What do these dashboard warning lights mean?

What is a warning light?

• It is a light that illuminates or flashes when there is trouble in a
system, replenishment or replacement is required, or to help the
driver drive safely.
• Light color is divided into red or orange by the level of
emergency or importance.

Indication of trouble
1. Brake system warning light
• It illuminates when the parking brake lever is applied.
• It illuminates when the brake fluid level is low.
• It illuminates when the vacuum of the brake line for diesel
engine is low.

2. Seat belt reminder light

It illuminates when a seat belt is not fastened.

3. Discharge warning light

It illuminates when there is a malfunction somewhere in the
charging system. Should show when vehicle ignition is ‘ON’
position and should go off when Engine is running.

4. Malfunction indicator lamp

It illuminates when there is a malfunction in the engine control
system. This is usually in Electronic Fuel Injection Vehicles (EFI) .
The malfunction is usually in the Electronic system.

5. Low fuel level warning light

It illuminates when the fuel in the fuel tank is close to empty.

Warning Light
6. Low engine oil pressure warning light
It illuminates when the pressure of the engine oil drops. (The oil
level is low.)

7. ABS warning light

It illuminates when there is a malfunction in the ABS system. ABS
Means anti-lock breaking system.

8. Open door warning light

It illuminates when a door is not closed.

9. SRS warning light

It illuminates or blinks when there is a malfunction in the SRS
airbag system.

10. Timing belt replacement warning light

It illuminates when the distance driven reaches the replacement
timing of the timing belt. In Most of the Toyota Vehicles the
timing belt should be replaced at 100,000Km

11. Fuel filter warning light

It illuminates when the water level in the fuel filter reaches the
prescribed limt. This water in the filter should be drained to avoid
damage to the injection pump and nozzles.

What mileage should you Service your car?

Inspection:
Every 5,000km intervals or 6 months is minor service where
oil and filter must be changed.
Inspection. Every 20,000km is major Service
where among other items changed at this mileage is oil, oil
filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter, adjustments, timing etc

When should I replace my wiper blades? Wiper & Washer

Importance of inspection/replacement for wiper rubber
• The rubber inserts in the wipers scrap against the windshield to
wipe the water off the surface and gradually wear over time.
• When scratches are created on the rubber inserts by the fine
sand or dust particles that adhere to the windshield, they leave
wiping lines on the windshield.
Inspection interval
Inspection:
Every 10,000km (6,000 miles) or 6 months

When and why should I replace tyres? Tire

Inspection/Replacement interval
1. Wear
• Inspection:
every 10,000km (6,000 miles) or 6
months
• Replace the tire when the tread
depth of the tire wears below 3mm.
• If the depth of the tire tread reaches
1.6mm, the tire indicator appears on
the tire surface and indicates the
need for replacement. (It indicates
the limit of tire wear.)

2. Air pressure
Inspection:
every 10,000km (6,000 miles) or 6
months
• It is possible to judge by looking.
• It is possible to get a flat tire when
the air pressure is abnormally low.
• Refer to the Owner's Manual for the
prescribed air pressure.
• Check the spare tire at the same
time as the tire inspection.

Condition of tire wear/uneven

wear (Alignment)
When there is uneven wear such as
both edge wear, center wear, feather
wear, one side edge wear (inside or
outside) toe and heel wear, or an
abnormal wear, it is a sign that there
is a problem with the wheel alignment,
not only with the air pressure.

What is the importance of Tyre inspection? Tire

Importance of tire inspection
• Tires wear down
• Air pressure decreases
• It is possible that foreign substances
such as pieces of metal may enter
the tire as it contacts road surface.

If the tire wears

• The grooves disappear making it slip
easily.
• When driving at high speed on a wet
surface, it cannot drain the water
and slides on the water surface
(hydroplaning), causing the vehicle
to lose control.
• A flat-tire occurs easily.
• A tire bursts easily.
• The tire life is shortened.

If the air pressure of the tire

drops
• It deforms, and cannot function well.
• It causes abnormal wear such as
shoulder wear.
• The tire life is shortened.
• "Standing wave" may occur during
driving, resulting in a tire burst.

Why does my battery not last long? Battery

What is a battery?
It plays these roles.
• It supplies electric power to start the engine.
• It supplies electric power to the electric devices.
• It stores electric power to start the engine again.

If battery is not inspected

• The electroyte volume decreases, and battery cannot be
sufficiently recharged.
• It deteriorates, discharges, and the charging capacity decreases.

Inspection interval
Inspection Service to top up the electrolyte

Danger of short circuit

• Battery has both positive and negative terminals. If through
contact with water, the terminals make an electrical connection,
a short circuit occurs.
• Vehicles or electrical parts experience a short circuit when the
positive and negative terminals are connected in the opposite
manner.

When should I replace spark plugs Spark Plugs

What is a spark plug?
It sends sparks to ignite the air-fuel mixture which is compressed
for burning.

Importance of replacement spark plug

• When the electrode wears, plug gap becomes greater.
• Dirt (carbon) sticks.

If the spark plugs are not replaced

By the corner of the electrode wearing, a plug gap spreads out,
the fuel economy becomes worse, and the power output falls.

Inspection/Replacement interval
• Replacement depends on the distance driven.
• It is also possible to inspect condition by looking.
Inspection :
every 10,000km
Replacement:
every 20,000km
