INTRODUCTION

 The project “Musical Instrument of India”is a HTML based website which gives info about
Musical Instruments of India. People who are interested to get more and more information about
musical instrument of India they can visit this website and can get the info regarding it.
 Amusical instrument is an instrument created or adapted to make musical sounds. In principle,
any object that produces sound can be a musical instrument—it is through purpose that the object
becomes a musical instrument. The history of musical instruments dates to the beginnings of
human culture.
 Early musical instruments may have been used for ritual, such as a trumpet to signal success on the
hunt, or a drum in a religious ceremony. Cultures eventually developed composition.
 Music is an art and cultural form whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of
music are pitchwhich governs melody and harmony, rhythm and its associated concepts tempo,
meter, and articulation, dynamics loudness and softness.
 Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements.
Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and with vocal techniques ranging from
singing to rapping, and there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces and pieces that
combine singing and instruments.
 In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form include the production of
works of music songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on, the criticism of music, the study of the
history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music.
 Musical instruments are constructed in a broad array of styles and shapes, using many different
materials. Early musical instruments were made from "found objects" such a shells and plant
parts. As instruments evolved, so did the selection and quality of materials. Virtually every
material in nature has been used by at least one culture to make musical instruments. One plays a
musical instrument by interacting with it in some way—for example, by plucking the strings on a
string instrument
 A musical instrument makes sounds. Once humans moved from making sounds with their bodies—
for example, by clapping—to using objects to create music from sounds, musical instruments
were born. Primitive instruments were probably designed to emulate natural sounds, and their
purpose was ritual rather than entertainment. The concept of melody and the artistic pursuit of
musical composition were unknown to early players of musical instruments. A player sounding a
flute to signal the start of a hunt does so without thought of the modern notion of "making
music".
 During the Classical and Romantic periods of music, lasting from roughly 1750 to 1900, a great
deal of musical instruments capable of producing new timbres and higher volume were
developed and introduced into popular music. The design changes that broadened the quality of
timbres allowed instruments to produce a wider variety of expression. Large orchestras rose in
popularity and, in parallel, the composers determined to produce entire orchestral scores that
made use of the expressive abilities of modern instruments. Since instruments were involved in

6
collaborations of a much larger scale, their designs had to evolve to accommodate the demands
of the orchestra.
 The music that composers make can be heard through several media; the most traditional way is to
hear it live, in the presence of the musicians (or as one of the musicians), in an outdoor or indoor
space such as an amphitheatre, concert hall, cabaret room or theatre. Live music can also be
broadcast over the radio, television or the Internet. Some musical styles focus on producing a
sound for a performance, while others focus on producing a recording that mixes together sounds
that were never played "live." Recording, even of essentially live styles, often uses the ability to
edit and splice to produce recordings considered better than the actual performance.
 Nowadays craze of music is been developing from the classes to the masses every one love to
listen to music and when they get to know more about the music they get attracted towards its
info for e.g a sound track includes large amount of musical instruments and compiling them all
makes a perfect track or a song which people listen they keep these tracks in their mobile phone
ipods etc.
 But when a person gets to know about the instrument in a song they would try playing that
instrument in that way and would learn its particular scales, chords etc.
 A musical instrument makes sounds. Once humans moved from making sounds with their bodies—
for example, by clapping—to using objects to create music from sounds, musical instruments
were born Primitive instruments were probably designed to emulate natural sounds, and their
purpose was ritual rather than entertainment The concept of melody and the artistic pursuit of
musical composition were unknown to early players of musical instruments. A player sounding a
flute to signal the start of a hunt does so without thought of the modern notion of "making
music".
 Now in this website one would surely visit to get a info about the particular instrument of india
they would get to know the complete information its images as well as some of the tutorial
videos. Watching that videos a music lover would learn how to play that instrument.
 As Musical instruments of india is broadly divided into five types we have given the info of these
types and but in future we can update this website by shoing more info in it as mmore and more
instruments are discovered.
 This Project shall increase the knowledge of any music lover. He or she may get info about the
musical instrument as well as they may certainly lear to play some instrument with the help of
beginner level videos. There are ample amount of photos available in the website by which music
lover may experience the instrument virtually.
 People who are visiting this website would know more and more info and in case they want to give
comment regarding the website one would easily do that.

9
PRELIMINARY SYSTEM ANALYSIS
In our day to day life we come across various information websites such as Google, Yahoo
etc. Every Website has a need to be developed and designed in such a way that the
information which is to be given need to be easy to understand and presentable.

