Episode 1

Let me pamper you!

Let me pamper you!

Nakano, a hard-working employee who has become exhausted by his difficult daily work.
Senko, who resides in the spirit realms has come down to earth in order to pamper him. First,
when he was returning home after overtime, he was welcomed to her cooking.

Will the 800 year old loli fox girl heal the tired Nakano?!

One night, when Nakano returned home late at night he was greeted by the figure of a loli fox
girl whom he did not recognize! The girl was Senko, an 800 year old messenger of the gods.
After seeing the exhausted Nakano, she said that she had come to take care of him. Listening
to her her words that he could be spoiled without hesitation, he tells her he wants to touch her
beautiful tail.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

It’s the story of when I went pampering during the springtime. That was the time my tail had
been touched. Ever since that time, let's take care of my divine tail every day.

Both have aburaage (deep fried tofu)

Rather, it’s better to be spoiled without having to think about anything!

Nakano, who was told that he could be spoiled to his hearts content by Senko, told her that he
wanted to fluff her tail. Wrapped in her wonderful fur, he was healed. In addition, the knee
pillow gave him a nostalgic feeling.

One Point

Nakano’s childhood memories. These are fox ears if I’m not mistaken?

The reason Senko came to take care of Nakano was not just because “He was my type of
handsome guy.” Apparently Senko seems to have had a connection of some sort with one of
Nakano’s ancestors. Was she watching over him from the heavenly realms because of that?

Page 6
Episode 2

I’ll pamper you again when you return today!

It's okay to be embarrassed.

The secret to pampering Nakano is Senko's Ear Cleaning and Knee Pillow.

Today, Senko decides to clean his room while the exhausted Nakano goes to work. While
doing laundry and cooking, Senko found a number of dishes and tableware. It looks like he had
fully planned on enjoying living alone. Nakano, who returned by the last train was moved by the
sight that laid before his eyes.

When Nakano wakes up, the Senko’s figure still remains. Apparently yesterdays events were
not a dream. However, Nakano did not have enough time to speak with her fully before he left
for work. While she was unable to see him, Senko was hard at work cleaning his room, doing
laundry, and cooking. She had plenty of pampering for Nakano when he returned home on the
last train.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

He became entranced from my ear-picking. But, I was surprised when he put his fingers into
my ears... I forgave him after a weeks worth of aburaage (deep fried tofu).

Nakano is healed by Senko's ear-picking, which has been described as "Healing the Daimyou
(feudal lords) of the entire country." Later, in exchange for the ear-picking Nakano starts to fluff
her ears, but his fingers end up going deep inside them. Senko involuntarily makes this
expression.

One Point

Fox fire is not only used as a source of light, Senko also uses it when cooking.

Even though he's still puzzled by the situation, Nakano has started to live with Senko. Thanks
to this encounter, Nakano's unhealthy daily life will gradually improve. It's a series of knee
pillows, ear picking, fluffing, laying together, and other enviable things. But behind it all, it
seems to be noisy for the neighbours.

Page 8
Episode 3

Someone who brings food can’t possibly be a bad person.

It’s fine as long as you’re happy.

The next-door neighbour Koenji comes over complaining to "Keep it down!". Nakano
apologizes, but doesn't know how to explain his own relationship with Senko. Senko calls her
relationship as “Wife-and-mother".

The neighbour Koenji's invasion.

Shopping for the first time with Senko.

Annoyed by the voices of Nakano and Senko playing games, the female neighbour burst into
the room. While eating meat and potatoes, Senko hears the woman introduce herself as Koenji.
Somehow they were able to dodge the question of their relationship, as well as the real identity
of Senko. Several days later, Senko went to the supermarket with Nakano to go shopping.

Japanese Menu

Senko’s Special Meat and Potatoes

Garnish, Aburaage (deep fried tofu), Lotus Root, Turnip and Radish Stew, Pickled Cucumber

Recipe

Senko’s Meat and Potatoes is a splendid assortment of different dishes. Potatoes are an
excellent source of Vitamin C, Folic Acid, and Potassium. Even more, they maintain their
deliciousness even when boiled and cooled down. Because of that reason, it's an irresistible
dish whenever Koenji is hungry.

Ingredients (2 Servings)

Sliced Beef (120 g), Potatoes (3), Carrots (1/3), Onion (1/2), Shirataki Noodles (80 g), Water (100
ml), Sugar (1/2 Tbsp), Cooking Sake (1/2 Tbsp), Mirin (1/2 Tbsp), Soy Sauce (1/2 Tbsp)

(1) Cut the potato, carrots, and onion into bite sized pieces.

(2) Add oil to a frying pan, add the cut vegetables from (1) as well as the beef and fry. Once
coated in oil, add all of the seasonings except for the Soy Sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.

(3) Once boiled remove the layer of scum on top and add the Shirataki Noodles.

(4) Place a lid on top and boil for 5 minutes. Afterwards add the Soy Sauce.

(5) Boil for 5 more minutes without the lid.

Page 9
One Point

Yoko-chan, the main character of “Inari Shoujo Yoko-chan”, a show that Koenji enjoys.

In the third episode, after the neighbour Koenji's outburst the relationship between Nakano and
Senko grew deeper. Although there isn't a fluff scene, with Yoko-chan in the game, the number
of characters with high fluff-ability has increased. Don't miss even one person!

Senko, who couldn't just let the empty refrigerator go unnoticed got the idea to go shopping at
the supermarket. However, Nakano didn't think she would be able to go on her own looking
how she did, and followed along with her. For the first time in hundreds of years, Senko went
into the city. Making use of the divine power over agriculture, she became a connoisseur of
fresh vegetables.

If shopping with me makes you happy, that’s a different story.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

When Koenji came over, I was somehow able to take care of things with my quick-wittedness.
But, I still don't know why an animation moves.

Why do you have to work on your day off!?

Senko who saves Nakano from working on holidays!

Senko's battle with modern household appliances!

Let’s indulge in sleep together!

Translated by ヒップスターザメ

Seeing Nakano upset that he had to work on his day off, Senko offered to wake him up in the
morning. However, the next morning he didn't really wake up. When she saw him like that,
Senko went back to sleep with him.

Nakano, looking even more ragged than usual said that he had to go in on Sunday, his day off.
Seeing the him like that, Senko tried to convince him to come sleep, by seduce him with her
tail. One rainy day, while Nakano is busy at work, Senko finally challenges the household
appliances. But despite her enthusiasm, the household appliances wouldn’t listen and ran out
of control.

Senko, left alone while Nakano had gone to work, decided to use the household appliances.
Eager to master their use, she flipped on the switches, but using the air conditioner, vacuum
cleaners, and washing machines didn't go well. Ultimately, the breaker flipped…

One Point

Senko is 800 years old, but only wears glasses when reading books. All sorts of knowledge are
written down in Senko's Secret Notebook. However, it seems that she often doesn't
understand when reading the explanation for modern household appliances. This time, Senko
found herself at the mercy of the appliances, but will she come to master them yet one day?

Episode 5

If it’s a tail, it’s mine right?

The second fox demigod, Shiro, appears!

Bath time with Senko!?

Rubbing Shiro's head in a special way!!

When Nakano returns home, there's another unknown white fluff beside Senko… Her name is
Shiro, the divine fox demigod. She said she came to eat food. But it seems like her purpose
was more than that.

A new fox demigod, Shiro, appears in front of Nakano, who had now become accustomed to
living with Senko. Unlike Senko, Shiro goes at her own pace. Will she let Nakano rub her head?
After a few days, Nakano returns home and takes a long-awaited bath. When he does so,
Senko is worried about his fatigue, and goes to get in the bath with him in order to wash his
back!

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

I was surprised by the sudden arrival of Shiro... There was no sign of her returning home so I
had no choice but to prepare dinner. It seems like he's a fluff lover.

Nakano takes a bath for the first time in a few days. After a short while, Senko came to wash
his back. While feeling embarassed, he's drawn to the base of Senko's tail. Will they bathe
together!?

One Point

At first, fried tofu was a substitute, but it become indispensable to the fox gods.

Originally, the fox's favourite food was meat. In the past, rat tempura had been presented as an
offering. However, because of the buddhist teachings against pointless killings, aburaage was
substituted. This practice still continues in modern times. Even today, aburaage is presented as
an offering at Inari Shrine.

Chapter 6

You just want to fluff.

I'll defeat you Shiro!

Game showdown with Shiro!

Koenji’s Senko Fashion Show

Shiro came to the room again today and played a game match against Nakano. She was no
match for Nakano, but thanks to reading his mind using clairvoyance was able to win the
game.

The result was complete defeat.

Shiro, who had come to play was engrossed by video games. Between both Shiro and Nakano,
they bet the ohagi (rice balls) Senko had made on becoming the winner. However, Nakano for
some reason was unable to win against Shiro. One day, Senko visits Koenji's room. Koenji
looks at Senko's figure, and pulls out a maid dress from the closet.

Japanese Menu

Recipe

the appropriate amount.

(6) Wrap with the Red Bean Paste

(7) Place on the crushed rice, and wrap with the Red Bean Paste.

Page 15
Aaaa, Senko is already too cute!!

That sly Nakano!!

One Point

Moon Mofox and Super Mofumofu Brothers

When he started living alone, Nakano planned to enjoy life to the fullest every day. There are
many games other than Super Mofumofu Brothers that were played with Shiro. In particular,
when he was a student, Nakano spent most of his time sleeping and playing the previous Mofu
Brothers game.

Japanese Menu

Inari Sushi Bento

Senko went to visit Koenji to help clean up her room, and Koenji had the idea for her to wear a
maid outfit. Koenji couldn't contain her excitement for a maid with a foxes ears and tail.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

When When Koenji putting maid clothes on me was really embarrassing. But when I saw his
smile from the maid dress, it was all good.

Senko and the massage war!

Nakano and Shiro’s adventures after missing the last train.

I’ll step on you!

