 The coursework should exhibit formal research skills i.e. with a table of

proposed guidelines in conjunction to your research. Additional marks will be

 Extensions
Authorisation of the late submission of work requires written permission.
Your lecturer is authorised to give permission for one extension period of
between 1 and 10 working days where appropriate evidence of good reason
has been accepted and where submission within this timescale would be
reasonable taking into account your circumstances. Requests for extensions
should be made prior to the submission date as extensions cannot be given
retrospectively.

 Late submissions
If you submit work late without authorisation, a universal penalty will be
applied in relation to your work. The appended table summarises the
SEGi/UCLAN penalties.

Individual Assignment (25%)

Question:

Select TWO (2) organizations in the same industry from the list below. Research
some of the latest news and activities about each company and its officers in the same
period of time and strictly pertaining to ethical aspects. You are required to evaluate
how "ethical" are the business practices of each company compared to the other
company within the same industry and support your justification by applying FOUR
(4) ethical theories. Lastly, propose FOUR (4) recommendations on how the
companies should overcome the unethical business activities.

List of Companies and Industry (choose ONE only) :

 Enron (US) and British Petroleum (UK) - Energy industry


 Coca-cola (US) and Carlsberg (Denmark) - Beverage and alcohol industry

Group Assignment (10%)

Question:

Students are required to form a group with 3-4 students. Select ANY ONE (1)
multinational company (MNC) or small medium enterprise (SME) that has done a
video advertisement on their product and services to influence and persuade their
customers. Students are require to discuss the background, history, product and
services of the company in detail. Evaluate the chosen company based on the
perspective of social effects, effects on desire, and effects on belief. Evaluate to
what extent the selected company advocated the ethics in their business practices.
Discuss whether the chosen company are complying with consumer rights in
producing good products and services to the consumer. Lastly, provide FOUR (4)
recommendations on how the company could improve the video advertisement on the
product and services to the consumers.

Group Presentation (15%)

Students are required to present their group assignment findings in a group of 3 or 4 to


present the findings. The duration for presentation will be 15 minutes.

Time allocation for each person is 2.5 – 3 minutes. Each group is given 15 minutes
excluding Q & A.

Prepare a Power Point presentation with other relevant visual aids. Submit a copy of
the Power Point slides on the presentation date. The scheduled times will be
discussed and informed accordingly during the class.

The total marks for this assignment is 100% but it carries 15% of overall assessment
for this module.

 Marks allotted for all the criteria’s will be assessed separately according to
individual presentation.
