Character history

He was born in 1961, he grew up in Arusha, father was a business man, travelled a lot but they
settled in Arusha, he went in school in arusha for his primary and ordinary level school but for
high school he went in morogoro. He was friends with Mr. Bernard Swai who he started Focus
Media Group with but when Bernard was killed he changed the name to Swai media group. He is
responsible for the death of Bernard Swai and his wife, who died in a car accident.

As a young Guy he fell in love with a young woman called Sophia Laizer (mother of Fortunata),
they were very much in love but Baraka’s mother didn’t like her because she was from a poor
family and it was against culture to marry her. He left her ruthlessly. He then married the woman
of his mother’s choice, Anna.

CHILDHOOD

He had a complicated childhood, his father always pushed him around and urges him to work
hard in school, though he enjoyed school but the pressure from his parents was too much, he
liked his teachers, he was the first born and he had his sister, at age 12 his sister ate his food and
he got angry and hit her in the head and she died, when his parents asked what happened he said
she fell and hit her head down, nobody ever knew that he killed his sister, at this he changed and
became evil.

The only person he ever told this to was Sophia, a girl he fell in love with as a teenager, she
didn’t judge him, she understood what happened, and when his mother drove the girl away he
became even more evil and uncaring to this world and its inhabitants.

FRIENDS
Mr. Shola had two childhood friends, Bernard Swai (Amba’s father) and Mr. Kimario, until
when he found out that Bernard was sleeping with his wife; he organized a car accident that
killed him and his wife, the rest of his friend he just associates with them because of his business.

CIRCLE OF BEING

When he was at age 12 his sister ate his food and he got angry and hit her in the head and she
died accidentally, this ruined his personality and character, he became evil, he believes if nobody
else knows your demons then there is no need of admitting even if speculated.

Also as a young adult he fell in love with a girl named Sophia (Fortunata’s mother) but his
mother disliked her because she was of different tribe and lower class of living.

Point of view

He believes that everything has a price in life, failure, success, love, life itself has a price, and
that some things are just not meant for some people

Attitude

He is arrogant most of the times, he doesn’t talk to junior people, and he never appreciates good
work if it’s your duty to do so, he is known for making feel stupid when they talk to him.

Change

After having his daughter born he found purpose of surviving, he believed in life and love again,
although he didn’t completely loose the evil side of him, he will change when he meets Sophia
again.

He was born on 29/04/1987 in Arusha, he is the son of Bernard Swai, and they once spent a
weekend together, with Zipporah and his parents as kids. His father left him and he was raised
with his grandmother alone with his uncles, he did not adopt his father name for security reasons.
He is very humble and has a habit wanting to know the truth, he always wants to know why
people behave the way they behave and why?

He always wanted to become an investigator, he likes to dig and know the truth,

He grew up with Alice although Alice was a few years older than her, she was in love with him

Shija Rubinza, he is the only child from his mother. As a child his dad didn’t care about his
welfare at all, he was basically raised by his mother, he always thought that his father didn’t care
for him because he was dumb and stupid, as a child he had to work to provide for him and his
younger siblings, he went to primary school in mwanza and ordinary level educating level at
mwanza, his father used to abuse him, and beat him, as a child he thought he was worthless, he
was always taking the blame for the mistakes his siblings did.

As a child he was very hardworking because his father was not around much, he always felt left
