
other person is allowed to meet the child without written request of the parents.
h) Hostel requirements of school uniforms to be provided by the parents.
i) Certificate from the Registered Medical Practitioner not less than MBBS that he/she is medically fit. (to be
furnished in the enclosed format)
j) An advance of Rs. 2000/- per child is required to be deposited with the Hostel Warden at the time of
admission to meet the actual pocket money expenses of the child.
k) Students have to keep the statement of their expenditure. Students are not allowed to keep more than
Rs. 500/- with them.

Room Rules and Regulations:


7. Students residing in the hostel to make note of the following and ensure strict compliance:
a) Eating and keeping of eatables are strictly forbidden in the room and cupboards. However, non-perishable
items like dry fruits may be kept.
b) Students should not eat anything from outside the school.
c) Valuables like gold chains, rings etc. are not allowed in the hostel, if a student has brought it by mistake
it should be deposited with the Hostel Warden.
d) Any case of illness should immediately be reported to the Hostel Warden.
8. A hostel committee of the boarders (Captain, Floor Captain) from each floor will be responsible for the
maintenance of the cleanliness and discipline on each floor. The hostel committee will ensure that fans and
lights are switched off, when not required.
9. Boarders are provided with a bed, a cupboard, a table and a chair. Each boarder must maintain utmost
cleanliness and make sure that the area under her/his bed and cupboard is clean. Waste paper and refuse must be
thrown in the dustbins provided and not littered in the corridors.
10. BEDS: Name and tag will be attached to every bed. As far as possible, uniformity will be maintained in the
colour of bed covers in each room. Boarders will make their own beds neatly every morning. Wet towels can be
spread on the bed rails at the headside of the beds.
11. CUPBOARDS: Cupboards must be arranged neatly. Surprise checks will be made by Hostel Wardens. Any
extra items other than those specified in the hostel kit will be confiscated. Boarders will dust their room and
cupboard tops daily.
12. Play timing: 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. (in summer)
4:30 - 5:30 p.m. (in winter)
Swimming: Compulsory for hostellers. Timings as per notification.
13. EATS: Eating in the rooms is unhygienic and is prohibited. The hostel committee must make sure that any
boarder who litters the room or spills anything, cleans up the mess himself/herself.
14. BATHROOM AND TOILETS: Boarders must ensure that the bathrooms and toilets after use are as
clean as they would like to find them. They must ensure that they close all the taps.
15. DISCIPLINE IN THE MESS:
a) Boarders must behave in a disciplined manner in the Dining Hall.
b) Each boarder must begin the meal after prayers.
c) After the meals, chairs must be put back neatly without noise.

16. MEAL TIMINGS:


Breakfast (working days) : 6:20 a.m. to 6:50 a.m.
Tiffin in school : 9.45 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.
Lunch : 1:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Evening tea/snacks : 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Dinner : 8:00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

17. RECREATION ROOM: Timing should be fixed for watching TV by students and regulated by the Hostel
Warden so that students don't waste much time watching TV and that they should apply their mind more on
studies.

18. Classes XI & XII Hostellers must furnish their tuition details in the enclosed format (Annexure-I).

19. CLOTHING:
All articles of clothing and other items belonging to the students, must have their names clearly marked on
them. Detailed specifications of school uniform is given below:

SUMMER
Note:
Summer uniform to be worn from 1 April (i.e. the beginning of the new session to 13 November)
BOYS:
White half sleeved shirt without pocket. Vests should always be worn under the shirt.
White shorts (not more than three inches above the knee for all upto class V). White trousers from class VI
onwards. The width of the trousers for classes IX to XII should be between 16 and 18 inches. Drain pipes, bell
bottomed trousers, low waist trousers or baggies are not allowed.
Black shoes with laces, medium toe, Bata make (Lilliput / Naughty Boy) or similar make. White socks with two
green stripes. Bottle green school belt.
NOTE: Turban, if worn, should be Bottle green. If, the head is tonsured for some reason, then bottle green
colour cap to be worn.
GIRLS:
White half sleeved shirt without pocket. White skirt not more than one inch above the knee. Low waist skirts are
not allowed. White divided skirts from class VI onwards. White tunic for classes Nursery, Prep and class One, 1
inch above the knee.
Black shoes - (Medium toe) Bata make (Ballerina) or similar make.
White socks with two green stripes - Knee length.
Bottle green school belt.
Bottle green ribbons/hair bands.

WINTER

Note:
1. This uniform is to be worn from 14 November.
2. Blazer is compulsory from 1 December to 31 January.

BOYS:
White full sleeved shirt without pocket.
Vests should always be worn under the shirt.
Steel grey trousers with two side cross pockets. (Width of the trousers for classes IX to XII should be between 16
and 18 inches). Drain pipes, bell bottomed trousers, low waist trousers or baggies are not allowed.
Black shoes with laces, medium toe, Bata make (Lilliput / Naughty Boy) or similar make. Grey socks from class
Nursery onwards.
School Blazer (single breasted) in Bottle green with school metal buttons and monogram compulsory w.e.f.
1 December.
Plain ‘V’ Neck front closed Bottle green woollen sweater, Bottle green tie, Bottle green school belt.
NOTE: Turbans, if worn, should be of Bottle green colour. If, the head is tonsured for some
reason, then bottle green colour cap to be worn.