Senko's next healing is a massage! Nakano's expression is one of ecstasy, from her hands and
feet. As thanks, Nakano gives Senko a massage this time! Nakano had missed the last train,
when Shiro came. She says Senko is waiting in the room for him, and she will send him there
with the help of the powers of the gods.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

It's a story about the time he let out an involuntary noise during my massage. He must have
been pleased by my moderate wieght. It must have felt good right?

When Nakano was discouraged after missing the last train and being unable to go home, Shiro
appeared in front of him. Using the power of the gods, she sent him back home. Offering Ice
Cream and Corn Dogs, Nakano was taken home through the spirit realm.

One Point

It's a very convenient shortcut, but Shiro says she doesn't want to use it because it makes her
tired.

Tori separate the sanctuary where the gods reside from the everyday world where humans live.
It's also a sacred place that serves as the entrance to the world where Senko and her friends
live. Shiro was able to connect the Tori gates to create a shortcut for Nakano.

Page 18
Episode 8

I’ll make you forget it!

Spending the first summer with Senko!

An oceanside barbecue for four!

I’m sure it will be fun no matter what I do. Because I have this cute fox in a bathing suit beside
me.

Nakano came to the beach with Senko and Koenji at the suggestion of Shiro. Nakano is able to
settle down and unwind thanks to the calm of the ocean. The ocean also brings out Shiro's
enthusiasm. Let's all try to enjoy our summer vacation.

Nakano came out for summer vacation (even if it was only one day). Without hesitation Shiro
headed out to the ocean with the three of Nakano, Senko, and Koenji. Nakano smiled at
Shiro's enthusiasm for this plan. However, while enjoying beach volleyball and a barbecue, the
fun times slowly came to an end as he felt the loneliness of work would start soon.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

I was amazed by his seriousness, going to the beach but still thinking about work. You have to
take the occasional break and forget about work.

Page 19
Then, isn't that kind of thing okay right now?

One Point

While going to college, Koenji, known by the pen name Jasco was writing manga.

Koenji had impulse bought a number of recreational items such as a portable barbecue and
pool tubes as an escape from reality while writing her manuscript. In retrospect, the maid outfit
worn by Senko was also manga reference material. But, was it also an escape from reality?

While we have a portable barbecue, we don't have any food. Nakano went to a small beach
house nearby to look for anything that could be used. There, he met a women who gave off a

bewitching aura, who dished out a variety of ingredients. He tried to refrain from accepting it,
but the woman had already disappeared.

Ingredients consist of not only meat and vegetables, but also jumbo shrimp. Together with the

Episode 9

It's not embarrassing if you do it this way.

Let's cook together again okay?

Senko makes gratin, and Nakano’s haircut challenge.

Before going to work, Nakano was fascinated by Gratin he saw on the television. Seeing his
expression, Senko wanted to make it, even if she wasn't good at cooking western food, so she
went over to talk with Koenji. With Shiro helping as well, they started to make Gratin for the first
time.

It seemed like Nakano wanted to eat the Gratin he had seen on the television. That being the
case, Senko decided to make it, while learning the recipe from Koenji. She teamed up with
Shiro and started to make the Gratin. Nakano's hair has grown long, so Senko proposes to cut
his hair for him. Senko was eager with a magazine in one hand and it left in her hands, but… ?

Japanese Menu

Jasco Assisted Gratin

Gratin made using the exact recipe taught by Koenji. Nakano was extremely pleased with it.

Recipe

A fluffy gratin made by Senko for Nakano. If you make a lot of white sauce you can enjoy it's
thick texture. While the recipe Koenji taught was an orthodox one with macaroni, it's also good
when arranged with broccoli or salmon.

Ingredients (2 Servings)

Onion (1/2), Bacon (70g), Macaroni (120g), Pizza Cheese (50g), Milk (200ml), Flour (2 Tbsp),
Butter (20g), Salt and Pepper (1/2 Tsp)

(1) Boil the macaroni according to the instructions on the package.

(2) Slice the onion and bacon to your desired sizes.

(3) Add butter to a frying pan, add items from (2), as well as Salt and Pepper and stir fry.

(4) Turn off the burner when it becomes soft, add the flour, and mix.

(5) Slowly add the milk over low heat, add the ingredients from (1), and take everything out.

(6) Transfer to bakeware, add the pizza cheese on top, bake for seven minutes in the
microwave oven.

Page 21
I’m looking forward to things from here!

One Point

Shiro places a tremendous amount of trust in the power of sugar. It’s even indispensable for
cup noodles.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Even though Senko is perfect at making Japanese dishes, she's not still not good at western
ones. Even though she cooked Gratin while being taught the recipe, there was still some skill
involved. The Gratin was handled so exquisitely, that Koenij thought to herself "Am I even
needed…?"

Nakano didn't have time to go the hair salon, and so his hair had grown long. Senko asked if
she could cut his hair. Senko said she had been studying magazines, and to leave it to her as
she gave Nakano a haircut. If you think it ends there, it seems she was even able to wash his
hair…

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

Somehow it seems I was able to cut his hair by simply imitating others… I was able to
reconnect the parts I had cut off, and I was glad to return him to his normal refreshing hairstyle.

Page 22

It's okay to be childish sometimes.

You can’t go to work in this situation.

Snowball fight with Senko!

The third demigod, Sora’s appearance!?

Despite heavy snowfall, Nakano was still heading to work. Senko tried to stop him, but at that
moment he received an email telling him to standby at home. They have already gone outside
at this point, and so they start to play in the snow.

When Nakano started to head in to work, heavy snow had fallen and piled up on the ground
outside. Since he now had the day off from work, Senko challenges Nakano to a snowball
fight. One day, while enjoying the warm and fluffiness of being in the kotatsu, the third
demigod, Sora, appeared. She said she came to see Senko’s face.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

What, is he not satisfied with Shiro and I, he's also infatuated with Sora's fluffy tail. Sora really
is terrible…

Page 23

Taking care of him, with my fluffiness, I'm more than enough.

Japanese Menu

Nakano’s Punishment Meal

A meal prepared as punishment for Nakano, who had become infatuated with another fox
demigod.

While Nakano was fluffing Senko’s tail as usual, the a voluptuous demigod appeared beside
him. That woman, Sora, said that her and Senko's relationship was similar to that of superior
and subordinate. Apparently she came to see the faces of Senko and Nakano. But that wasn't
the end of it, Sora also came to warn Nakano that bad things may happen.

One Point

Senko hurriedly said "I'll take care of you to" to Sora.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Even before Sora, his love of fluff never wavered. Senko, Shiro, and Sora, their tails stole his
eyes at first glance, as even before he met Senko, Nakano had a love for fluff. Now, Senko's
tail has become an essential everyday necessity.

Page 24
Episode 11

It looks like tonight's going to be rough.

Don't worry about anything with me. Tell me about everything and it will get better.

Izakaya Senko, now open!

Nakano runs to his father, and then...

Plum wine and boiled fish made by Senko, the food and sake hit Nakano. Nakano, completely
wasted, involuntarily complains. Senko took care of him gently.

When Nakano returns home, there is a banner that for Senko's Izakaya. Nakano was thankful
for Senko's exquisitely planned evening of drinking, but gradually became drunk, and starts
complaining about things he normally doesn't talk about. Nakano promised that he would go
somewhere far away with Senko on his next holiday. However, he was informed that his father
ihad been taken to the hospital.

Page 25
Then, I’ll go with you as well.

If that was my ancestor…

Fortunately it wasn't anything big and my dad had just overexerted himself, I was relieved
knowing it wasn't something life threatening. At that time, Senko carried her left the room and
was carrying her luggage in the rain.

One Point

The pressed flower was very important to Senko, as it reminded her of Nakano.

Senko seems to have been watching over his family, ever since meeting one of Nakano's
ancestors hundreds of years ago. She has been been watching over Nakano from the shadows
ever since he was a young child, even helping him that one time he got lost in the woods. It
seems that Nakano is able to recall that memory.

Page 26
Episode 12

Still, he’s…

Senko!? You can’t be gone with things like this, it’s not over is it!?

Has Senko disappeared from Nakano’s house?

The outcome of a story that brings two people together.

Senko couldn't be reached by the phone. Nakano was worried and went returned to the room,
but Senko wasn't there. The smart phone left for her was left on top of the table, and even
Koenji didn't know where she had gone. In an attempt to find out Senko’s whereabouts,
Nakano starts running around the rainy town.

Unable to contact Senko, Nakano became worried and returned to his room. Then, when he
arrived there, Senko was nowhere to be found. Nakano was searching for Senko out in the rain,
but in his head he was worried that he would never be able to see her again. Meanwhile, Senko
has returned to the spirit realm to talk with Sora about everything that has happened in the last
year.

Senko’s Reflections (Diary)

So many different things happened during the past year... but, I'm happy the two of us have
been able to be together.

Page 27

Let me continue pampering him.

One Point

Behind Sora is the fox demigod Suzu. She is a fox initiate who has just obtained human form.

The demigods Senko, Shiro, and Sora have all appeared. Even though only fox-like characters
have appeared, and people tend to think that there's nothing else, other gods such as dogs
and lions also exist. Maybe Nakano will meet them someday?

Senko returned after obtaining the necessary things from the spirit realm. In front of Nakano,
relieved that his anxiety and worries are gone, Senko suggests that they open up her large box
of food and stop to watch the cherry blossoms.

One summer day, a fox demigod came from the spirit realm to take care of Nakano. She looks
like a cute little girl, but in reality she's an 800 year-old grandmother. She loves to take care of
people, and pampers Nakano every day. Shortly after she attained her human figure, she met
one of Nakano's ancestors, and has watched over his relatives for a long time.

Height : 125cm (135cm including ears)

Occupation? : Fox Demigod

A cute appearance along with a gentle expression and a grandmother-like level of care. She
also sometimes scolds Nakano when he works himself too hard.

living in the country was appointed as "Inari Shoujo", the one who protects the peace of all
mankind. However, the following day, her grandfather who worked as the shrine's chief priest

would fly out of Koganecho to solve problems all around the world, though in the final episode
the world fell into chaos as a comet was falling towards earth and threatened the destruction of
humanity. During that crisis, she transformed into Yokochan. She sets off for outer space to
square off against the comet. For a while, Yokochan, who had been thought to have
disappeared, returned back to earth safe and sound. The battle of Inari Shojo Yokochan isn’t
over yet.