1. Identification of need
Aswe all know that music makes every one grove no one in the country hate to listen to
music and where musical instrument are of india people would love to know more and more
information about it . The main purpose is to define all types of instrument of india as there
are various types of instruments. And various types of instrument are been used in various
music forms.

2. Preliminary Investigation
In previous days people who are music lovers or who want to know more information about
Musical instrument they use to talk to concerned person who use play that instrument but
nowadays each and every thing has become online people browse websites and use to even
learn music and would star as beginners. Therefore we created this website which helps in
giving information and may learn to play Indian musical instrument.

3. Feasibility Study

This is the stage where the feasibility is being studied by the developer for the project. The
feasibility study is useful to evaluate the cost and benefit of the new system requested. The
feasibility study tries to anticipate future scenarios of the software development.

There are three major aspects in the feasibility study:-

1. Feasibility of a system means whether the system is practically possible to build or

not. It also evaluates the benefits of the new system.
2. Feasibility is evaluated from developers and customer point of view.
3. The software/system that is to be developed in sufficient detail and it is found that
the system. Which is to be developed, is technically operationally and
economically feasible.

10
a)Technical Feasibility: -
The proposed system software is user friendly in natural for the user to perform all necessary
operation efficiently and effectively. The graphical user interface is a self-explanatory as
result there is no need of providing and kind of training to the user about the software
provided the user will definitely make the user operate the software efficiently.Technical
Feasibility centers on the existing computer system i.e. the availability of the required
hardware, software and operating system. This project in HTML which can easily be run on
any system with the required configuration. The technical feasibility always focuses on the
existing computer hardware and software.

b) Economical Feasibility: -

The cost of installing this project is not high, once installed, the project gives long than
benefit. Cost of hardware and the software is required to build the system is very much within
the reach of the organization, so it is possible to go ahead in the proposed system economic
point of view. Economical Feasibility is helpful for finding the system development cost and
benefit, it checks weather it is justifiable or not. For that it checks the software and hardware
costs etc. Economic analysis is the most frequently used method for evaluating the
effectiveness of a new system. Economical Feasibility is helpful for finding the system
development cost and benefit, it checks weather it is justifiable or not. For that it checks the
software and hardware costs etc. An entrepreneur must accurately weigh the cost versus
benefits before taking an action.

Need of New System
When you asked to computerize a system, as a requirement of the data processing or the
information need, it is necessary to analyze the system from different angles. While satisfying
such need, the analysis of the system is the basic necessity for an efficient system design. The
need for analysis stems from the following point of view.

System Objective: It is necessary to define the system objectives. Many a times, it is

observed that the systems are historically in operation and have lost their main purpose of
achievement of the objectives. The users of the system and the personnel involved are not in
a position to define the objectives. Since you are going to develop a computer based system,
it is necessary to redefine or reset the objectives as a reference point in the context of the
current business requirement.

System Boundaries: It is necessary to establish the system boundaries which would define
the scope and the coverage of the system. This helps to sort out and understand the
functional boundaries of the system, the department boundaries in the system, and the people
involved in the system. It also helps to identify the inputs and the outputs of the various sub-
systems covering the entire system.

System Importance: It is necessary to understand the importance of the system in the

organization. This would throw more light on its utility and would help the designer to
decide the design features of the system. It would be possible then to position the system in
relation to the other systems for deciding the design strategy and development.

Nature of The System: The analysis of the system will help the system designer to conclude
whether the system is the closed type or open, and a deterministic or probabilistic. Such an
understanding of the system is necessary, prior to design the process to ensure the necessary
design architecture.

Role of the System as an Interface: The system, many a times, acts as an interface to the
other systems. Hence through such an interface, it activates or promotes some changes in the
other systems. It is necessary to understand the existing role of the system, as an interface, to
safeguard the interests of the other systems. Any modifications or changes made should not
affect the functioning or the objective of the other systems.

Participation of Users: The strategic purpose of the analysis of the system is to seek the
acceptance of the people to a new development. System analysis process provides a sense of
participation to the people. This helps in breaking the resistance to the new development and
it also ensure the commitment to the new system.

Understanding of Resource Needs: The analysis of the system helps in defining the resource
requirements in terms of hardware and software. Hence, if any additional resources are
required, this would mean an investment. The management likes to evaluate the investment

12
form the point of view of return on such investment. If the return on the investment is not
attractive, the management may drop the project.

As per the old system like books or journals, or any other media, it is very difficult to view a
lot of featured contents as we can see using modern techniques such as reading e-books etc. If
we use the old technique, we can access only a limited amount of data and if we are in a
search of a particular topic then it becomes very difficult to search that content.

