Where Did You Get Your Clothes?

During the Industrial Revolution the Americans wanted to be self-
sufficient according to the Monroe Doctrine by President Monroe in 1823. But
even until now, we still rely on other countries in terms of trading clothes. We
usually export more clothes to other countries and not to our own nation. Since I
am from a different country, I have some clothes that are from here, but
they aren’t that many. My clothes were made from different nations because a
lot of countries export clothes to each other. The largest percentage of clothes
that I have is from China because this nation mostly relies on exporting clothes to
other countries and, they are well known in trading clothes. Industrial laws affect
how different countries use various kinds of clothing materials to make
clothes. Clothes can be expensive depending on what materials are they
made, who made them and where they’re made. Labor and wage laws can affect
where my clothes are made through this. Most clothing companies here in the
United States export more clothes rather than import. Americans buy clothes to
wear every day and, in a year, one American family will spend about $1700 on
clothing. “20 billion, the number of garments Americans buy in a year” (Anastasia,
2017).
