Chemistry Systems: MIURA DA and OEMs

Miura One and OEMs
MIURA 200 SA / DA and OEMs

Date: Jun 18, 2019

Issue: P/N 11047-00-A, ZRP3 2H-Aspiration Pump
EPDM spare parts kit and servicing instructions

1 GENERAL
This bulletin applies to the following systems:
• Miura Single ARM and Double ARM (all versions) and related OEMs.
• Miura One (all versions) and related OEMs.
• Miura 200 Single ARM and Double ARM systems (all versions) and related OEMs.
that use a configuration with the following diaphragm aspiration pump belonging on EAD brand:

Washing station aspiration diaphragm pump (for p/n 11047-00-A, ZRP3 2H-Aspiration Pump
washing station aspiration needles):

It notifies the possibility to replace ruined EPDM rubber parts into the pump heads by a single spare
parts kit.

This reduces the cost of service as it avoids the substitution of the entire pump and gives complete
parts to replace all at the same time when opening the head.

The ZRP3 Double Head pump spare parts kit purchasing code is P3140000448 – please ask our sales
office for quote and orders. The spare parts kit is for the double head and includes:
• Q.ty 1 membranes
• Q.ty 4 O-rings
• Q.ty 2 Shutters (valves).

2 SPARE PARTS REPLACEMENT WORK INSTRUCTIONS

To assure a proper handling of the pump, the
system must be unplugged from the electric
power supply and the pump must be taken out of
the instrument to work comfortably.

Follow the steps below.

In the following, the term “membrane” and

“diaphragm” are just the same.

DISMOUNTING HOUSING COVER

1) First of all, remove the corresponding two
housing cover screws as shown in figure.

2) Very carefully, use a flathead screwdriver to

press the plastic piece inside the hole and apply a
slight lever force slowly to remove the cover as
shown in figure.
Note that on the opposite side there is another
plastic piece that also needs to be pushed with
the screwdriver.

3) Now you can extract the housing cover with

your hand as shown in figure.

4) Use the same procedure shown above for the

extraction of the other housing cover.

DISMOUNTING HEAD GROUP

5) The first thing that must be done is unscrewing
all 4 screws following the order shown in figure A
and holding the head while the screwdriver is
positioned perpendicular to the surface as in
figure B.

6) The head group needs to be separated from
the body supplement as shown in figure.

7) When separated, the diaphragm (membrane)

is seen embedded to the body. See figure aside.

DISMOUNTING DIAPHRAGM
8) The diaphragm should be pushed down and
towards the shock absorbers or in the opposite
way, never in the direction of the fan or the
motor’s housing.
Next, with one hand maintain pressure on the
diaphragm until you are able to hold its border
with the other hand. Figure aside shows the step
by step process.
9) Then unscrew the diaphragm from the
connecting rod CCW (counter-clockwise) like
shown in figure.

10) When the diaphragm is removed, you can see

the inside of the body.

MOUNTING NEW DIAPHRAGM

11) Before mounting the diaphragm, it is
recommended to put the rod on its higher point
as possible. This will facilitate threading the
diaphragm clockwise.
Figures aside show both conditions, the lower
position must be avoided.

Rod properly positioned (on higher point)

Rod unproperly positioned (on lower point)

NOT RECOMMENDED

12) Hold the rod with one hand and the

diaphragm with the other as seen in figure A.

13) Place the diaphragm perfectly flat and thread

it to the rod as in figure B.

A- B-

14) Screw the diaphragm to the connecting rod

clockwise like in figure.

15) When the diaphragm is fully inserted into the

thread, hold its edge with both hands and tighten
the screw to ensure a perfect fixing. The figure
shows how to proceed.

16) Finally, we must confirm that the diaphragm

has been mounted well centered on its position
on the body. Figures aside show both the correct
and the wrong positioning of the diaphragm.

Diaphragm properly centered

Diaphragm not properly centered

SEPARATING HEAD GROUP

17) Before we have explained how to dismount
the complete head group from the body to get
parts as the figure aside.
Let’s consider the head group.

18) First of all, we must separate and take out the

head cover.

19) Sometimes you need to remove an O-ring

stuck to the head cover, like shown in the figure
aside.

20) Now, upper head and lower head must be

separated. This can be easily done keeping the
lower head with one hand and softly raising the
upper head with the other.

21) When the entire head group has been

separated, replace all 4 O-rings using a
screwdriver to help you like in figure.

LOWER HEAD
22) The main issue that can appear with the lower
head is the condition of the dome. Sometimes
rubber residuals or other particles gets attached
to the dome of the lower head, mainly due to the
movement of the diaphragm. Figure gives an
example.
Before being ready to be reassembled with the
upper head, the lower head must have a
perfectly clean dome. If it’s impossible to clean it
properly, the lower head should be changed by a
new one after dismantling all shutters from it (see
following point).

REPLACING SHUTTERS
23) Begin with extracting the old shutters as in
figure, using a flat thin screwdriver. Avoid any
damage to the plastic parts.

24) Place the new shutters into their housing.

Shutters have two different sides, one with a matte
surface and the other with a brighter side. This
difference can be seen easily in the shutter (see
figure aside).

25) In order to properly replace the shutters, pay

attention on the differences between the
housings. It’s imperative to position the bright
shutter on his housing as in the figure.

26) Then place the other shutter with matte side

into his housing as shown in figures.

MOUNTING HEAD GROUP

27) Assemble the parts in the order as shown in the
picture aside. First, place the upper head over the
lower head and the head cover over the upper
head.

28) After assembling the head group, place it

correctly above the diaphragm and press it down
until the end to find the correct position before
screwing.
Remember to assure the properly position of the
diaphragm – see picture aside.

29) Following the order indicated in figure fasten

all 4 screws per each head using one hand to
hold the pump and press the head group and the
other hand to hold the screwdriver positioned
perpendicular to the surface as in figure.
All screws must be tightened with a proper
screwdriver at a torque level of 2,5Nm.

MOUNTING HOUSING COVER

30) For assembling the housing cover, place it as
shown in the picture and press it down smoothly
feeling the housing cover sliding through the
guides marked in red in the figure.
After hearing the click at the end of the slide,
screw and tight the two screws to fix the housing
cover.

When service on the pump is finished, the pump should be checked properly by running it over
several cycles like during Cuvette Washing cycles. Check for correct performance as vacuum
level, flow, leaks, etc.