STAFF & CAST INTERVIEW

“Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san”

Talk with Director Tomoaki Koshida and Series Producer and Screenplay Creator Yoshiko
Nakamura

Secret interview with the Tomoaki Koshida, director of the television anime “Sewayaki Kitsune
no Senko-san” as well as Nakamura Nakamura, the series producer and story script writer.
They share their thoughts on this work.

Please tell us about when the two of you read the original comics.

Koshida: Frankly, the I felt that the characters were really cute. At the same time, I thought
about how to put this type of healing into an animation.

Nakamura: When I received the animation plans, only the first volume of the original comic had
been published, but my first impression was that it was a gentle and kind story. The theme of
Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

healing the entire world was very interesting, and I thought about if it matched the modern
times.

The first volume was published in April 2018, exactly one year before the anime broadcast.

Nakamura: I was working on "Tada Never Falls in Love" (Broadcast April - June 2018) at
Dogakobo animation studio, and it was just being broadcast at that time. I remember starting
to read the book as soon as the broadcast of “Tada” had ended. Scenario work was done from
then until the beginning of the year in January of 2019. Because of that schedule, at the first
preparatory meeting we asked the original creator, Rimukoro, about his future plans for Senko.
Based on that, we thought about the work as a one-season television series.

Koshida: Because we had Rimukoro come to scenario briefings and post-recording sessions,
all of us, the original author, staff, and producers were able to come up with ideas while creating
the anime "Sewayaki Kitsune Senko-san.“

Nakamura: Rimukoro told us that he came up with "Senko" because of his own desire to be
pampered by a loli fox girl, however, in addition he also told us very interesting stories and
shared his knowledge that went into creating his work. He helped us in a number of ways, and
I'm really thankful for that.

Afterwards, what form did the series production team take on?

Nakamura: First, by around the 6th episode, we had a rough idea on a direction to bring
everything together in the final episode. At that time, there were only a small number of
episodes from the original work, but after reading the Hanami episode in the "Twelfth Tail"
chapter, I felt that story really showed the biggest change in Nakano and Senko's relationship.
So the director and I decided to turn that into the final episode. After figuring that out, I thought
about how we would build their relationship towards that point. After that, Rimukoro did his
best to draw the original works one after another, and so from the 7th episode onwards, it's a
form that brings them both together.

Koshida: First, we thought about having the two of them become aware of the different
seasons over the year. In the original work, seasons are written at random. But, I wanted to line
them up, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, and to have the final episode be cherry blossom
viewing. While the feeling of farewell from the original development flows feels like it's the right
path, when Senko returns to Nakano one feels relieved at the misunderstanding. For viewers of
"Senko-san", being made too aware of their separation can lead to shock, because it also
shakes apart the healing theme of the works.

Nakamura: I think that because the longevity of Senko, a fox demogod, is longer than
Nakano's, they'll likely have to say their farewells sometime, but in the reverse situation where
Nakano is the one leaving Senko. In the original work, there's a line saying "Me being here, I
think it's become part of everyday life," but he didn't realize the importance of their daily life
together. As for the depiction of Nakano's ancestors, in the final episode it was decided to be
both a parting and reunion, and so we tried to include scenes that weren't mentioned in the
original works.

Koshida: For episodes from the middle of the show and beyond, ideas were included both from
the original works, as well as new ideas developed together with Rimukoro. The story about
making gratin in Episode 9 being one example.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Nakamura: The part about "Inari Shoujo Yokochan" was also expanded upon. As an anime
writer, I thought it would be interesting to expand upon that area. So I made a proposal during
a meeting, and Rimukoro gave me a nod and decided to take it in that direction.

Senko's cooking was based on close-up's from the original works. Was what she made
decided from the planning stages?

Nakamura: That’s right. While writing, I thought about if it was the sort of thing I would like to
eat, or if it was the sort of menu Senko would make. But, Dogakobo's people drew realistic
pictures and the scenes became very delicious.

Koshida: The gratin drawing was particularly difficult. Because the colour usage leaned heavily
towards white, we tried hard to find the balance between realism and the ideal delicious look.
The special effects team added gradation and texture, and I think it looks extremely delicious
(laughs).

Page 55

The "Super Senko-san Time" corner after the ending is an original element in the anime. Where
did this idea come from?

Nakamura: The producers suggested that they wanted to do something interesting, and the
idea for this corner situation came from there. The corner name itself was set at the beginning
of the project. I wondered if using the western language in a Japanese style work was right,
because ever since the beginning the name felt a bit out of place. Then the director said "That
name is good isn't it?", and so the final title remained the same.

Koshida: For ”Super Senko-san Time”, the long duration was challenging. As each cut is long,
if you find even a single mistake you will have to redo the entire recording. Episode 7 in
particular had a large number of frames, 698. And because rendering took around 6 hours or
so, I felt a lot of pressure. Also, it was interesting that every time her appearance stops being
shown, the all of the viewers word respond that they were “ejected". That way of feeling was
fresh (laughs)

Nakamura: In the television broadcast, it (Super Senko-san Time) ended with Episode 11's
"Super Yozora Time", but I was worried that even though it's the final one, that it wasn't with
Senko and so I consulted with the director. He said "It's fine as it is", and so in the end it was
"Super Yozora Time."

The story of "Senko" is fundamentally a story that progresses centred around Nakano's room,
but were there any difficulties with directing it?

Koshida: I struggled with how to avoid losing interest on the scenes. While the number of
similar shots was inevitably increasing, I was thinking about being able to express that without
a lot of feeling, while I was working. The plan was to deliver real healing to the viewers, without
expressing it through speech bubbles or comic markings. In that way, I felt that the theme
became blurred when the screen was noisy, and so that was something we were the most
conscious of. For example, we don't change cameras right away. Nevertheless, the last
episode may have had an absurd proportion of scenes, but I was happy, because the key
animators all raised their hands wanting to do this. The daily-life acting was hard to convey, so
it was quite difficult. (laughs)

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Nakamura: The director puts a great deal of attention on the fluffy feeling of the tail, saying
"here, please wait for the fluff" in the scenario meeting. (laughs) Later, we talked about what we
should do for the places outside of Nakano's room, the company and night views. Rimukoro
also said that there was no model for this, so we consulted with the director.

In what direction did the director take the opening and ending animations?

Koshida: Naoya Takashi was in charge of the opening, and Kamitsubo Ryoki the ending, both
of whom are veteran directors so we left it almost entirely up to them. When I first got to listen
to the tune, I felt it was a very cute song. For the ending caricature, the result was very healing,
and so I feel that leaving it to Kamitsubo was the right choice. In the first shot of the opening,
the rice cooker... that's a bad pun from Senko's "nojya" inflection and the word for rice cooker
(laughs), it was Naoya's idea.

Nakamura, you're in charge of the script for all of the episodes, but please tell us which
scenarios you were particularly conscious of.

Nakamura: Basically, ensuring we didn't disturb the gentle world view of the original works was
top priority. But, Senko's way of talking was difficult, and it was hard to get a grasp on the
character at the beginning. My unaffectionate side came out in the dialogue (laughs), I had
Rimukoro's help to retouch it, and Senko's healing was completed. Working on the entire
story's script, the upside is that you can go in and correct it later by yourself, without having
other writers waiting on your schedule. And because the series composition and complete
script can take a unified view of the world, I think it means that things won't get blurred.
Though, I think there is one downside, being that only a single tone is reflected in the work.

Page 56

STAFF & CAST INTERVIEW

Koshida: Since there was no blurring of the world view in “Senko-san”, I think it was a plus for
Yoshiko (Nakamura), who was in charge of the entire story.

Nakamura: Thank you (laughs). Speaking of what I was conscious about, the consensus among
the staff was that "Senko-san" was a work of healing, and we didn't have to pursue eroticism.
So I consciously wrote scenarios without that atmosphere, that drew attention to the healing
instead. But in an anime where colourful characters move, the amount of information seen
differs with the work, and so the bath scene in the fifth episode was said to be a little bit sexy
from the surroundings.

Please tell us about how the cast members of this work were decided.

Koshida: Senko is 800 years old, but looks like a young girl, so I first had to decide which one
to put first. A grandmother-like young voice, or a youthful grandmother's voice. In the end, it
took the shape of adding motherhood to Waki Azumi's cute voice. So every time we recorded,
even though I thought about saying nothing to the young Waki, her performance was young
and so I often directed her to put just a little more motherhood into it. Nakano was different
than that of Maki, I asked them to try with a natural and attractive voice, and Suwabe Junichi
was pleasant to listen to.

Nakamura: For Koenji, Rimukoro's impression was that Sakura Ayane was perfectly suited.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Koshida: Shiro's Uchida Maaya was excellent as the spoiled childish character, I think she was
good for the role of Shiro.

Nakamura: Yozora is a character who didn't appear much in the original works, and had a
unique way of talking, which I think was troublesome for Kitamura Eri. But she played it very
gently and sexy.

For both of you, when were you able to see the audiences reaction?

Koshida: The video mastering and broadcast took place on the same day, so I was watching
twitter comments alongside the producers. We were pleasantly surprised by the responses we
had received up until then.

Nakamura: I didn't look into it much on my own, but I was happy when a friend who had been
watching told me it was “cute".

The main theme of this work is healing, so please tell us about your healing moments.

Koshida: Reading manga or watching YouTube before bed is my “miracle time.” (laughs) When
I end up unintentionally staying up late into the night, doing whatever your favourite thing is at
that time becomes incredibly relaxing. Later, when the production period was busy, after I
finished I was able to settle down by watching "Senko-san". Now you can be truly healed by
Senko-san here as well (laughs).

Nakamura: That's my cat. It's an old grandpa cat who's becoming grumpier recently, but I fluff
him all the same every day.

