AIDS Crisis: Springboard for liberal sex education

"The Kinsey Institute, in cooperation
with the Society for the Scientific Study
of Sex (SSSS)-- specifically, its AIDS

and sexuality education in what is now

Ann Welbourne Moglia, former
director of SIECUS, in the Jan/
Feb 1987 SIECUS Report, says it
like this: ”A time of rare
opportunity...to prevent and
educate about AIDS, it is essen-
tial to be able to communicate
and teach about sexuality in
general...Let us hope that as we
are doing everything we can to
stop AIDS, we are also educat-
ing the public about what sex
education is really all about."
Elena Levine of Center for
Population Options declares that
the way to get public acceptance of
school-based clinics is by
"riding in on the coattails of
AIDS." (1)

comments on a U.S. Domestic
Policy Council memorandum
which says that AIDS information,
developed by the federal govern-
ment should place "sexuality
within the context of marriage
and...teach that children should
not engage in sex...." Yarber
complains that "many educators
will object to the moral tone of
this approach." He continues:
"Most educators and healthcare
personnel disagree with the
'marriage-only' stance." (46)
Nicholas Freudenberg of City
Univ. of New York, questions the
right of the Center for Disease
Control to set guidelines for
funding which say: "Messages
must...emphasize the ways
by which individuals can fully
protect themselves from acquiring
the virus...They include
abstinence from the illegal use of
IV drugs and from sexual
intercourse except in a mutually
monogamous relationship
....education programs shall not
be designed to promote or
encourage, directly, intravenous
drug abuse or sexual activity,
homosexual or heterosexual...."
Freudenberg goes on to chastise
those who would use the AIDS
crisis to "advance a moral agenda"
but concludes by saying: "The
AIDS epidemic provides the op-
portunity to fight for... the right to
know about sexuality, drugs, and
AIDS, and the right to protect
one's health. What could be more
moral than to use this terrible epi-
demic as an opportunity to win
this new right?" (47)
In other words, according to
Freudenberg and Yarber, "vocal
minorities" are not to push a
"moral agenda" but it is fine for
the SIECUS tribe to push what
most Americans would call the
"immoral agenda."

founder of SIECUS drafted "A
New Bill of Sexual Rights and
Responsibilites" to supplement
the sexuality statement found in
Humanist Manifesto II. Pub-
lished as a booklet, its pages ad-
vocated free love, adultery, mas-
turbation, homosexuality, bi-
sexuality, abortion, sterilization,
pornography, decriminalization
of prostitution, and access to
sexual realtions for person in
mental institutions and prisons.
Among the sighners of the "bill"

ing, consequently I assumed that it had none and was able
without any difficulty to find satisfactory reasons for this
assumption....The philosophy of meaninglessness was essen-
tially an instrument of liberation. The liberation we desired

According to
Hefner, in the 1960's the

Playboy Foundation made the
initial grant to establish an

annual dinner held by

The SIECUS 1970 Book List
included: "The Playboy Philoso-
phy" by Hugh Hefner — a work
blaming Christianity for crimes
against humanity. (8p48) In turn,
Hefner's "Playboy Advisor" col-
umn of December 1968 recom-
mended SIECUS sex ed materi-
als to parents. (8p48)
While SIECUS was estab-
lished as the sex education arm
of the Kinsey Institute, it was
Playboy magazine that carried
Kinseyan sex belief into the
popular media. Hugh Hefner,
the captain of Playboy, says
that as a young college student
he was "indelibly impressed by
the famous Kinsey report on
American sexual behavior."

Kinsey's study recorded in
"Sexual Behavior in the Human
Male" (1948) claimed that man

for the Clinton Administration.
Reprinted in the January 1993
SIECUS Report, this document
calls for "respect for the diver-
sity of values and beliefs about
sexuality." SIECUS asserts that
"sexuality is a natural healthy
part of living" and each indi-
vidual must have the right to
ma k e " r e s p o n s i b l e s e x u a l
choices." Interpreted, this means
"any sexual activity is acceptable
for any person at any age."
These generalizations belie the
fact that SIECUS lacks respect
for religious, traditional sexual
beliefs and is actively trying to
destroy them. "Respect" is re-
served for SIECUS beliefs only.
Months later in November
1993, Clinton unveiled "Health
Security Act" (S 1757) which de-
votes 40 pages to "Title G-Corn-
SIECUS identified five policy areas for the
Clinton administration to act upon:
1) Support for comprehensive sexuality education.
2) Implementation of straightforward and explicit HIV/AIDS
prevention education.
3) Support for reproductive rights, including the freedom to
choose abortion and access to family planning information,
and services for all, regardless of gender or age or ability to pay.
4) Elimination of bias based upon sexual orientation.
5) Opposition to censorship of art and sexually-explicit materials.

