DARPA Subterranean Challenge – Autonomous Battery Swapping for Quadcopters
● Developed a battery swapping system that mounts to mobile robots conducting search and rescue as well as mapping
operations under ground and in confined spaces
● System can perform two battery swaps taking only 30 seconds to remove, discard, and replace a battery using a
motorized scissor lift mechanism
● Designed proprietary hot swapping battery interface capable of handling more than 100 Amps of current continuously
Mobile Robot – Navigating to Position with Collision Avoidance
● Developed PID controller to navigate differential drive robot to a fixed position using an inertial measurement unit
● Created a system using an ultrasonic sensor to detect obstacles and make changes in the path to avoid them
Predicting Abnormal Operation of Silicon Etching Machines using Machine Learning
● Programmed an unsupervised learning model to predict deviations from normal operating conditions for a silicon
etching machine using principle component analysis (PCA), self-organizing maps (SOM) and Hotelling’s T-squared
● Identified 100% of actual process deviations with a false-positive rate of 7%