If Senko, Shiro, or Yozora appeared in front of you, which one would you ask for?

Nakamura: Senko would be nice. When I return home, tired after a meeting to be welcomed
home with "Welcome back, nanojya!", and I'd like to ask for cooking and cleaning as well. If
Shiro showed up, it would be like I've gained another selfish cat. (laughs)

Koshida: If Senko was here, I'd want her to cook dinner... But, I would also like for Yozora to
show up. There's a bit of a lustful desire there... (laughs)

The original comic still continues, so if there is a second season for the anime, what type of
episode would you want to make?

Koshida: In the final episode I managed to squeeze in a single shot of Suzu, a fox goddess who
comes out in the next episode of the original works. That's a symbol of everyone's hope for a
second season. Other than that, there are many other characters in the original works that I
want to gradually bring out.

Nakamura: I deeply want to write about Shiro and Koenji's relationship, but also the way in
which Senko and Nakano become closer as well. I think if you've been reading the original
works, you'll understand, but the mystery still remains for those who only watch the anime, and
they probably think the story might not be over. So, I want to move that mystery forward a little
bit.

Koshida: If there's a second season, will I have to power up "Super Senko-san" time? (laughs)
It seems like when it was removed, the overall atmosphere became upset.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Nakamura: When I was writing there wasn't a correct answer, because that part wasn't in the
original works. So the tehme was decided in a meeting, but now it seems like a bad storm will
be coming. (laughs nervously) But, I want to do my best. (laughs)

To finish things off, please give us a message to share with the fans of “Senko-san”.

Koshida: Even though the anime has ended, I think that this is a work that can heal you no
matter how many times you watch it. So when you're tired, or have had a hard time, I'll be
happy if things get better and you feel more energetic. I think it would be delightful if there is a
second season.

Nakamura: Thank you for supporting "Senko-san". The response from the viewrs has been
outstanding, I'm really glad. All of the staff working on "Senko-san", including myself who
wrote the scenario, are healed. I think that it became something you can enjoy no matter how
many times you watch it. If hope you will continue to support us!

Interview with character designer Ooshima Miwa

Senko’s main charm is her fluff. We asked character designer Ooshima Miwa how she
managed to draw that fluffiness in a way that can be transmitted through the screen.

What impressions did you receive when you read the original comic?

I think that my first impression was that of a helper who healed those who have become
exhausted from their work, furthermore, she had fluff, and Senko was cute. As for myself, I love
fluffy animals like foxes, dogs, and cats, and so I was happy to be approached for the work of
"Senko-san".

I think for the work of "Senko-san", I think it's an essential factor to exude a fluffy feeling, but
how was that reflected in your drawings?

At first, I started by thinking a little bit simple, and I wanted to make the tail not too large. But,
the people who had been put in charge of the drawings had researched and drawn, so
compared to their work, my reference images felt less fluffy. Looking at these images, I realized
that everyone wanted to draw it in this manner, and so as the number of times I drew it went
up, so did the volume of fluff. (laughs)

Other than the fluffy feeling, what other things were you made aware of?

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

I think the focal point of this work is Nakano being healed by Senko. Because of that, I was
conscious about Senko's expression when she greeted him when he returned home. For
example, when you have a pet and are greeted by it, you get a happy and pleasant feeling.

At the you were brought onboard for "Senko-san", only the first volume of the original manga
had been released.

That's correct. In the original work, fine details and patterns were in the early stages, and are
often changing, so there were many meetings to prioritize which one to focus on, so I think
"Senko-san" was easy to work on in that regard. Also, being a Manga, we're happy that it had
more design details than a novel would. However, at the time of the first volume, Yozora had
yet to appear, and Shiro and Koenji had only rarely shown up. So, for those characters, I
discussed with Rimukoro and the director to decide on their designs. At the onset of the first
volume, we had an introduction where we could ask Rimukoro as many questions as we
wanted to. I was informed about how the future development would unfold, and the
relationship between Senko and Nakano. That was one of the main reasons we were able to
design things smoothly.

Please share the important design elements of the popular characters.

First of all, we wanted Senko to give off a gentle atmosphere. However, the mother-like
characteristic was expanded by the production side, and so the grandmother-like feeling was
suppressed, in the end, it was a cute design direction. This can also be said about all of the fox
goddesses, I didn't bring out much animal-ness in them, and drew them as girls. Shiro has a
large range of facial expressions, and gives off the impression of a spoiled child, so she was
very easy to draw. I think Senko has a little bit of control over her emotions, but Shiro is child
who speaks her mind, and so it was easy to expand upon her design. Yozora has a voluptuous
atmosphere about her, though I was worried that she had a fairly short stature. Compared to
Senko and Shiro, her status is that like an older sister, however I wondered if her atmosphere
like that of attaining enlightenment was closer than her voluptuousness. However, if that was
emphasized too much, the work "Senko-san"'s healing theme, seems like it would waver. So I
tried to balance things by not overdoing it. It was quite difficult to draw because of the 4 tails.
(laughs sarcastically)

How about for human designs such as Nakano and Koenji?

At first, I wasn't sure what to draw for Nakano's design. At first glance, he looks to be quite
mature because of his height, but really he's only around 25 years old. While he's young, he
looks older from exhaustion, but maintaining a balance of a cute boy from Senko's point of
view was difficult. So, finally while talking with the director, I asked for his opinion. I thought
that Koenji had a similar personality to Shiro, and because she's like a child who speaks
whatever is on her mind there was no difficulty. However, the first time when I was drawing her
design, it was a slender figure I thought of... I forgot about Koenji's large breasts. After that,
Rimukoro commented "Please make her chest a little bigger", and I updated it. I was really
sorry for not thinking about that part!

Treasured photos of Senko's maid form

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

A picture of Senko wearing a maid outfit, taken by Koenji on her smartphone. Used as the
photo album shown on her smartphone in the original story. In addition to Koenji's smartphone
having cracks on the screen, because it's been processed into a square icon shape, this book
is the first appearance of these pictures of Senko in a maid outfit.

What episode of "Senko-san" was the most impressive for you during the production?

That would be the design of "Inari Shoujo Yoko-chan”. In the anime, it's drawn as a "show
within a show", but at the start of anime production, Yoko-chan had only appeared in a single
shot in the first volume of the original works. As we were able to expand upon it, we designed
Don Tanuki, who wasn't even in the original works. We were informed by Rimukoro and the
series producer Nakamura (Yoshiko) that because they wanted Yoko-chan to develop in the
series, they wanted us to design her battle scene face. I never would have imagined that Don
Tanuki would appear in the opening. (laughs) Nagata (Kyoko), the prop designer also got to
work on the design for Rim and Maki, who appear as game characters. I think that part of the
charm of this work, is being able to play with that sort of blank canvas.

What was the hardest shot on screen?

There was one thing that was really difficult, and that was the scene in episode 6 where Senko
puts on a maid outfit and Koenji starts taking pictures. During a meeting, the drawing
broadcast I heard wasn't too much, but the number suddenly increased. If you're wondering
what that number is, the screen on Koenji's smartphone shows the number of photos of
Senko, and dozens of new ones needed to be drawn. (laughs painfully) When I was thinking I
could use an existing shot, it turned out to be something new, and when I thought it was
something I could make to use again later, it was a luxurious creation only used once.

Did the long length of "Super Senko-san Time" also make it difficult?

In a normal anime, one shot is only around a few seconds, but for "Senko Time", one shot is
around 40 - 50 seconds. So, when the original picture came to me for review, it became quite
difficult because of the large volume. I think that it was likely difficult both emotionally and
physically for the people who drawing it, as it seemed like it would never end. Though, I heard
the response from the audience was good, so I think that it was probably worthwhile. In
Volume 3 of the Blu-ray & DVD, the final recording of the "Super Senko-san Time" corner is
recorded, with the four of Senko, Shiro, Yozora, and Koenji in various situations.

While drawing the work of "Senko-san", where did you pay special attention to?

While I was designing the character, I was reading the original comic, and there was something
I noticed. I think it was probably a habit of Rimukoro's, but the highlight of Senko's eyes
always came from the left side. So, when the director revised the work, all eyes were treated to
have the light enter from the left side. Then, the other director also seemed to notice it, and
adapted to it as well. Also, how they open their mouths. Other than Nakano, the main
characters of "Senko-san" are fairly short, and don't look super adult-like, so I was careful not
to make them too childish. In particular, Shiro doesn't open her mouth wide and laugh, instead,
she seems to hold a little dignity from being a fox demigod. But, Nakano doesn't have anything
like that, so I drew it freely without worry.

Page 59
The theme of this work is healing, so what type of situations heal you?

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

From before I joined "Senko-san", I found it healing to look at pictures of animals while
working. I really like fluffy animals, and especially during the time I was working on "Senko-
san", I told myself "this is a reference for my work" while looking endlessly at pictures of foxes.
My excuses included wondering about how the nuance of the tail should be. Even now, it's not
limited to just cats and dogs, I like all sorts of animals, and that look for that to heal my heart
when it gets tired.

If Senko, Shiro, or Yozora appeared in front of you, which one would you ask for?

Senko would be number one as expected. She can take care of housework, and even more her
fluff is irresistible. I think Shiro is cute as well, but because of my relation with work, we
wouldn't have much time together and I wouldn't want her to be lonely. With that point in mind,
if Senko can clean, do the laundry, and cook while Nakano is at work, then I think she would fit
my own lifestyle.

The broadcast of "Senko-san" has ended for the time being, but what was the atmosphere in
the production office like?

All of the staff helped until the last very minute, I don't think there's a place with a higher sense
of unity. Maybe in reality they were desperately in search of healing. (laughs) Moreover, I really
thought everyone wanted to draw the tail, and fluff like winter plumage. Maybe, because the
entirety of the staff really likes "Senko-san", even if there are a lot of shots, even if it's "Super
Senko-san Time," or "Inari Shoujo Yoko-chan," or game characters, they'll raise their hand to
say "I want to do this shot!" Because of that, I think it was a very blessed place.

