ACTIVITIES FOR SUMMER TODDLER CLASS:

1ST WEEK:
MONDAY: “SUN CATCHER”
Target Skills: Fine motor skills, creativity and color recognition

Materials: Oslo Paper, Colorful Cellophane, Glue & glue Cups

Procedure:

1. Cut the colorful cellophane into small squares.


2. Paste the cut out small squares onto the drawn picture in the oslo
paper.
3. Hang it in the window.

Take Note: This Art Activity helps the child to be creative &
teaches the child to explore and touch the things also cognize
different kinds of color. Display finished stained glass project in a
place where light can stream through the colored cellophane.

TUESDAY: “ FISH COLLAGE”


Target Skills: Finger Strength and dexterity, Creativity and
Imagination. Increasing impulse control, channeling aggressive
behavior to a more productive activity.

Materials: Colored paper (japanese paper), Glue & Glue Cups

Procedure: Tear the colored paper, crumple and paste onto the fish.
Take Note: The fish activity is related to the story of the rainbow fish.
WEDNESDAY: “ PAPER PLATE CRAB PAINTING”
Target Skills: Fine Motor Skills, Creativity and Imagination

Materials: Paper plate, Tempera paint, Googly Eyes, Glue & Glue Cups

Procedure:

1. Wear apron or oversized shirt.


2. Prepare color orange & red tempera paint and paint brush
3. Secure the paper plate crab and start painting.

Take Note: Working with paints allows children to hold and use
brushes properly.

THURSDAY: “TURTLE PAINTING & COLLAGE”

Target: Fine motor skills, Creativity and Imagination


Materials: Oslo paper, Green crepe paper and Crayons

Procedure:

1. Tear the crepe paper and crumpled


2. Color the turle
3. Start pasting the crumpled paper onto the turtle.

Take Note: This activity related to Franklin the turle story. Painting
& Collage are both fine motor skills activity child will enjoy.
FRIDAY: “BOAT LACING ACTIVITY”

Target: Fine motor skill, determination, finger strength


Materials: Boat Shape Paper, Yarn and Crayons

Procedure:
1. Tie the tip of the yarn at first hole of the paper boat the start
lacing.
2. Color the Boat.

Take Note: Activities like this strengthen those little fingers and
muscles. In addition, lacing activity helps children practice precursor
skills for shoe tying.

2ND WEEK:
MONDAY: “MINI ANIMAL BOOK”
Target skills: Finger strength, Color Recognition, Fine motor skills

Materials: Jumbo Crayons and Colorless Animal Pictures

Pocedure:

1. Print out colorless animal pictures.


2. Color the animals using jumbo crayons.

Take Note: This activity strengthens these little fingers and muscles and
helps the child to recognize the name of different colors.
TUESDAY: “COTTON BUD PAINTING”
Target skills: Fine motor skills, Creativity, and Imagination

Materials: Oslo paper, Cotton Buds, Different colors of tempera paints

Procedure:

1. Write the name of the child on the paper.


2. Let the child hold the cotton bud.
3. Dip the cotton bud in the tempera paint, should be different
colors until the name is covered with colorful dots.

Take Note: This activity help the child to explore & try different
things like using cotton buds, children will actually discover that
“Art” is everywhere.

WEDNESDAY: “TAPE PAINTING”


Target skills: Fine motor skills, Creativity and Imagination

Materials: Oslo paper, Masking tape, Black tempera paint & Paint brush

Procedure:

1. Put masking tape diagonally onto oslo paper. Alternate (Paper,


Making tape, Paper, Masking tape..)
2. Start painting until it’s covered with black tempera paint.
3. Remove the masking tape to see the result.

Take Note: This activity related to the book “How the zebra got
it’s stripe” It’s like magic! At the end the zebra stripe will appear.
THURSDAY: “BUBBLE WRAP PAINTING”

Target skills: Fine motor skills, Creativity and Imagination


Materials: Bubble wrap, Tempera, paints, Paint brush & Oslo
paper

Procedure:

1. Put Tempera paint in the bubble wrap by painting it.


2. Then press the bubble wrap onto the oslo paper until its
covered.
3. See the result, looks like Abstract.

Take Note: This activity is very fun activity, let the child mix and
combine tempera paints, use his/her muscles in hand by pressing the
bubble wrap onto the oslo paper.

FRIDAY: “FOX COLLAGE”


Target skills: Fine motor skill, Creativity and Imagination

Materials: Paper plate, tempera pain/water color, Art paper

Procedure:

1. Cut out fox shape paperplate


2. Paint it brown and paste the cut out pieces of art paper.

Take Note: This activity helps the child to hold crayons and
explore touching things like glue by pasting activity.
3RD WEEK:

MONDAY: “ANT SHAPES PASTING ACTIVITY”

Target skills: Fine motor skill, Shapes recognition, Creativity &


Imagination
Materials: Bond paper, Cored paper, Glue & Glue cups

Procedure:

1. Cut out different shapes from colored paper.


2. Draw an ant pattern then let the child paste the correct
shapes onto the pattern.

Take Note: This activity helps the child to recognize shapes and
create pattern using shapes.

TUESDAY: “LEAF LACING ACTIVITY”


Target skills: Fine motor skill, Determination, Finger strength

Material: Colored paper green, Yarn

Procedure:

1. Cut out green leaf pattern with holes


2. Tie the tip of the yarn at the first hole and start lacing it.
Take Note: Activities like this strengthen those little fingers and
muscles. In addition, lacing activity helps children practice precursor
skills for shoe tying.

WEDNESDAY: “COLOR AND PASTE THE SPOTS OF THE LADY


BUG”
Target skills: Fine motor skills, Finger strength, Creativity & Imagination

Materials: Bond paper, Colored paper, Glue & Glue Cups

Procedure:

1. Draw a lady bug pattern.


2. Cut out black spot 10 pcs.
3. Start color it red then count and paste the spots.

Take Note: This activity helps the child to count and strengthen
those little fingers and muscles.
SENSORY BINS: Sensory play enhances learning through hands-
on activities that stimulate the child's senses. This is a great way for
children to explore the world they live in! Sensory play supports language
development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving
skills, and social interaction.

GROSS MOTOR ACTIVITIES:


A motor skill is simply an action that involves your baby using his
muscles. Gross motor skills are larger movements your baby makes with
his arms, legs, feet, or his entire body. So crawling, running, and jumping
are gross motor skills. Fine motor skills are smaller actions.