Max Lerner, a friend of Hugh
Hefner, claimed: "Alfred
Kinsey...gave Hefner the re-
search base for the...Playboy
Philosophy." (29p25) Kinsey's
research has since been discred-
ited and shown to be "unscien-
tific." And so for 40 years, since
its first issue in 1953, Playboy

Meanwhile, back on the ranch
in Oregon, Gov. Barbara Rob-
erts' Teen Pregnancy Task Force
presented "Sex, Teens and
Oregon's Plan" (1994), an action
plan for cutting Oregon's teen
pregnancy rate in half by the
year 2000. The goal to give
"children a chance to be born to
parents ready and able to care
for them" is highly honorable.
However, "teen pregnancy pre-
vention" is a favorite handle
used by slick sexperts to move
SIECUS "comprehensive sex
education" into public agencies
and schools. Oregon's "Plan" is
no exception.
"Sex, Teens & Oregon's Plan"
calls for expanded access to birth
control (Ed. condoms in
schools); accurate sexuality in-
formation (Ed. explicit SIECUS-
style, of course); more school-
based clinics (Ed. for contracep-
tives and abortion, not sprained
ankles); Teach the teachers (Ed.
indoctinate in politically-correct
immorality); and make "compre-
hensive" Family Life/human

those promoting SIECUS-style
sex education are loyal Ameri-
cans, many individuals with
backgrounds of subversive ac-
tivities have been involved in the
sensitive field of sex education.

SIECUS officials, recommended
authors, or supporters with
known Communist ties.
ISADORE RUBIN: former di-
rector and long-time treasurer of
SIECUS and editor of SIECUS
newsletter.(27) Paul Putnam, of
the National Education Associa-
tion stated: "Dr. Rubin has never
been charged with subversion by
any agency of the U.S. govern-
ment; he denied membership in
the Communist Party, under
oath, before the House Labor
and Education Committee in
1948..." (25)
However, in 1952 Rubin in-
voked the First and Fifth
Amendments to evade questions
on this same charge (see 24). On
May 3, 1955, Mildred Blauvelt
gave sworn testimony before the
House Committee on Un-Ameri-
can Activities that Rubin was in-
deed a member of the Commu-
nist Party. Mrs. Blauvelt, as an
undercover operative within the
Communist Party for the New
York police department, had at-
tended the same Red cell as

Isadore had also served as editor
of the N.Y. Teachers News, pub-
lished by the Communist-con-
trolled Teachers Union of New

Prior to his death in 1970,
Isadore compiled the 1970

structs teachers, and consults
with health educators.
Oregon's coordinator for
HIV/AIDS education, Claudia
Webster, has obviously worked
with ETR. Webster is also cer-
tified as a sex educator by
AASECT, meaning she has
been through the explicit, por-
nographic process AASECT
calls "training."
"Experts" enlisted for ETR's
AMERICAN ASSOCIA-

COUNSELORS AND

assist those responsible...for

schools." By 1977, ten
SIECUS officials had served

In 1971, their Fourth National
Sex Institute featured speakers
who used "gutter" language,
and a film of explicit sexual
activity was shown by a propo-

SIECUS Invades
Teaching the teachers
The Kinsey-SIECUS elite
gained widespread control over
U.S. sex education by setting
themselves up as the accrediting
body for university-based human
sexuality programs which train
the educators (advanced de-
grees) who train the educators
(undergraduate) who train the
children.
In 1983, the Society for the
Scientific Study of Sex (SSSS)
formed a committee assigned to
develop accreditation guidelines
for University degree programs
in Human Sexuality.