Lastly, please share a message with the anime viewers and fans of the original works.

All of the staff on "Senko-san" were happy to work on it, and I think that fun also appears on
screen. Because that place was a lot of fun, I will be glad if I have the opportunity to draw
Senko again. The original comic is still ongoing, and in the anime, the relationship of Nakano
and Senko is a strong image that we only just began, so I absolutely want it to continue. If
there's a second season, I want them to visit the Zao Fox Village and have fluffy winter foxes.
(laughs) I think that in modern society, no matter how much fun you have, there will always be
things that make you tired. At that time, when you return home tired, I want you to look back at
"Senko-san" and feel healed.

STAFF & CAST INTERVIEW

“Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san”

Interview with Senko’s voice actor, Miwa Azumi

Her appearance may be that of a little girl, but inside she's an 800 year-old fox demigod. We
interview Miwa Azumi, who played the role of Senko. Loaded with stories that can only be
heard here, including thoughts about her work.

First, please share with us your number one impression of Senko.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

During the audition I was shown the character design, and Senko's small stature and fox ears
were super cute. I strongly wanted to play this role with my favourite moe elements.

In what ways was the audition challenging?

There were two auditions. For the first audition, I performed based upon my own image
expanded upon from the original design, I recorded the voice data, and sent it over. The next
audition took place at the studio, and I gave my performance of Senko while I received
direction from both the director and sound director. At that time, I realized that my impression
of Senko was a little bit off. Because at the beginning, I based my performance too much on
her young appearance. So, not only was the voice young, but I changed it up so that the
character was full of motherhood.

How did you feel when you received the notification that you were selected for the role of
Senko?

First and foremost, I felt happy. But because there were change to the acting plan, there was a
lot of pressure to meet expectations. Until then I had played older sister roles, but they weren't
roles that bundled someone up like Senko, so it was very difficult to show the motherly side.
Even in the dubbing, I struggled with showing the motherly side until the very end

Were there any difficult aspects with the acting side of things?

Senko's unique way of talking was difficult. There were many difficult expressions, that you
couldn't even look them up in an accent dictionary, so whenever we went for a sound test, the
sound director would correct them. But, I also had my own intonation, and sometimes it would
be confusing when it got mixed in with the correct one. Even so, as we recorded up until the
12th episode, I think I gradually got accustomed to it. There was a line "Uyan" from the
audition, and I didn't know the correct answer, so I looked for the answer within myself. In the
end, Rimukoro answered that it was correct, and I was glad. (laughs)

What was the atmosphere at the recording studio like?

It was a small group, and because it was a place where I was surrounded by my seniors, the
recording progressed smoothly,. Yet regardless of that, I was nervous. Junichi Suwabe, who
plays Nakano was a busy person, and so I wasn't able to see him much at the office, and I
remember being very nervous at first, because I didn't think I would ever be able to work
alongside that kind of senior. Others in the cast have had the opportunity to co-star together
several times, but it was my first time to be as a main. So I was really happy to be standing in
front of the same microphone that others had been at before I became a voice actor.

Since the role is one where you take care of and wrap up Suwabe, who plays Nakano, there
must be a fair bit of pressure right?

That's right. (laughs) I think Suwabe has a strong image of being able to play the role of being
spoiled and wrapped up, but I never thought I would be the one doing the wrapping. However,
Suwabe had been taking part of a live radio broadcast right up until midnight on the day of
recording, and so every week at the studio, he would seem very tired. The sound recording
director even said "the acting seems like it would heal Suwabe", and so acting with that image
was easy. (laughs)

Waki, what episode left the biggest impression on you?

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

I was deeply impressed by the performance in Episode 5's bathing scene. Bathing scenes in
other anime are fan service, but with "Senko-san", the direction was not to exude sexiness. It
was difficult because until then I had never done a bathing scene without sexiness. But, rather
than boys and girls washing each other together in the bath, the sound director instructed me
that it was more like an image of a grandmother bathing her grandson's back. So I acted using
that important sense of distance. I'm especially conscious of that appropriate sense of
distance in the sleeping together scene in Episode 3. What impressed me purely as a viewer
was the time in Episode 7 when Shiro goes to meet Nakano, who had missed the last train. We
learn that Senko and Nakano's ancestors may have overlapped, and so it really hit me in my
chest when that was said. Passing through the space between Torii gates, she asks "Do you
know why Sen, a fox demigod is here specifically for you?" It's charming to think that Shiro is
worried because Senko is loved by everyone. Even more, I love hearing the cuteness when
Senko isn't there.

Page 61

In this work, you sang the opening "Koyoi mofumofu!" and the ending "Moffumofu DE Yoi no
Ja yo" in the role of Senko.

Until now, I've been able to sing in theme songs as my characters on some projects, but this
was the first time for me to sing an ending all by myself and I was extremely happy. The
opening theme song was a song with high tension, but it was difficult to raise the tension with
the little girl's voice of Senko. I struggled with bringing out a lively grandmother-like feeling. I
was surprised that there was Senko's Japanese style rapping portion in the ending theme
song. When I was practicing at home with the sound source, I sang it thinking it was a healing
song with a fluffy feeling to it, but when I recorded it, I was told that "it might be a little too
energetic." (laughs jokingly) But I did my best to to put Senko into the song.

Please tell us your impression when you actually got to see the video.

The first time I saw the video was at the pre-screening event, and Senko was super cute! In the
opening, the characters are all introduced in a lively way, and Senko's sleepy face in the ending
is adorable… It was really energizing to hear directly from the guests at the pre-screening, and
even while the show was broadcasting, I was really thankful to see many people tweeting
about "Senko-san" every week. I was also really happy to hear from other staff and friends that
they had "been watching 'Senko-san.'"

Waki, you were a personality on the radio show "Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san ~ Senko and
Nakano's mofumofu hour~", so tell us how that recording went.

Generally speaking, I was nervous. When I heard, I was really glad that I was able do the radio
show together with Suwabe. Moreover, even if I stumbled or made a mistake, I was grateful for
Suwabe for pulling me back up. Radio, dubbing, and events were all places I could experience
Suwabe's greatness. (laughs)

A binaural CD was included in the special edition of the original comic's 5th volume, but I
believe that used a different recording method than normal dubbing.

Originally I was talking with Suwabe about how I wanted to do a binaural "Senko-san" CD. So I
was really happy to get a call about it. I've recorded with a dummy head microphone only once
before, and that time was only for around 3 minutes. This time, it was more than 20 minutes,
and recording various situations. So it was a new experience of moving around in front of the
mic while recording. With a normal dubbing session, you can adjust or lower the volume later.
Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

But, recording with a dummy head microphone you get a sense of distance, so that can be
difficult. Especially during the ear cleaning situation, we had to think how to record, and I was
surprised to remove dummy head microphone and place it on top of my lap. (laughs) The final
effect, I remember listening to it and hearing the words "I'm near!" come out, and the work felt
enjoyable with Senko right there.

The theme of this work is healing, so what type of situations heal you?

When I started living alone, I realized that my pet became a form of healing. When I was living
at home with my parents, I thought it was really cute, but things changed when I lived at home.
My parents house also has a dog, so once a week I return home to be healed. I really want to
own a pet of my own, but thinking about how hard it is to take care of a pet, my hands are tied.
(laughs jokingly)

If Senko, Shiro, or Yozora appeared in front of you, which one would you ask for?

I want to be spoiled and cooked for by Senko. Because I don't cook, I usually go out to eat,
and I so I don't eat much Japanese food. So I want Senko to make Nikujaga and Japanese
dishes. After becoming involved with "Senko-san", I also started to eat inari suchi often, and so
I want to try having Senko make it for me as well.

Lastly, please share a message with the fans.

Thank you for picking up this book! While the "Senko-san" anime has ended, you can rewatch
it over and over, and read the original comics as well. I hope that everyone can be healed by
Senko. The original work is still in serialization, and so I would be extremely happy if there's a
second season. Thank you for your continued support of “Senko-san"!

STAFF & CAST INTERVIEW

“Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san”

Interview with Nakano’s voice actor, Suwabe Junichi

An office worker who is tired everyday, working at a black company. We interview Suwabe
Junichi, who played the role of Nakano. We asked his thoughts on the work of "Senko-san".

What was your impression with being a part of this work?

When I first read the original comic, I thought it was a dream-like story of healing the tired
people of modern society. The character named Senko was incredibly cute, and felt she would
be even more attractive if she was made into an anime and had movement and sound.
Although the main part of the anime is more than enough to heal you, enjoying "Super Senko-
san Time" in first person view is a powerful addition. I feel there's a high demand from this part
alone, and I personally feel a business opportunity there. (laughs)

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

The role of Nakano, who works for a black company, is strangely matching your own status as
an industry leading hard worker. Is there anything specific you're conscious of while you
perform the same "working man" as Nakano?

That's right... I think that I'm a person who has accumulated top class hard work experience in
the business world, so I can express the real mentality and fatigue of the character Nakano. I'm
post-salaryman. (laughs) I was relieved that when the promotional video was first released,
there was the impression that it fit well. In a comical scene, there should be some deformation,
but other than that part, the sense of emotions, especially the natural feeling of a heartfelt
monologue, must be through using the right words. Nakano is the type not to say "NO", he
carries the burdens around him on his back, and from the perspective from those around him,
it's easy to ask for him to do something, and he he will do it right away. In short, he's a "good
person". I think that humanity of his is one of the reasons Senko came to heal him.

What kind of things do you find alluring about Senko?

I think her alluring side is not only the cuteness of her appearance, but also her calmness and
open mind that comes from being 800 years old. Waki Azuki, who plays Senko was ordered
from the sound director not to become a cute young girl, ordering "800 years old! Motherly!"
That seemed to be difficult, but when watching it on air, it was a very good match.

Please tell us what feelings you have from the deep impression of Nakano and Senko's
relationships.

I think feelings of both "I'll take care of you!" and "Don't worry about it, it's alright" are ahead of
Nakano, but Senko will spoil him by wrapping him up from above. So to speak, it is bestowing
the ultimate "forgiveness." Actually, more than just doing housework and taking care of things
around him, I think the point is that she acknowledges Nakano's hard work.

