SURGE RELIEF VALVE

Pressure surges ("water hammer") are a familiar phenomenon in liquid systems.

They are usually caused by rapidly changing flow rates originated by pump trips, fast
closing valves etc.

Since pressure surges :

• usually appear fast
• easily exceed maximum allowable operating pressure
• transmit very quickly through pipelines

it is imperative that they are dealt with quick, safe and effective.

The Mokveld surge relief valve is engineered to quickly measure unabated surge
pressures, open fast for pressure relief, after which it closes into seating without
slamming
