Q3. Answer the following questions:
1. How do mosquitoes find us?
A1. Mosquitoes find us by the smell of our body, smell of the
sole of our feet and the heat of our body.
2. Why does the dog sniff here or there?
A2. Dogs mark out their own areas on the road. They can
make out if another dog has come into their areas by the smell
of its urine or potty.
3. How do snakes hear?
A3. Snakes do not have external ears which we can see. They
only feel the vibration on the ground.
4. How do birds give alarm call?
A4. Birds give alarm call by making different sounds for
different kinds of dangers. For example, there is a different
warning call if enemy is coming from the sky or if the enemy
is on the ground.
5. How do birds focus? Write the names of some birds
which have eyes on the either side of the head.
A5. Most of the birds have their eyes on either side of the
head. Their eyes can focus on two different things at a time.
When they look straight ahead, both eyes focus on the same
object.
Following birds have eyes on either side of the head:
a. Pigeon
b. Sparrow
c. Parrot
d. Crow etc…..

6. What super sense does a tiger have?


A6. Tigers have a very sharp sense of hearing. It can
differentiate the rustling of leaves and sounds of animals
moving on the grass. His ears can move in different directions
to catch sounds from all around.
7. Who are hunters and poachers?
A7. Hunters and poachers are people who catch and kill
animals. They kill them for their skin, tusk, bones, teeth and
horn etc.
8. What is the reason for decreasing number of some
animals? What steps are being taken to protect these
animals?
A8. The reason for the decreasing number of some animals is
hunting and poaching. The animals are hunted on a large scale
for their skin, bones, teeth etc.
To protect these animals, the government has made forests as
protected areas.
They have made National parks, Wildlife sanctuaries and
Biospheres.
In these areas nobody can hunt the animals and destroy the
jungle.
9. Name few National parks and their location in India.