I see. I'm convinced by that watching the anime, I could feel the warmth of her close embrace.

It's a work that will permeate deep into the hearts of many people, regardless of gender. I think
it's also suitable for the modern person who is consumed by their desire for approval. (laughs)
However, it might be shocking to accept everything up until this point. What would happen to
Nakano if one day Senko really wasn't there anymore? The thought of "don't take this everyday
life for granted" exists inside of him, and I think it's good to always have that kind of feeling.

Page 63

On the other hand, Shiro has a different charm than Senko.

Compared to the grandmother-like Senko, through her innocence, she's to put it in a better
way, a "little devil" character, but has a cute feeling. Recommended for those who can take
care of their own hearts.

By the way, what things in your daily life do you find healing?

The most refreshing thing is when I'm taking my beloved dog for its daily walk. During that
time, I go offline and organize my thoughts.

On the reverse, what things do you want to heal?

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Everyone who looks forward to and enjoys the works and events I'm involved with. When I
receive letters saying "I was healed" or "I was motivated to do my best every day", that also
heals me. Through this work, I hope a cycle of good feelings is born. (Republished from the
interview published in the June 2019 issue of “NewType")

■ After the broadcast had ended, we asked Suwabe to answer the question again.

Share with us the number of stories, episodes, and lines in the anime that left an impression on
you.

Naturally, it's difficult to pick just one. I think that the strong point of this work "healing",
worked well every time. A feeling of "warmth" could be felt through the entire work. Personally,
I was very comforted by that.

A variety of different dishes appeared in the anime, but was there anything you yourself wanted
to eat or drink?

I was inspired during the recording process, and actually often ate inari sushi. Especially
wasabi inari. During the dubbing, and radio programs, it was almost like I was eating. During
daily life, I remember being healed through eating and drinking... taking a break drinking
alcohol at home. Things like that.

Please share with us the the impressions you had in the dubbing, event, and radio process.

The unexpected thing happened, where every week, one by one the main cast would be
absent due to poor health. I was really glad we were able to broadcast every episode without
delay. And every time, the staff's consumption power of delicious refreshments was there.

Please share a message with the fans of “Senko-san”.

If nothing else, thank you for watching. I feel like by being involved with this work, I was being
healed every week through Nakano. Certainly, the day will come again when you will see and
hear from us again. Along with the original works, thank you for your continued support.

「Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san」

Interview with the original author, Rimukoro

"I want to be taken care of by a loli fox girl!” From that thought of Rimukoro’s, “Sewayaki
Kitsune no Senko-san” was born. We hear about stories that only the creator knows, from the
secret birth story, to the backside of manga writing, adaption into anime episodes, and more.

First off, please share with us the sequence of events that led to the serialization of the work
"Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san”.

When I was feeling down because I couldn't draw anything for the serialized storyboard, the
thought about wanting to be pampered by a loli fox girl came to mind, and I thought this
subject would become my own healing. When I sent that storyboard over to the manager, it
was accepted. I always enjoyed the existence of "Nojya Lolis" (Editors Note: While their
appearance is that of a child, "~nanojya" is added to the end of their sentences, and the girl
has a grandmotherly connotation), Nojya Loli's started appearing in Manga Doujinshi and
Magazines, and I also often drew manga based on Nojya Lolis. In that sense, I think that
"Senko-san" is a work that came directly from my own feelings.

At that stage of the storyboard, other than for Senko, had you already figured the settings out
for Nakano and the others?

That's right. Senko, Nakano, and Koenji were all set up from the very beginning. From Shiro
onwards, there wasn't a design, but I thought about wanting to bring out such a child. Up until
the 5th volume, there weren't any additional characters that we hadn't already thought of
before being serialized.

What idea was each character born from?

Senko, was shaped from the feeling of something I really wanted, the sense of "I want to be
taken care of by a Nojya Loli Fox Girl!"

Nakano's existence is to be pampered by Senko, he was thought up from my ideal image of a

worn out and exhausted uncle. He's a sort of amalgamation of the stories we hear from
workers of black companies, of which everyone is sympathetic of.

Koenji was decided as the high tension otaku next door neighbour from the very beginning.
She's a character who seems to be worth taking care of as well, and although she's not a
female version of Nakano, I put in a few elements that are similar to my own. Such as the fact
that she's a manga artist with an otaku mentality.

Shiro is a character I drew, of who I imagine I would be happy to be spoiled by. Playing games
with Shiro, I really thought I wanted a daily life like that while I was drawing. (laughs)

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Sora was originally thought of as a character to contrast Senko, but I thought it would be nice
to have her be like a nosy and questioning sister, and so I drew that. So in that sense, all of the
characters are shaped by the desires they're packed full of.

Had you also thought about Hachioji, Nakano's close friend who appears starting in the thirty-
first tail from the very beginning?

Originally I planned to have a friend like that as a character. But, I thought I shouldn't bring a
male character with a world view like that without permission. So when I asked the person in
charge "How about this?", they approved, saying "That's good!", and so Hachioji came to
appear. Who knows, maybe additional characters will come out in the future. (laughs)

With the appearances of Hachioji and Suzu, I get the impression that the world of "Senko-san"
will spread more and more. Was that expanding worldview something you had always
considered?

The work "Senko-san" has "healing" as the main theme, and I'm always choosing the right
timing to expand the world. The time when they go to the supermarket in the Fourth Tail is one
of them. Hachioji was brought about from my desire to talk about Nakano's own personal
story, so the thinking in that situation paralleled that.

The charm of "Senko-san" is naturally the "healing", but for the story, what sort of situation
would you be able to think you can heal?

Ahh, well this time I'm thinking about what kind of pattern will be used to heal Nakano. Even
when Koenji and the others are the main character instead of Nakano, I first try to think of what
kind of healing situation I can draw with that character. I drew this in the postscript of the
second volume, but the bath time in the ninth tail is just like that as well. So when the plot
overlaps there, I told the person in charge "Next time I think we should take a bath", and he
said "Wait, next time is the ninth tail right? That's a bit of a special number for Senko." "Now,
let's take a bath to commemorate!", from that background, I think you can tell what situation
lies ahead. (sarcastic laugh)

Page 81

Of the plot, storyboarding, and drawing process, which is the most difficult?

That would be the storyboard. It can be very easy to put out a theme, but if you think hard
about taking your heart to the situation in which you can be healed the most, you might drag
yourself along as well into the pain. (laughs) However, if you chase after painful situations like
Nakano's, conversely healing situations will come to mind. Maybe if you're working on diffiult
and tiresome storyboard you'll have a black haze come out like Nakano. But, it's fun once it's
finished. Beside us, a variety show is broadcast and I think "its okay, because I'm not doing
anything more difficult than these people", while drawing. (laughs)

Please tell us your impression you had when you heard that "Senko-san" was being made into
an anime.

Frankly, I thought "are you crazy!?” I think that often, writers who have their work turned into an
anime often would comment "I thought it was a joke until the very end.", and I really felt like
that. Actually, at first I was skeptical and asked "Its not 30 minutes is it?" and "How many years
later is it?" A manga entirely of my tastes, turned into an anime broadcast over the air. I was full
of feelings.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

For that half-skeptical Rimukoro, when did the real feeling of becoming an anime come?

When the PV was released. I was able to feel like it was real, with the voice attached. Up until
then, the character specifics documents had arrived, I had taken place in meetings, but I really
wasn't sure if it would work yet, feeling like it was in an empty state. Until I watched the PV, I
really didn't perceive it as reality at all.

What was your impression when you heard of the staff and studio?

When the series first got serialized, I was talking to a friend about how "I really want Dogokobo
to turn it into an anime!". Originally, I really enjoyed Dogakobo's works such as "Engaged to
the Unidentified" and "GJ Club", because they had a sense of security for everyday-style
works, if "Senko-san" was to become an anime, I wanted Dogakobo to be the ones making it.

And then, an offer for animation at Dogakobo really arrived. In fact, I was worried because the
serialization had just begun, but if Dgoakobo was making the anime, absolutely! and I okayed
it. I was so happy about that.

Character Setting / Design Document

A number of setting and character design documents created by Rimukoro. Here we will
release the designs of the famous characters.

Hair ornament

Likes housework.

Wife and mother-like grandma.

Fluffy feeling by hand.

Oh?

Tail hole.

This is Senko's early design proposal. It gives a slightly younger impression than the current
one. Its long hair and shrine maiden clothes give it a fresh feeling.

Page 82

When making the anime, did you have any requests for them from the original?

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

I want you to take good care of the fluffy feeling of the tail. That's it. I left everything entirely
else up to the anime staff. I attended all of the scenario meetings and post-recording sessions,
but all I did there was answer questions from the staff, supervising Senko's words like
“Nanojya".

Did you have any assumptions originally about casting?

There were characters I had originally thought about. But Senko had a wide range to herself. A
nojya loli attributes, a little girl, while also like a grandmother, and so I was worried very about
the auditions. During post recording sessions, Waki Azumi often said that to talk with "more
motherhood" was troublesome. I really think it was difficult to perform in Senko's role.

By the way, who were your assumptions for the cast?

Sakura Ayane, who plays Koenji. During small talk, the topic of things like "who would be good
for the role of Koenji" were talked about by the staff. Then, "Sakura Ayane is good right?" was
said casually, and it was really decided then. Sakura came to the audition specifically for the
role of Senko, but if she also played the role of Koenji, it would match her image perfectly. I
was surprised by her determination.

How did you feel up until it aired?

I was so anxious, and it couldn't be helped because I didn't know if everyone would enjoy it or
not. But, I felt myself relieved after it was broadcast and everyone enjoyed it. In addition,
because you can be healed by the work of "Senko-san", in a hands off way, it's like a form of
institutionalized healing. (laughs) The manga itself is drawn assuming it by doing so, you'll be
healed, and so I'm really happy that it's become much easier to absorb in anime form.