One of the biggest demerits of the old technique is that it consumes a lot of time while
present generation needs a fast and easy access to various contents in the same time. Books
have to be manually searched for the content that the reader requires. The exchange of
ancient collectibles was very time consuming as well as a complex process.

New system has following advantages:

1. Updating can be done very easily

2. A person who is surfing through the net can access more contents in less time.
3. Time is saved.
4. More knowledge in less time.
5. Exchange of collectibles is simple process nowadays.

PROJECT CATEGORY

The topic of “MUSICAL INSTRUMENT OF INDIA” can be well developed using a

website. The website is informative and hence, any useful information can be populated using
a website. The website is developing in HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language).

HTML: -

Hypertext markup language is used for designing different web pages and appearance. Due of
HTML tags different special effects of text, picture, animation effect, color, effect, text size
and font styles can define to make more effective web page.

To understand different web page construction strategies adopted for attractive web page
representation, we can observe HTML codes or sources while browsing the web. Most of the
web pages in different web sites are built up with HTML codes.

HTML document consist of different instruction. Each construction is called as “Element”.

For building the web are used all HTML tags. it provides a means to create structured
documents by using text such as heading, paragraphs, list etc.

BASIC STRUCTURE OF AN HTML:-

<Html>: - The tag identifies the document as an HTML document. Technically this tag is
after the <!DOCTYPE>tag, but it is necessary for older browsers that do not support the <!
DOCTYPE> tag. It is also helpful to people who read the HTML code.

<Head>: - The<HEAD> tag contains information about the document, including its title,
scripts used, style definitions, and document description. Not all browsers require this tag, but
most browsers expect to find any available additional information about the document within
the </HEAD> tag. Additionally, the <HEAD> tag contains other tag that has information for
search engines and indexing programs.

<Title>: - The<TITLE> tag specification require contains the document title. The title does
not appear within the browsers window, although it is usually visible in the browser’s title
bar. Between the opening and closing tags, includes a title that briefly summarizes your
document content.</TITLE>

<Body> :- The <BODY>encloses all tags, attributes, and information that you want a
visitor’s browsers to display. Almost everything else in this entire book takes place between
the </BODY>tags.

14
TAGS:

HTML TAG: This is the first tag in every HTML document. This tag indicates that the
content of the file is in the HTML language. The entire document is placed between the
<HTML> and </HTML>starts and ends tags.

HEAD TAG: The <HEAD> element includes the information about the HTML documents.
Information given within the<HEAD> is not displayed as part of the web page content.

TITLE TAG: The <TITLE> tag is used to specify the title of the HTML page. <TITLE> tag
is always placed inside the <head> tag and it does not accept any attribute.

BODY TAG: The <BODY> element forms the main body of the HTML document. We can
use the <body> tag to specify the background color and margins of the text in an HTML
page.

STYLE TAG: Style sheets are important components of HTML that make a web page
dynamic.

FONT TAG: The FONT element uses the <FONT>…. </FONT> tags to enclose and format
selected text.

LINE BREAK TAG : The <BR> tag breaks the line of text or graphic and simply jumps to
the start of the next line. It does not affect the font or the spacing of our document.

PARAGRAPH TAG: The paragraph <P> tag tells the browsers that, the text in our
document constitute a paragraph. The paragraph element is nested inside the <BODY>
element. The paragraph tag uses <P>…….. </P> tags. The closing tag </P> is optional.

HEADING TAG: We can use the heading element to specify the selected text as a heading
in an HTML document. We can specify up to six levels of headings. The heading element
uses container tags ranging from <H1> to <H6>.

ANCHOR TAG: anchor tag is used to create hyperlink by using <A>………</A> tag. The
<A> tag is mainly used for creating links to other web pages or within the same web page.
The text between <A> tag and </A> tags is known as hypertext and it is visible as an
underline hyperlink text to the user.

HREF TAG: HREF is an attribute of anchor element. The HREF attributes is used to specify
the path and file name of the HTML page that we need to access by using a hyperlink.

HEIGHT AND WIDTH TAG: The WIDTH and HEIGHT attribute are used to specify the
width and HEIGHT for image

IMAGE TAG: Image are essential to the design of a web page, as they give visual appeal
and also communicate an idea or concept easily. Generally, GIF and JPEG format files are
popularly used on the web.

15
MARQUEE TAG: The marquee tag is used to a scrolling effect for the selected text in an
HTML page. When we use this tag, the selected text is highlighted and scrolls from right to
left or vice versa. The marquee element uses the <MARQUEE>……… </MARQUEE> tag
to scroll the enclosed text.
