KRISHAK BHARATI CO-OPERATIVE LIMITED (KRIBHCO) Surat is a premier fertilizer plant

in cooperative sector incorporated in April, 1980. The present capacity of the plant is
4x1662.5 MTPD Urea (21.95 LMTPA) and 2 x 1890 MTPD Ammonia (12.47 LMTPA).

In KRIBHCO Health, Safety and Environment Protection is our first and utmost Priorities,
entire Fertilizer complex is certified for OSHAS 18001, IS0 14001 and ISO 9001 by IRQS.

Our basic raw materials are Natural Gas for our Captive Power Plant and Ammonia Plant for
making Urea here. We have threat in the Plants as Toxic Gas (Ammonia) Leakage and Fire
and Explosion Hazard due to our Process to make Ammonia and Urea. The Plant is
engineered with inherent safety features for avoid any major Incident or Toxic Gas leakage,
Basic Process Control and Inherent Safety Systems are installed for ensuring Safety during
Operational Stage. All our hazardous Inventory (Ammonia Storage, Chlorine) and equipment
Installation are adequately designed with best engineering practices through reputed
engineering consultant. All Process Related Hazards like Toxic Leakage, Fire and
Explosions are identified through proper Process Hazard Analysis Tools Like Hazop, Hazid
etc. and all appropriate control measures are implemented to overcome for any process
deviation and Plant Upset. The Plant Safety is reviewed and Audited by external agency and
accordingly Safety is ensured though proper implementation. Risk Assessment has been
carried out by external agency for assessing the Risk Level for Individual and Societal Risk
and these risk Profile are acceptable as per international acceptable standard. Process
Safety Parameters are monitored round o’clock by the respective Control Room in whole
Fertilizer Complex and all control Room and Fire and Emergency Control Center are
manned 24X7 with adequate manpower and they are trained for first line responders for
emergency handling in the Plant. All key Personnel of the Plant are trained for handling any
Emergency and Plant Upset and effective emergency communication system are in place for
effective communication during emergency.

Safety and Fire Protection Measures are readily available for any Unplanned and
Unexpected release of Toxic Gases and Fire and Explosion hazards for self-suppress the
Fire Hazard. All our critical installations are provided with Fixed Fire Fighting Facilities like
Sprinklers Systems, FM 200 Flooding system, Water Curtain and also Passive Fire
Protection measures like Fire Wall, explosion Proof wall, Fire Escape Route etc. All
hazardous Installation are provided with Safety Instrumented System (SIS) like ESD
(Emergency Shutdown), Fire and Gas Detection System, safety alarm and Tripping
mechanism, Secondary containment for liquid spill prevention etc. Hazardous chemicals are
stored with Primary and secondary containment with adequate automated Firefighting
system like deluge system for operating water spray, sprinklers etc. All Safety Measures are
designed based on worst case scenario that can be due to our Plant Operation.

Disaster Management Plan and Onsite Emergency Plans are prepared by considering
possible emergency like Toxic release, Fire and Explosion and also considered for Natural
calamities like Flood, Tsunami, earthquake etc. and action plans were identified in the Onsite
Emergency Plan to mitigate such hazardous situation and unforeseen incident. Mutual Aid
Program are attached with our neighbor industries like ONGC, Essar and Reliance
Industries for handling level-2 emergency and offsite Emergency.

Mock drill Exercise are rehearsal periodically with our mutual aid partners, Plant Personnel
to check the Emergency Response and identify the gap and strengthen the system in
continuously

Safety and Emergency Awareness Campaigning Program for employee, contractors and
Nearby villagers and all our stake holders associate with us are arranged periodically to
make them familiar with Hazard associate with our Plant and Emergency Measures and
Precautions to be taken during emergency. We encourage Villagers, students, contractors to
Participate in our Safety events for making themselves aware of Safety and make
themselves safe during any unseen emergency.