Regarding the original anime elements, since they were completely out of Rimukoro's hands, it
would be easier to take in right?

Of course, I attended the meetings and took part in consultation for "Inari Shoujo Yoko-chan"
and "Super Senko-san Time" I knew the contents of them. However, both of which were
massive undertakings by the anime staff, and so I enjoyed it purely as a member of the
audience. But, I really wanted "Super Senko-san Time" to run... I couldn't believe it until it was
broadcast. I think it must have been very difficult for the scriptwriter Yoshiko Nakamura. (laughs
sarcastically)

Please tell us about your impression upon hearing the theme song.

I actually heard the ending song first, and I felt that it was a song that carefully captured what
the most important parts of the work, the healing and fluffiness. The opening theme song is a
sort of theme created to help tired company workers get better, and I think it's perfect for the
"Senko-san" works. I was continuously humming it for a while after the demo came out.
(laughs)

What episode of the anime had the longest lasting impression on you?

When they went shopping in Episode 3. That episode is also my favourite in the original works,
but when I watch it in the anime, it's very understand that to see the distance between Senko
and Nakano gradually shrinking. The drawing of the sunset scene was extremely beautiful, I
was able to enjoy the way it differed in the anime from the original works.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

"Senko-san" has been developed in various media forms since becoming an anime.

I drew the works with the desire to live alongside Senko, and I’m really happy that through
things such as VR and binaural dramas, that couldn't be done in the manga, it can now be
expressed. The reason you're now able to enjoy the various content being developed that
wasn't possible in the manga, is really thanks to the support we receive from the fans. Also, I'm
really looking forward to the nojya loli content I enjoy. (laughs)

Lots of people began to like nojya loli thanks to "Senko-san".

I'm glad nojya lolis have become liked. It was a successful mission to recruit for the religion!

Has anything changed since the anime?

No, nothing changes. My delusion of living a daily life with Senko continues unchanged.

But, the awareness of the content of "Senko-san" has increased, and there are more ways to
enjoy it. So we simply have to keep making more and more interesting works... I think I feel my
body tightening up.

Is there any feedback from the anime back into the manga?

Basically there isn't a lot of wavering, but the expansion from the anime can be brought back
into the manga. For example, in the manga, I only drew about the existence of "Inari Shoujo
Yoko-chan", but the stories and lines from the anime were brought into the spotlight in the 34th
Tail. So in that sense, it may have an effect.

By the way, what kind moments feel healing for you Rimukoro?

I feel extremely healed when I sleep. The moment of being wrapped in a soft and fluffy futon is
the best time to be healed. While drawing the co-sleeping situation in the third tail, I was
thinking "I want to sleep while fluffing Senko's tail". The situation to sleep together in VR was
fun.

Lastly, can you please share a message with all of the Senko fans out there.

In the future, I will write in stores in "Senko-san" about Nakano's black haze, about being
together with Senko, and the relationship changes between the characters, so I'll be glad if you
can enjoy it. Moving forward, I will continue to write the manga with the same unchanged
desire of being healed by Senko, which is becoming more and more interesting thanks to your
support.

"Sewayaki Kitsune Senko-san", serialized in "Comic Newtype" since October 2017 released
it's fifth volume in October of 2019. Encounters, healing, adventures, and challenges are
brought together through these stories. I think a large number of readers have been pampered
by them. On this page, we carried out a readers choice popularity vote from all 48 episodes
(1st ~ 39th Tail, Extra Volumes, and the included bonus stories) of up to "Senko" Volume 5.
Readers decided the 10 most healing episodes. If you haven't read it yet, why not use it as a
reference for reading?

Ninth Tail

Volume 2

You seem tired

I’ve come to wash your back.

What is it master?

Your face looks as if it’s seen the end of the world…

What's that smell coming from Nakano, who had just returned home after a few days!? Senko,
unable to ignore it, told Nakano he needed to take a bath. Then, Senko also came into the
bathroom…?

The most #1 most memorable scene is the bathtime scene drawn in the anime. A bonus 4-
panel comic featuring a child-like Nakano is also a must-see episode.

Second Place

First Tail

Volume 1

Let me pamper you fully!

My name is Senko!

I’ve been alive for 800 years.

I’m a fox demigod.

Nananko is an exhausted office worker who arrives home on the last train every day. When he
returns home to his apartment, the figure of Senko, a kitsune demigod is there. She said she
take care of Nakano but...?

When Senko and Nakano both met together for the first time in the First Tail, ranked in second
place.

You also came here for demigod training?

Umm, something like that…

Suzu is an apprentice who came to the head temple. She's there in order to meet a fox named
Yozora, but doesn't know where to go to meet her. Meanwhile, while having urgent business
with Yozora, she meets a fox named Sen.

In 3rd place is the apprentice demigod Suzu-chan's debut episode. Suzu-chan, who
misunderstands Senko to be an apprentice just like her and talks about her dreams, is cute in
any case.

Senko greeted Nakano, who had returned home in a depressed mood, to Izakaya Senko.

Senko was home with a smartphone, but she didn't know how to use it. She managed to learn

Senko, who was unskilled with digital things, faced a smartphone challenge in the thirty ninth

Senko was trying to prepare dinner, but the refrigerator was empty. It's hopeless like this, and
so together with Nakano they went shopping at the Supermarket!

7th place goes to the time when Nakano and Senko went out to the supermarket. The scene
where they realize the distance between them has shrink, while illuminated by the sunset is
probably one of the most famous scenes of this work.

Volume 4

This is a good chance to learn about the human world

I'll go and deliver it to him directly!

By train!

Nakano left his bento behind when he left for work! Senko noticed it and with great effort rode
the train to deliver it to his office.

Using it for the first time, this is Senko's delivery episode. Be sure to check the book to confirm
Senko's look of relief when she finally met up with Nakano!

Fifth Tail

Volume 1

If you let me clean your ears

You can touch mine!

Senko told Nakano that she will clean his ears. However, her knee pillow was very
embarrassing. But, in return she said it's okay to touch her ears…?

As for 9th place, three episodes placed in the exact same rank within the top ten. The fifth tail's
ear cleaning situation is the same one attached to this book as a newly drawn poster.

Senko!?

It's been a few months since coming to Nakano's room. Senko has decided to take on the
challenge of the home appliances. Air condition, vacuum cleaner, washing machine… However,
they didn't work out as Senko had expected…

Senko’s home appliance battle (?) episode made the list. Eventually unable to deal with the
home appliances, Senko became overwhelmed, and extremely adorable.

Ninth Place

Thirteenth Tail

Volume 2

I’ll step on you!

Thank you very m…

Wha?

Nakano had a sprained back. Senko can’t just let him stay like that and suggests a massage.
However, the method Senko used was to step on Nakano's back.

The thirteenth tail healed by the pleasant noises the two of them let out during the massage.
Surely you want to be massaged as well…!

RIm and Maki Talk

"Mental Care" "Entertainment Duo" "Publicity Manager" "Vtuber Otaku”...

Credited by illustrator Maki Hitsuji, they have different roles in the afterword of each "Senko"
book. A conversation with close friends Maki Hitsuji and Rimukoro who work together as the
virtual YouTuber "RIm and Maki” has materialized. This is the unveil of an offline collaboration
to hear about their story, of the relationship between "RIm and Maki" who also appeared in the
anime, as well as their involvement with "Senko".

(* Please see pages 80 - 83 for a published solo interview with Rimukoro)

How did Rimukoro and Maki Hitsuji come to meet?

Rimukoro (hereafter referred to as RIm): We became mutual followers on Twitter, and "Let's talk
a little bit" was a common pattern.

Maki Hitsuji (hereafter referred to as Maki): If I remember correctly, the Doujin Event in
September 2015 was the first time we met.

RIm: From there, we would regularly talk and became closer more and more. Not long after, I
started to do drawing broadcasts on Niconico Live.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Maki: I remember RIm's readthrough of my first drawings, where he said "Leave it to director
Nojya Loli" and "soon you'll be diligently drawing an original" while reading with a pleased
appearance.

RIm: I'm not sure about that situation (laughs).

It was in 2017 when Rimukoro there started serializing "Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san", but
in the afterword of each book, Maki Hitsuji is credited with a different role in each volume. What
specifically are you in charge of?

RIm: A variety of different things.

Maki: I provide advice to RIm during times when he comes to me saying things like "I'm in
trouble... what should I do?", so it might be something close to being a safe space, or mental
clinic.

RIm: I wrote "mental care" specifically in the first volume, because I was uneasy with regards to
the start of publication, when I would ask "Is this okay?", a response would come from the
background saying "it's good, you know." During those times, Maki was extremely helpful.

Maki: When people are anxious and uneasy, I just did what a friend would do.

RIm: In addition to that, I received a lot of help with character design. I would consult with Maki
every time I drew.

During your character design consultations, what sort of things were talked about?

RIm: From the moment we started preparing for publication, we were thinking together about
the pattern of Senko's hairstyle.

Maki: A lot of Shiro's hairstyle patterns came out as well.

RIm: I created the original character designs by myself, but when it comes opinions on
determining which sort of image is better suited, but because multiple different people are
better than by just myself for coming up with all sorts of ideas, I would routinely seek
consultation from Maki.

Maki: At first, Koenji and Shiro's proposed hairstyle designs were very similar. So, we adjusted
the hairstyle of Shiro, who shows up after Koenji had.

RIm: Also, Nakano's room was modeled after Maki's room.

Maki: That's why Nakano's room's layout is almost idential to the room from that time where I
lived as a corporate drone.

RIm: The only difference is we removed the otaku elements.

Maki: I peeled off all of the posters I had hung up and it looked like a generic corporate drone's
room… I took a bunch of different pictures and sent them to RIm. Which reminds me, in the
dead of night a message came saying "take a picture of your apartment building's entrance", I
went down the stairs and took a picture, while worrying about not looking suspicious. When I
Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

said "I can't draw snowscapes", he told me to take pictures of snow piled up in my
neighbourhood as reference material…

Why did you use Maki Hitsuji's room instead of Rimukoro's own room?

