Standards and Accreditations

We offer design, site support and supervision services for Earthing & Lightning Protection in accordance
with the new BS EN 62305. Design of earthing systems to BS 7430:2011 and Local Codes of practice, Soil
Resistivity Tests & Reports, Earth Resistance Tests & Reports, Inspection and supervision on sites for
installation of LPS.
Wallis work internationally with consultants, contractors and power engineering concerns either directly
and through our comprehensive network of distributors.

COMPANY HISTORY
A N Wallis & Co Ltd was established in 1946 as a Non Ferrous Foundry and shortly afterwards extended
its scope to include the manufacture and marketing of its own range of Lightning Conductor and Earthing
Products.
A N Wallis has always been based in Nottingham and moved to the present site in the mid-fifties. The
factory was designed and purpose built to comprise of a two storey office block, a non-ferrous foundry,
machine shop and warehousing. In 2009 the business acquired large industrial units which
accommodates the company’s latest investment and the most up to date technology in Copper and
aluminium tape production plant.

A N Wallis is growing rapidly and becoming a recognised leader in the manufacture of Earthing, Lightning
Protection & Exothermic welding equipment, employing 44 people and turnover £17.5 million. Main areas
of activity are the UK, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Wallis are proud to be accredited with BSI ISO 9001: (2008). Products include copper & aluminium
conductor tape, earth rods, clamps and fixings as well as exothermic welding sold under the brand name
CU-NNECT. We also manufacture Low Voltage Surge Protection (SPD’s) sold utilised to protect
electronic devices from the harmful effects or electrical surges.
In recent years there has been substantial capital investment in new manufacturing technology to
increase our business efficiency. This has ensured the business has continued to grow and remain at the
forefront of the earthing and lightning protection industry. The continued investment contributes towards
cost effective products, consistent quality and minimal delivery time to you the customer.
In addition to Wallis branded products the company also manufactures copper tape and fittings to
customers own design and specification, including, where required, company name, logo or trademark.
Manufacturing takes place through three divisions with the emphasis on quality and customer service.
EARTHING AND LIGHTNING PROTECTION DIVISION

This is the company's largest division. Its core business is the design, manufacture and marketing of
Earthing and structural lightning protection equipment.
The products are sold literally all over the world direct to very large clients such as ABB, Siemens and
Toshiba as well as sales through a network of agents in the Middle East, Far East, Africa and UK.
Wallis enjoys significant market share in these areas and is a well-established brand name.
Wallis earthing & lightning protection products comply with British (BSEN 62305, 50164, 62561 BS7430),
International and most other influential world standards including the new European Standard BSEN
62305.

CU-NNECT (EXOTHERMIC WELDING)
Cu-nnect Exothermic welding equipment compliments the earthing & lightning protection range. It
provides a totally portable method of producing welded connections without the need for any external
power source (gas, compressed air or electricity) therefore perfect for greenfield project sites or isolated
locations. The joints produced are of great electrical & mechanical integrity, ideal for copper conductors
and for copper to steel surfaces. Cu-nnect is utilised on substations and power stations earthing projects
throughout the Middle East, UK and Far East.
WALLIS SURGE PROTECTION DIVISION
Wallis Surge Protection (WSP) division manufacture a wide range of Low Voltage products to protect
electronic systems from transient over voltages, caused either by lightning or by the switching of motors.
Electronic equipment is frequently damaged from the effects of over voltages for which WSP offer a
range of products to protect against. WSP Surge protection products meet the requirements of BS EN
62305.
FOUNDRY DIVISION
The Wallis Foundry Division specialises in the manufacture of aluminium & copper based alloy products.
With an experienced work force and extensive range of production facilities we provide a diverse range of
products with the emphasis on quality and customer service. The core UK client base includes Water
Authorities, Rail Industry and various water and gas valve manufacturing companies.

STANDARDS
Wallis Earthing equipment & Cu-nnect Exothermic welding are used in the construction of power stations,
substations & power transmission networks. Earthing materials produced by Wallis comply with the
requirements of British Standard BS7430:1998 ‘Earthing’, & IEEE80.
Lightning protection is installed on buildings in order to protect life within the building as well as the
