VIDEO TUTORIAL: teaching a practical skill

Decide an activity that you can do and explain in detail the process recording a video tutorial.

Plan how you will explain the process in around 5-8


minutes and make any notes that can help you.

Make sure you know all the vocabulary you will need and,
if you don’t, check your dictionary or ask your teacher.

Think about:

• Any specialised vocabulary you need.


• Any props or diagrams you could use to help you.
• How you can gesture or mime to explain the skill.
• Be ready to answer questions from a target audience.

You should use the phrases from the Useful Language box
to describe the process.

You can find many different examples of video tutorials on


the Internet (e.g. a recipe, any crafts or DIY, a magic trick,
a yoga/mindfulness session, a make-up tutorial).

When you have recorded your video, UPLOAD it to the


Media library of Educamadrid (https://mediateca.educa.madrid.org/) and send the URL using
the task in the Virtual Classroom.
