Most importantly, MyIBA is an area where you can update your personal details, which will
then be accessible to all IBA members.

How to log in?

Your committee membership
The MyIBA homepage provides you with direct links to the committees of which you are
already a member, in addition to other committees within your section(s) that you could
benefit from joining.

PPID and LPD committees

The IBA is grouped into two divisions: the Legal Practice Division (LPD), which covers all areas
of legal practice, and the Public and Professional Interest Division (PPID), which covers issues
which may be of interest to lawyers regardless of practice area.

Each division is broken down into a variety of specialist committees, which form the core of
IBA membership. Committees are comprised of members grouped by area of practice and
interest. By joining, IBA members benefit from being able to communicate with colleagues
across the world, who practise in the same field. You can find a full list of committees on the
IBA website: www.ibanet.org/Committees/Committee_Index.aspx.Individual members:

General members can join one PPID committee and one regional forum free of charge.
General members wishing to add an LPD committee to their membership will be upgrading to
full membership and will be required to pay the difference in fees for the full membership.

Full members can join one LPD committee, one PPID committee and a regional forum
free of charge.

Make sure to take full advantage of your free committee membership. As an IBA member you
can add further LPD and PPID committees or regional fora to your membership at any time.
Please note there is a £25 fee for each additional committee or forum.

can also upload a photo and write a short biography, so make sure your
areas of practice are accurately represented to connect to the right people.

• Simply download the app (search for International Bar Association and
download the IBA Members’ Directory) via the Apple App Store or
Google Play Store

• Login with your IBA membership user ID and password

IBA Digital
The IBA recognises that not all of our members can attend the IBA
conferences, therefore, many of the conference materials have been made available online.

digitalcontent.aspx to watch sessions online. You can access it for free with your username
and password.

Build your profile within the IBA
The committees are an integral part of your membership, and exist to help you network,
build your profile and improve your practice. With so many to choose from it can be hard to
know which committee may be relevant to you, to find out more about each committee, go
to the committee index found under ‘Committees and Divisions’. Here you can explore the
committees, get in contact with current officers, and view the publications of the committees
you’re a member of.

How to get involved with a committee

In order to be active within the IBA we always recommend contacting your committees’
chair or membership officers. They are open to and interested in all members’ ideas, and
experiences, and will guide you on how best to be involved. Member participation is essential
to the growth and development of the IBA committee community, and we find that active
committee members are those that get the most out of their membership.

Write articles
If you are interested in publishing articles on committee webpages or in journals, look out
for IBA calls for articles, which are sent to all committee members. Alternatively, get in touch
with the relevant committee publication officer or chair, or contact the IBA office at editor@
int-bar.org.

You will find officers’ contact details on the individual committee webpage.

Speak at IBA conferences

If you would like to speak at an IBA Annual Conference, or any specialist conference, contact
the chairs or co-chairs of the committees that reflect your expertise or interests. It is advisable
to contact the chairs as soon as possible, with
a brief introduction and biography, and a
short explanation of what you would like to
speak about.

It is the committee officers who set up

the committee sessions at the Annual
Conference. Once the committee decides on
the subjects it will be covering, it will arrange
speaker invitations. If you have already taken
the necessary steps to introduce yourself and
inform the committee chairs of your interest
in participating as a speaker, they will contact

you if they wish to pursue your proposal.

For further questions visit our Frequently

Asked Questions webpage:

member@int-bar.org.

Attend IBA conferences

The IBA stages and supports over 50 specialist
conferences each year in major cities
throughout the world, reflecting the breadth
of practice areas, professional interests and
global scope of the Association.

In addition to providing opportunity for unparalleled international networking, attending IBA

conferences is a great way to meet your continuing professional development requirements,
with all IBA events carrying CPD/CLE accreditation.

Make sure you plan and coordinate your attendance at IBA conferences as far in advance as
possible. There will be early booking discounts available, and some conferences sell out quickly.

Monitor the conference schedule, as new conferences are added regularly at:
www.ibanet.org/Conferences/conferences_home.aspx

IBA Annual Conference

Register early for our Annual Conference, monitor attendees to organise side meetings in
advance, and let others know you will be attending. The Annual Conference takes place on a
different continent every year, and attracts around 6,000 legal professionals from around 130
jurisdictions.

Media and publications

Go to IBA Digital, and explore our Media and Publications website. It contains a wide range
of publications, films and online content, which will help you keep abreast of the latest
developments in your field.

You can log in to access a selection of articles relevant to your committees, as well as
conference materials, journals and committee publications.

You will be the first to receive live webcast interview alerts – sign up to watch them live and
put your questions to high-level experts.

QC MP President of Ireland from Prosecutor of the

You can access the online version of our flagship magazine, IBA Global Insight or download
the app from the Apple Store, or Google Play.

The IBA produces a wide range of magazines and journals aimed at various practice areas,
which are included in your membership packages, depending on the committees you selected.
They offer in-depth analysis and insight from leading practitioners, covering contemporary
legal issues and developments across the globe.

The committees also produce regular articles and e-bulletins relevant to their practice area
or region, which can feature reports on conferences, events and committee news, as well as
practice rules and guidelines.

The IBA offers a wealth of online resources, from analysis of the latest legal issues, business
and human rights news, to filmed interviews with high-level experts.