bers included a former student of
Lester Kirkendall of Oregon
State University, Deryck
Calderwood, who was a SIECUS
board member and professor at
New York University: Kenneth
George, an avowed homosexual
who headed the Human Sexual-
ity program at Univ. of Pennsyl-
vania; Wardell Pomeroy, Dean
of the Institute for the Advanced
Study of Human Sexuality in San
Francisco. All three of these de-
gree programs teach Kinseyan

Paul Gebhard, former director
of Kinsey Institute also served

condom usage to teenagers in-
evitably conveys five dangerous
ideas: (1) that "safe sex" is
achievable; (2) that everybody is
doing it; (3) that responsible
adults expect them to do it; (4)
that it's a good thing; and (5) that
their peers know they know these
things, breeding promiscuity.
These are very destructive mes-
sages to our kids.
Furthermore, Planned
Parenthood's own data show that
the number one reason teenagers
engage in intercourse is peer
pressure! Therefore, anything
we do to imply that "everybody
is doing it" results in more...not
fewer...people who give the
game a try. What I'm saying is
that our condom distribution
programs do not reduce the num-
ber of kids exposed to
disease...they radically increase
it!
Want proof of that fact?
Since the Planned Parenthood-
type programs began in 1970,
unwed pregnancies have in-
creased 87 percent among 18-
and 19-year olds. Likewise,
abortions among teens rose to
346,900 in 1988; unplanned
births went up 61 percent. And
venereal disease has infected a
generation of young people.
Nice job, Planned Parenthood.
Good thinking, senators and con-
gressmen. Nice nap, America.
Having made a blunder that
now threatens the human fam-
ily, the same people who got us
into this mess are continuing to
establish our approach to teen
sexuality. When will we recog-
nize that they are the problem,
not the solution to it!
Viruses are 450 times smaller
than sperm, and pass easily
through even the smallest gaps.
Researchers studying surgical
gloves made of latex, the same
material in condoms, found
`channels of 5 microns that pen-
published "Manual for Accredi-
tation" which recommended for
courses such topics as "sexual
variations" and "alternate
lifestyles." (28p147)
A half-page SIECUS ad ap-
peared in the Spring 1965 issue
of "The Humanist" stating this
intention: "Using specialized
advisory committees, SIECUS
will develop teaching stan-
dards and syllabi for profes-
sional schools and public
schools at all levels,...plans to
conduct its own teaching insti-
tutes for the continuing educa-
tion of physicians, teachers, so-
cial workers, etc."(8p40)
The Winter 1967 SIECUS
Newsletter states: "SIECUS will
soon link its efforts with those of
a large publishing house to de-
velop teaching materials of vari-
ous kinds for ...grammar schools,
high schools,...adult education."
A June 22, 1970 press re-
lease revealed that a $200,000
matching grant from Ford
Foundation to SIECUS would
be concentrating "on work
with teacher-trainers, clergy,
youth groups, law-enforce-
ment officers, social workers,
nurses, and community lead-
ers." The Education Office of
U.S. Department of Health,
Education and Welfare funded
a Dec. 1966 SIECUS confer-

From its beginning, SIECUS
provided the database in a part-
nership with New York Univer-
sity which educated the educa-

all. And yet they're perfectly
willing to tell our kids that
`safe sex' is within reach and
that they can sleep around
with impunity.
Since 1970, the federal gov-
ernment has spent over $2 bil-
lion to promote condom usage
and "safe sex." This year alone,
$450 million of your tax dollars
will go down that drain! (Com-
pared with less that $8 million
for abstinence programs, which
Sen. Teddy Kennedy and com-
pany have sought repeatedly to
eliminate altogether.) Is it time to
ask what we've gotten for our
money? After 22 years and $2
billion, some 57 percent of sexu-
ally active teens still never use
contraceptives during inter-
course! Of the remaining 43 per-
cent, many use condoms improp-
erly or only occasionally. That is
the success ratio of the experts
who call abstinence "unrealistic"
and "unworkable."
There is only one way to pro-
tect ourselves from the deadly
diseases that lie in wait. It is
abstinence before marriage,
then marriage and mutual fi-
delity for life to an uninfected
partner. Anything less is po-
tentially suicidal.

