 3 OBJECTIVE : The Diesel generator set is required for the uninterrupted
operation of the test benches used for different types of testing.

5 Rating : 63kVA, three phase ,415Vac ,50Hz.

Engine : The engine shall be four stroke,naturally aspirated capable of
developing suitable horse power to drive the alternator while running.
The engine should be suitable for continuous duty and capable of
developing 10% excess of its rated output in every 12hours continuous
running without undue heating or mechanical trouble. It should also be
possible to start the set manually as and when required

6 Control panel specifications

The control is to be fabricated with atleast 16SWG sheet and powder
coated after proper process.

The control panel shall consist of suitable CT and Vt for current and voltage

 7 DG set specifications
Enclosure : The enclosure shall be powder coated and fabricated with atleast 16SWG
sheet. Canopy panel and doors shall have inside lining of fire-retardant foam .Four hinged
doors shall be provided to canopy, one door shall have a glass window for control panel.

8 Base frame : Base frame shall be fabricated from sheet metal. The base frame shall have a
provision for mounting the enclosure and control panel on it.The base frame shall have
the provision of lifting hook for convenient lifting of complete set

9 Exhaust system : The exhaust system and noise suppressor shall be provided with thermal
insulation by using fire retardant/non igniting foam to prevent excess heat radiation on
the engine and safe for operator.
Silencer : Absorption type non-resistance silencer insulated from inside with glass wool
shall be provided to suppress exhaust noise from the engine.
Wiring and lighting : PVC copper wire concealed in flexible conduit with florescent tube
light/bulb with MCB shall be provided.

10 Fuel tank: Fuel tank shall be fabricated out of 14SWG and must be the part of base frame.
It should be painted and fitted with inlet and outlet connections. Float gauge and fuel float
switch to be provided.
Emergency push stop button : The canopy shall have the provision of emergency push
button , which shall be housed in a protective enclosure with a glass front

11 General conditions
1) The suppliers shall quote the list of essential spare parts for each item ,for minimum
five years satisfactory operation.
2) The offer shall include technical documents operating instruction ,maintenance
schedule, service manuals and foundation details for mounting and schematic drawing
with electrical control diagram for diesel generator set.
3) Terminal box must be big enough for making connections as and when required.
4) Axial ventilation for better cooling.
5) Electrical performance : Apart from voltage regulation characteristics the unit shall
have the following :
- protection against low speed regulation
- Over voltage protection in case of regulator failure
- Diesel engine shall be provided with the silencer to nhave a noise free operation.

12 Part list, instruction manual and drawings.

a) Supplier shall provide one set of each of spare parts list, operation instruction manual
and workshop maintenance manual covering all items alongwith the generator set.
b) Supplier shall provide one set of drawing showing installation details of generating set
wiring diagram for the control panel and wiring drawing for the control panel shall be
provided with the generator set.
c) Supplier shall provide a list of recommended spare parts for five years normal
operation alongwith the materials.

 13 Inspection and tests
a) Diesel generator set may be subjected for inspection at CPRI,Bhopal. CPRI reserves the
right for inspection but such inspection shall not relieve the supplier of his responsibility
to ensure that the equipment supplied is free from all manufacturing and other defects
and conform to correct specifications.
b) The supplier shall ensure the satisfactory installation and commissioning of DG set at
CPRI,Bhopal. The commissioning test shall include full load testing of the generator set to
demonstrate the output , performance and all other characteristics of DG set in the
presence of CPRI representatives.