GIRLS:
White full sleeved shirt without pocket, Steel grey skirt not more than 1 inch above the knee. Black colour long
leggings (optional). Low waist skirts are not allowed. Divided skirts from class VI onwards. Steel grey tunic
for classes Nursery, Prep and Class One, 1 inch above the knee.
Black shoes - Medium toe, Bata make (Ballerina) or similar make.
Grey stockings (quality stuff with elastic upto knee level) for all classes upto class XII.
School Blazer (single breasted) in Bottle green with school metal buttons and monogram – Class II onwards
compulsory w.e.f. 1 December.
Plain ‘V’ neck, front closed, Bottle green woollen sweater / cardigan to be worn as per winter conditions.
Bottle green ribbons/hair bands, Bottle green school belt and Bottle green tie.
Nose pins, fashionable/dangling ear rings, finger rings, bangles and mehendi are strictly forbidden/are not
allowed.

sleeved shirt and full length trousers with piping (same colour) on the both sides. 2 sets
Girls: Maroon coloured night suit of Gucci with white piping on half sleeved
shirt and full length trousers with piping on the both sides.
Sports Uniform*:
(a) Summer: 2 sets
(i) Boys: Navy Blue coloured shorts with half sleeved light blue T-Shirt.
(ii) Girls: Navy Blue coloured ¾ and half sleeved light blue T-Shirt.
(b) Winter: Blue coloured track suit for both Boys and Girls. 2 sets

* Night suits and Sports Uniform can be made available to the students through school
outfitters (optional). The cost for the same will be borne by the students.

NOTE: A medium size suit-case (24 inches) and one handbag should be brought for the clothes. No large tin
boxes/trunks will not be allowed. All extra clothing will be returned.

20. OTHER INSTRUCTIONS TO THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS


a) Before joining the hostel the student must be administered ATS for Tetanus and Anti-Chicken Pox
injections.
b) Routine medical treatment during the school hours is provided free by the School Medical Officer.
However, if the medical officer has to be called from his residence to examine any hosteller after the school
hours, his professional charges of Rs. 250/- per visit will have to be paid by the parents through
miscellaneous fund.
c) Children requiring hospitalization will be admitted in Bhilai Steel Plant Hospital unless standing
instructions to the contrary are given by the parents to the school in writing. All hospital charges and
amount spent on extra tonics and medicines for special treatment will be put on bills. Parents entitled to
free treatment of their children in Government hospitals or other hospitals are advised to inform us in
writing so that their wards can be sent to such hospitals.
d) Hostellers are not allowed to keep any cash or valuables in their possession (gold chains/rings/costly
watches/ jewellery etc.)
e) Hostellers are not allowed to keep medicines or tonics without the knowledge of the Hostel Warden/Medical
officer.
f) Cell Phones, Transistors, Walkman, i-pods, CD player, Music systems etc. are not permitted in the
hostel. Electric Kettles, heaters, irons or any other such appliances are not permitted in the hostel.
g) Hostellers will be allowed to go home only during the long breaks. The local guardians will collect the
child from the school Hostel and make arrangements for his/her travel. The hostellers will return to the
hostel a day before the school reopens.
h) If a student does not report to the Hostel on the due date after the vacation he/she will have to make
his/her own arrangements to stay outside and attend the classes etc. at school for the same no. of days
he/she has not reported to the hostel. For ex. If a student, after Dussehra break, reports late by four
days i.e on 28th Oct instead of 24th Oct, he/she should first inform the Warden of his/her reporting
time and explain the reason for the delay in writing on 28 th Oct. and then return to the hostel only on,
1st Nov. between 4.00 p.m. & 6.00 p.m., making arrangements to stay on his own from 28 th Oct to 1st
Nov. without being absent from the classes held at school.
i) If a student does not report back to the hostel within 6 days, her/his name will be struck off the rolls.
j) Examination reports will be sent to the parents through the Hostel Warden.
k) Hostellers will be issued notices and circulars, informing them about new rules and regulations, which must
be adhered to.
l) Local guardian and other relatives are not permitted to go inside the hostel. Parents must seek prior
permission from the Hostel Warden to meet their ward.
m) Telephone calls will be permitted only on Saturdays (8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
n) Every second Saturday of the month the school organises Parent Teacher Meet where the parent must meet
the respective class/subject teacher/s from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. or as notified by the school.
o) Parents and local guardians to meet their wards only on 2nd Saturdays between 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m.
and on 4th Saturdays between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
p) Students can avail only two overnight exeat per session. However in the term examination month, overnight
exeat will not be issued.
q) Overnight exeat cannot be clubbed with the long breaks such as Dusshera, Diwali & Winter and Summer vacation.
r) Parents visiting from outstation will have to get prior special permission from the Hostel Warden to see their
wards on days other than those specified for visiting.
s) Hostellers will keep their rooms neat and tidy. If found unruly or causing indiscipline, the Warden will take
necessary action against them.
t) One chowkidar will be on duty at the main gate to keep a record of the visitors coming to see the hostellers.
u) All new hostellers must report along with the following documents on 15 June 2017 between
4:00 - 6:00 p.m.:
(a) Hostel Fee receipt
(b) Duly filled in hostel forms in duplicate along with affidavit
(c) Attested marks statement of the annual exam of the previous class
(d) Countersigned Transfer Certificate - if not submitted earlier
However, the parent is free to contact the Head Hostel Warden, Mr. Anil Kr. Jangir in case of an emergency.