RIm: I lived together with my family, so I wanted to capture the feeling of a corporate drone
living alone in a commuter town. Maki matched that perfectly.

Maki: It was perfectly suited as a busy and untouched feeling room.

When I listen to that story, it seems like Maki Hitsuji is Rumukora's second in command…

RIm: It's something like that. I'm in charge of the story consultation, but with regards to the
design side of things, I largely rely on Maki. We talked about advertising at the start of
serialization, as well as various other things. Because we talked about that kind of thing, we felt
like it's better to change the name of each volume, rather than a specific position.

Thats what you call a trusted friend.

RIm: We watched anime together for a while. Something like "Princess Principal" and "Flip
Flappers.” As we accumulated watching those, we knew we were nearing completion, and it
was easy to talk about our work. Well, I often recommended it, saying "that was interesting" so
it's inevitable they would be somewhat similar.

Maki: I'm not the kind of person who gets involved with a lot of different works, so I feel like I
learned how to enjoy them from people like RIm, who touches a lot of them. But, maybe
because there was nobody to rely on, he was able to rely on me.

RIm: No, I trusted you because I really trusted your skills as an illustrator.

Maki: Thanks. (laughs)

The two of you started your activity as the Virtual YouTubers "RIm and Maki" in 2018. Why did
a pro manga artist and illustrator decided to start as Vtubers?

Maki: In the first place, I was already streaming my drawings on the Nico Live community.
Around that time, the virtual "Loli Fox Girl Uncle" youtuber was popular, and I talked with RIm
about "this being interesting”. Over time, various Vtubers came out. I realized that if I used
FaceRig and Live2D, I could create a similar model with my own drawings. Originally, I was
watching a game live, I thought it was interesting, and decided to invite RIm. Nowadays, there
are lots of care-free individuals, but at that time it seemed there was a strong trend to become
a Vtuber. So try to take someone along with you. (laughs) At first RIm's face showed
reluctance, but I said "If you draw it, I'll make it all in Live2D!", and so he became a Vtuber
against his will. Become a beautiful young girl involves joining two simple things together,
drawing a girl, and making sure the motions match the person.

RIm: To start, I was only thinking of doing this as an extension of the Nico Livestream, I never
thought it would go viral like it did. And it even seemed okay for the voice to be of a man, so
that's really about it.

Maki: I really didn’t think the buzz would reach so far, the word babiniku (Editors Note: babiniku

is short for Virtual Beautiful Girl Incarnation. Men who create beautiful girl models, and act as
Vtubers with them) felt like something we alone used. But that wasn't the case.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

RIm: We may have lit the flame of the movement, but it wasn't us who made it burn.

Maki: At first, if an artist created his own avatar, it was a good way to promote their work. So I
didn't think it would go this far. The models themselves, the two of us together made in a short
period of only 2 days.

RIm: Maki said that at first I was opposed, but knowing the book would be released, the the
timing made me realize how busy we would be. However, the model creation ended up being
almost instantaneous, and so I became a Vtuber. (laughs)

These two people also appeared in the "Senko-san" anime, but how did that come to be?

RIm and Maki

The duo of RIm-chan (Rimukoro), a virtual manga artist characterised by his fox ears,
and Makichan (Maki Hitsuji), a charming virtual illustrator who wears a sheep on her
head. In addition to games on YouTube, they share drawings and designs (creating and
using female avatars) with FaceRig and Live2D. Fans are split between the "Maki RIm"
group, and the "RIm Maki" group, and the dispute over who is the dominant one and
who is the submissive one happens on a daily basis.

Page 90

Maki: That was the staff’s idea of a practical joke! (laughs)

RIm: One day, the staff suddenly asked "Would it be okay to use RIm and Maki as game
characters in the anime?” No, even if you say that... they liked feeling something like that. I
think that there were probably some within the staff who liked us. (laughs)

Maki: The character design had also much improved, and I felt like this was their strongest
practical joke so far. In both the VR and Television versions, "Winner MAKI" is shown on the
screen, but one theory for that is that the person in charge of Gugenka is a fan of ours.

RIm: It seems that the person in charge at Gugenka is part of team Maki and Rim. Both the
“Winner MAKI” and “Winner RIm” options were there. (laughs)

In the ending, there are 4 names of Vtubers.

Maki: Those were Hayama Midori from design, and Henda Atsumi, Rimu's head editor.

Rim: That was passed around with everyone supervising the credits, there wasn't a meeting
about it, but everyone had changed the names written down as a joke. Really, everyone was
thinking only about themselves.

Because that sort of thing happened, it probably became known that both of you are Vtubers
who had worked on "Senko-san" right?

Rim: It's interesting for me to enter the works in such form, and I feel a great sense of
appreciation for it.

Maki: When I first started as a Vtuber, the first volume of "Senko-san" had just been released,
so I had to tell them that such a work existed. A while ago it was said I was in charge of
advertising, but I felt like I had to recommend the "Senko-san" manga to everyone. Manga
artist's and illustrator's fan bases differ, and so I thought that if we can share one another's
Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

work to both groups of fans, it would be a powerful form of publicity. Originally, I had
anticipated the Vtuber culture growing, and by riding on the power of "Senko-san", I felt i was
able to really help spread it in a good way.

Rim: There was a desire to create a source of information for those interested in "Senko-san"
from outside the manga world. It's interesting how Vtubers have become an information tool as
a result.

It was probably for the best that you didn't start out just thinking about creating buzz with one
another.

Maki: Because one another's main business was in different parts of the Vtuber world, I think
we loosened up and didn’t take things too seriously.

Rim: I'm not going to be famous as a Vtuber. Recently, we've been broadcasting once every 2
months. But, because we do it whenever we feel like it, I'm happy that everyone can look
forward to it.

Maki: Honestly, it's good to both have separate viewers.

Rim: We're just meandering through and playing games. It's fine if Rim and Maki don't stand
out front and centre.

When it comes to having fun, it's the same for manga artists and illustrators.

Rim: That's right. The feeling of enjoying entertainment for everyone doesn't change when
drawing manga, or broadcasting.

Maki: Manga artists and illustrators are incorrectly considered as similar occupations, but at the
base meaning, in terms of entertainment spirit I think they're similar.

Rim: There might be the case where the same Manga Artists and Illustrators exhibit too much
of a rival mentality, making it difficult to consult with one another. But, because it's a different
profession, I feel that myself as a manga artist, talking with Maki as an Illustrator is a good tool,
I think it's a good sense of distance, not too far and not too close.

By the way Maki, when do you feel instantly healed?

Maki: It's really frustrating, but it's a perfect match between my moments of healing, and
"Senko"'s impressions in the remaining episodes. When there's no business, it's really
frustrating...

Rimu: (laughs)

Maki: I can't lie that I've been so frustrated I didn't have the will to feed myself. I really love to
sleep. When I get tired of painting, I usually like to take a break and immerse myself in games
and anime. Other than sleeping, eating, and drawing, I there really isn't anything I like as much.

Do you both have the same favourite episode?

Maki: My favourite is the same as Rim's, the time they leave the house (in the 4th tail). But for
different reasons. (laughs) I was shown this episode as Rim was working on it, and at that time,
I felt really impressed by how good it was. But, most impressive, was to see my room come to
Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

light in the "Senko-san" anime. With "Super Senko-san Time" it was like having a cool first-
person view with Senko in the room I originally lived in!? Senko is really within me. But, I only
watched the bath time objectively. Nakano's bath was much more luxurious than the one in my
room. (laughs)

Rim: The bath in Maki’s house was a little smaller.

Maki: It had been remodeled to feel nice from the narrow bathroom of a male corporate drone
who lives alone... Nakano took a much better bath together with Senko than me. That was the
most impressive.

What is Maki Hitsuji's charm, as seen from Rimukoro?

Rim: Her drawings are skillful you know. It's also true in my case, but for Maki, he’s stoic about
painting. Because of that similarity, we're a good match for one another.

Maki: It's big to have such pure respect for one another.

Rim: I'm very serious with regards to drawing illustrations and manga, and I think the attitude
to keep going is probably quite similar.

Maki: But the order of priority is lower (laughs sarcastically).

Rim: Drawing takes first priority, with everything other than that, including daily relationships
and connections stand below… What I want to see, are hopeless lost causes being drawn to
one another. (laughs) But, I really respect and appreciate those who take a serious attitude
towards painting.

So then, what's appeal does Maki Hitsuji see in Rimukoro?

Maki: What I respect about Rim is that he continues to draw numerous works of “Senko-san.” I
think there are differences between myself as an illustrator, and Rim as a manga artist, and I
think that thinking about frame layouts and storytelling is very difficult. Thinking about dialogue
and overall flow, an illustrators process becomes smaller compared to it. In my case, because
it's so important how much of your soul you can put into a single picture, I respect the
obedience needed to be able to work continuously on drawing a single piece for a long period
of time. Recently, I've been thinking of working on drawing a story of my own, and I'm
influenced by Rim.

Rim: Thank you… but, I'm not good at putting my soul into a single character design, so I rely
on Maki, because he's able to understand that feeling. While listening to his view every day, I
study, and also find myself encouraged.

It's a portion that works well, because you don't share the same occupation.

Maki: I agree. Of course I have friends who are also illustrators, but it's painful to hear things
like "I think this is better!" when talking about ones work. It's difficult to say such things if
you're not close when in different fields, because if that person doesn't know how much you
put your soul into your work, then they're stepping on land mines.

Rimu: If you're in a different field, you can have some objectivity.

Translated by ヒップスターザメ
twitter.com/hippustazame

Maki: Because I understand where Rim is putting his focus, it may be a relationship where we
can meet and consult.

Alright, then lastly, please leave us with a message from Maki Hitsuji for those reading this
book.

Maki: No, honestly, the only message I can think to send to "Senko-san" fans is "are you
sane!?" (laughs). But, Rimu-chan... Rimukoro is always working very hard, trying his best to
create his works. If readers continue to show their support, I think they'll get what they expect.

Rimu: That’s a high hurdle… I’ll do my best!
