 Narrate how Rizal spent his time during his Binan, Ateneo, and UST days
Binan- When Rizal turned nine, he was sent to the school of Maestro Justiniano
Aquino Cruz in Biñan, Laguna. Jose spent his leisure hours with Justiniano's father-in-
law, a master painter, and with his first two sons, two nephews, and a grandson. Jose's
way of life was methodical and well regulated. He heard mass at four if there was one
that early, or studied his lesson at that hour and went to mass afterwards. Returning
home, he would usually look in the orchard for a mabolo fruit to eat, after which he took
his breakfast, consisting generally of a plate of rice and two dried sardines.
Ateneo- On june 10, 1872, Rizal took the road from Biñan going to Manila. As a
student in Ateneo, Rizal earned "excellent" marks in all his subjects year after year, and
he won all the medals and prizes coveted by students. The Jesuits called him "a child
excellent in religious sentiments, customs, and application with progress worthy of his
signal talent". From the time he entered Ateneo, Rizal developed a well- organized life,
with a highly disciplined method and work schedule, a system that he maintained all his
life. He always strove to conduct himself with excellence, was constantly correct in his
social relations, and was without selfish or materialistic moves. Rizal started to
demonstrate interest in painting and sculpture. In the plastic arts, two pieces of beauty
made by Rizal have been preserved at the Ateneo, the figure of Our Lady of Virgin Mary
carved in batidkuling, and the image of the Sacred Heart, to which Rizal had a great
devotion.
UST- He continued his education at the Ateneo Municipal de Manila to obtain a
land surveyor and assessor's degree and at the same time at the University of Santo
Tomas where he did take up a preparatory course in law. Upon learning that his mother
was going blind, he decided to switch to medicine at the medical school of Santo Tomas
specializing later in ophthalmology.

 Discuss the effect of the Cavite Mutiny to the natives especially to Jose Rizal
Jose Rizal dedicated his novel, "El Filibusterismo" to the three priests, Mariano
Gomez, 85 years, Jose Burgos, 30, and Jacinto Zamora, 35, executed at Bagumbayan
Field on February 17, 1872. Philippine nationalism was born. The assumption is that,
before this date, the people did not feel they were one nation, and any sign of protest
against the foreign presence that was Spain was a localized act of rebellion to which the
rest of the country did not relate. The execution of three Filipino priests, one of them an
octogenarian, for something nobody believed they had anything to do with in the first
place, stirred a current of sympathy for the martyrs and of revulsion against the alien
rulers who could bring the ax down on the necks of the innocent. After three and a half
centuries of foreign domination characterized by unenlightened government, outright
exploitation of people and natural resources, now and then half-hearted attempts at
reform and, on the part of the governed, sporadic and desultory shows of resistance,
the common enemy now took shape and the people felt as one in their fight for the right
to rule themselves, shape their own destinies, and take the consequences.
 Express insights based from the given topics.
Jose Rizal, for my own insights, tells me the value of certain things which is
important for the success of his life. That is God, Family, Country and Self. He could not
reach as that far without God. The Lords is the most important one who could determine
our success, just like as Rizal feared God and in return, he have been bless abundantly
not by material things only but a spiritual one. That is intelligence, skills, love, and
compassion. Also the role of family is next important for Rizal had been blessed with a
family who could guide him to what he really aims. Even nowadays, family is one of the
foundations of a person’s character. Next one is country! For Rizal’s portray the love of
the country as a means of loving his fellow Filipino, thus helping them to attain justice
from the evil and corrupt priest and Spaniards who are mistreating them in their own
land for God has created us to extend our help with our fellow as a symbol of glorifying
Him. And last is Self. I have learned from Rizal’s life that you should make yourself
fruitfully. He makes himself grow to wisdom and knowledge to use it in God’s purpose.
He did not say to himself that he is not worth enough and live blind for what is
happening in his environment. Thus, he is knows that he is a child of God. Moreover,
Rizal proved that pen is mightier than a sword. For his expertise in writings enable him
to convince his whole fellowmen to attain justice, thus destroying an empire. For words
flies wherever and ignites every man’s feelings. Just like as a saying says that word is
powerful, there comes positive and negative in it. It could heal one’s heart but also harm
another like a double edged sword. Rizal have a God fearing heart so that he have
ignite change and peace and thus mean we Filipinos should have a good conscience
and God fearing heart to impose positive changes.
In Cavite Mutiny, I believe that Cavity Mutiny is a Grand Conspiracy which deals
with the Spanish version or Spanish perspective. Even though I know that the abolition
of the privileges enjoyed by the laborers of the Cavite arsenal of exemption from the
tribute was the cause of the insurrection but if we analyze or review it carefully we must
look to the bigger views of contents, we must not focus on just only one argument that
Cavite Mutiny is just because of labor issue. It is just a simple and weak argument that
leads to widespread uprising of the Filipinos. It is a grand conspirancy because when
the GOMBURZA was being the defendants they were convicted guilty by the fiscal.

2nd- Leonor Valenzuel
3rd- Leonor Rivera
4th- Consuelo Ortiga Y. Reyes

Valuing:
How did Jose Rizal showed his humility when he was a child, despite their status in
life?
Elaborate your answer.
Dr. Jose Rizal from his humble origin to his studies at his native land Laguna is a
boy of creativity, passion for knowledge, education, and religion. From an early age,
Jose Rizal Mercado showed a precocious intellect. He learned the alphabet from his
mother; at 5, while learning to read and write, he already showed inclinations to be an
artist. He astounded his family and relatives by his pencil drawings and sketches and by
his moldings of clay. At the age 8, he wrote a Tagalog poem, “Sa Aking Mga Kabata,”
the theme of which revolves on the love of one's language. Rizal grew up to be
religious, prayerful, and god-fearing. His love for arts and literature also started sparks
in his childhood. He learned to express himself in the medium of poetry and arts at an
early age and developed this gift subsequently, proof of this is the Mi Primera
Inspiracion, a poem that shows his love for his mother.
