Ring and Star.

(a) What do you understand by non-persistent CSMA? Explain in detail.
(b) Distinguish between point to point and multi point connections.
(c) What is fixed routing? What are the advantages and disadvantages of adaptive
routing?
(d) What is World Wide Web? Draw and Explain architectural overview of the World
Wide Web.
(e) What do you understand by Layered Protocol? Why do we use it?.
(f) Discuss in detail Connection Oriented and Connectionless services.

(a) Explain ALOHA in detail. A slotted ALOHA network transmits 200 bit frames on a
shared channel of 200 kbps. What is the throughput if the system (all stations
together) produces?
(i) 1000 frames per second
(ii) 500 frames per second
(iii) 250 frames per second
(b) What is internetworking? Discuss the requirements of internetworking.
 (c) What do you understand by checksum? How is IPv4 header checksum calculated?

(a) Describe credit scheme used by TCP for flow control. What provision could be made
for credit allocations that are lost or misordered in transit?
(b) Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of performing congestion control at the
transport layer, rather than at the network layer.
(c) Explain UDP protocol and its applications? What does UDP provide that it not
provided by IP?

(a) What are the main characteristics of DNS? Explain the functions of HTTP.
(b) What do you understand by ATM? Explain cell header format in ATM and briefly
describe the four service classes of ATM.
(c) Discuss a complete model of Network Security. What is FIREWALL and how it is
useful for network security?
