Happy Monday Cox Families, we are in Week 3 of our School Closure and I hope you all are
healthy and staying safe! You are receiving daily messages from CCSD and to prevent
overwhelming information from the district, your student’s teacher, and myself I purposefully
did not send any parentlink messages last week.

As of Friday, March 27th, CCSD schools will remained closed now through April 16th. Should
this date change I will send out information through our multiple means of communication.
Oops! My apologies: I forgot to include the link to Week 3 from the district’s extended learning packets: Here are the links
for Week 3:

News from Superintendent Dr. Jara: Channel 10 (Vegas PBS) has high-quality educational programming for
children and families every day. Regular programming, appropriate for elementary-age students, is broadcast daily
until 2:00 p.m. Beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, special programming for students in Grades 4 through
12, including mathematics, science, history, and other content areas will broadcast daily from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00
p.m. You can also call 702-799-1010, option 5 with any questions about future educational programming to
support students.

Teacher News: Tuesday, March 24th, all CCSD teachers were to begin distance learning with their students. This
meant that all teachers were to contact their classroom students to inquire about how the activities, learning items,
and academics were going. Many of our own Cox teachers have gone above and beyond what the district and state
has mandated and developed Google classroom meetings, lessons, activities, etc. Our students are working so hard
during this difficult situation and we are currently determining a plan to account for all the work the students are
doing upon our return to school. The teachers are monitoring their software programs to see student activity.

Please remember that if your student(s) are more comfortable doing the state/district packets and online resources
given out at the food distribution sites that is perfectly fine too. You can always take a picture of the work and
email it to your child’s teacher; they love to see what the students are doing.

Cox News: Our teachers are truly missing our students and so am I! A lot of schools across the valley are doing
various “car parades” and we are discussing ways we can see our students from “a distance” as well. A number of
our teachers express their joy in seeing their students’ faces during their Zoom and Google meetings.

Spring Break begins Monday, April 6th, and goes through Monday, April 13th. We will NOT be assigning any
work or corresponding with our students/families during that week. Learning activities will resume on April 14th.

Our teachers will be working on multiple forms of “plans of action” for the upcoming weeks. Plans for returning on
Friday, April 17th, plans for extended learning through the end of April in the event school closure is extended, and
then plans for what the end of our year will look like returning the last 14 days of our school year. The district
provides me daily “updates” and news is continuously changing as our situation changes. As I know updated
information I will always share with my community.
If you drive by our school, please look to the Primary Playground near the field! It exists no more! Construction is
underway during our closure to replace our play structures and they’re moving pretty fast! The construction crews
have been leaving the large gate open during the daytime; if you’re out walking and riding bikes with your family
please don’t ride into the campus, the district did disinfect all the playgrounds but our campus is closed as all the
Henderson parks are and construction vehicles are constantly coming and going throughout the day.

Student Medications: Families, if your student has medications in our nurse’s office and our school closure is
extended beyond April 16th, we will schedule a day for you to come in and pick up your child’s medication. We
will meet you at front door to minimize contact and have all the needed forms ready for you to sign and get your
child’s medications.
