1.Preposition ‫حروف اضافه‬
1.1.Definition : is a word which is used to show the relationship between two persons or
things.
.‫ کلمهً است که برای نشان دادن رابطه میان دو شخص و یا دو شی استعمال می شود‬:‫حرف اضافه‬

Ex. Ahmad is walking on the street.

Ex. The chair is near the door.
1.2.Types of preposition:
There are some prepositions which are common which are as following:
 Preposition of time
 Preposition of place
 Preposition of things
 Phrasal Prepositions
Here we are discussing only the preposition of time and place.

1.2.Types of preposition:
1.2.1. preposition of time: shows the relationship of time between the nouns and to the others parts of
sentences.
‫ و بعضی از حروف اضافه زمان که خیلی معمول‬S.‫ ارتباط زمان را میان اسم و اجزای دیگر جمله را نشان میدهد‬:‫حروف اضافه زمان‬
.‫استند قرار ذیل است‬
On, at, in, from, to, for, since, ago, before, till/until, by, etc. are the most common preposition of time.

Example: he started working at 10 AM.

The company called meeting on 25 of October.
There is a holiday in December.
He has been ill since Monday.
At – this preposition of time is udsed to discuss clock times , holiday, and festivals, and other very specific
time frames including exceptions such as ( at night)
In- this preposition of time is used to discuss months, seasons, years, centuries, general times if day, and
long period of time such as ( in the past).
On- this preposition of time is used to discuss certain days of the week or portion of days of the week,
specific data, and specific days such as ( on new year’s day).

1.2.2.Preposition of place and direction: shows the relationship of place between the noun to the other parts
of a sentence.
‫ و بعضی از حروف اضافه زمان که خیلی معمول استند‬.‫ ارتباط مکان را میان اسم و اجزای دیگر جمله را نشان میدهد‬:‫حروف اضافه مکان‬
.‫قرار ذیل است‬

On, at, in, by, from, to, towards, up, down, across, between, among, though, in front of, and so on, are the most
common preposition of place.
Example: he is at home.
He came from England.
The police broke into the house.
I live across the river.
At – A preposition of place which is used to discuss a certain point
In – A preposition of place which is used to discuss an enclosed space
On – A preposition of time which is used to discuss a surface

Conjunction ‫حرف ربط‬
Conjunction is a word which is used to join two words or two sentences.
.‫حرف ربط کلمه است که دو کلمه و یا جمله را با هم وصل میکند‬
Ex. Ahmad and salim are brothers but they do not study well.
‫ اما آنها خوب درس نمیخوانند‬S‫احمد وسلیم برادرها هستند‬
Conjunction are divided in to two parts:‫حرف ربط به دو دسته تقسیم میشوند‬
1. Coordinating conjunction ‫حرف ربط هم پایه‬
2. Subordinating conjunction ‫حرف ربط فرعی‬

1.Coordinating conjunctions ‫حرف ربط هم پایه‬

The coordinating conjunction are used to join coordinating sentences.
S‫حرف ربط همپایه آن دسته از حروف ربطی هستند که جمالت همپایه را با هم ربط میدهند‬
Example: I am a teacher and he is a student.
‫من معلم هستم و او یک متعلم‬
We have seven coordinating conjunction in English language which are FANBOYS that they stand for
(for, and, not, but, or, yet, so).

2. Subordinating conjunction: ‫حروف ربط فرعی‬
Subordinating conjunctions are those which join the subordinating sentences with main sentences.
S.‫حروف ربط فرعی آن دسته حروف ربطی هستند که جمالت فرعی را با جمالت اصلی ربط میدهند‬
The subordinating conjunction consist in:
:‫این حروف ربط عبارت اند از‬
Who, whom, whose, which, what, that, if, as if, whether, unless, because, as long as, when, where, then,
as soon as, while…etc.
Example:
 I will see you as soon as I get time.
 The members of the parliament held the session although the agenda was not clear.
 We cannot comment unless we know what the matter is.
.‫همین که وقت بیایم شما را خواهم دید‬ 
.‫اعضای پارلمان با آن که برنامه معلوم نبود جلسه را دایر نمودند‬ 