What does SIECUS want to
teach your children?
In October 1991, a SIECUS
task force published "Guide-
lines for Comprehensive Sexu-
ality Education: K-12" which
has been sent to all U.S. school
boards, asking for their lead-
ership in promoting sex educa-
tion "in every grade in every
school." (SIECUS Position
Statements 1991)
Twenty SIECUS-appointed
sexperts on the Task Force,
funded by Carnegie Corporation
of New York, represented famil-
iar organizations: U.S. Centers
for Disease Control, American
Medical Association, National
School Boards Association, Na-
tional Education Association,
March of Dimes Birth Defects
Foundation, Planned Parenthood
Federation of America, experi-
enced sex education teachers and
"national program consultants
and trainers." (Editor: Sexual At-
titude Reassessment graduates?).
William Yarber, Professor of
Health Education at Indiana Uni-
versity and a SIECUS board
member, chaired the Task Force.
"Guidelines" "...emerged as
consensus beliefs of the task
force." In other words, twenty
Kinsey-SIECUS disciples
pooled their "beliefs" to come
up with what they think all
American children should
learn about sex. Noticeably ab-
sent from the committee were
representatives of traditional
family beliefs, such as Dr.
James Dobson or Phyllis
Schlafly.
Therefore, we expect to see
Kinseyan ideology lacing the en-
tire document. And that is ex-
actly what we find.
"Guidelines" consists of 700
declarative statements divided
into "Key Concepts" by age
level. The statements sound like
objective facts, but upon closer
inspection we find them filled
with truth, half-truth, falsehood,
value-bias, contradiction and
hidden agenda.
1. One major theme found in
"Guidelines" is acceptance of
all sexual relationships as
equal in value. We see a diluted
definition of family: "A family
consists of two or more people
who care for each other in many
ways."(p.17 age 5-8) In fact, a
family is a group of people re-
lated by blood or legal contract.
But the looser definition accom-
modates co-habitation, com-
munes, homosexual serial part-
nerships, etc. "Two people who
cohabit can have the same com-
mitment and responsibility to-
ward one another as married
people." (p22 age 12-15) "Ho-
mosexual love relationships can
be as fulfilling as heterosexual
relationships." (p15 age 9-12)
"Gay men and lesbian women
can establish lifelong committed
relationships." (p 15 age 12-15)
2. A second foundational
theme is "sex as pleasure."
How amazing that after thou-
sands of years of successful hu-
man procreation, these sexperts
think this needs to be "taught."
However: "Both girls and boys
have body parts that feel good
when touched." (p11 age 5-8)
"Both men and women can expe-
rience sexual pleasure through-
out their lives." (p12 age 15-18)
"Intercourse is a pleasurable ac-
tivity for most adults." (34 age 5-
8) "Sexual intercourse provides
pleasure," (p12 age 9-12) is fol-
lowed up for pre-pubertal chil-
dren by: "There are ways to have
genital intercourse without caus

3. A third theme lacing its
way through "Guidelines" is

their consequences are evalu-

dard. What values? Any values?

HOMOSEXUALITY
We note the politically correct
statement that "People do not
choose their sexual orientation"
(p15 age 12-15) which is com-
plicated by a statement on the
next page: "...one's sexual orien-
tation may change during life."
(p16 age 15-18) The first con-
cept, undocumented by studies,
is being used to seek minority
status for homosexuals. The sec-
ond statement is essential if ho-
mosexuals are to recruit hetero-
sexuals. Indeed, the final con-
cept on p. 16 says to 15-18 year
olds: "The telephone number of
the gay and lesbian switchboard
is..." and then gives the national
number.
Under the topic, "Diversity"
we find emphasis on "discrimi-
nation" used to automatically re-
fer to negative or unequal treat-
ment of persons. The concepts
make no mention of the fact that
a civilized society, while not
downgrading individual people,
must "discriminate" in favor of
health over disease, right over
wrong, moral over immoral, dis-
criminate use of sexuality over
indiscriminate sexual expression.
MASTURBATION
Masturbation has recently
been added to the SIECUS Posi-
tion Statements 1991. The
Guidelines define and encourage
it, beginning with age 5-8. For
age 12-15: "Masturbation, either
alone or with a partner, is one
way a person can enjoy and ex-
press their sexuality without risk-
ing pregnancy or an STD/HIV."

Encouraging masturbation for
youth is one way to lead youth
toward homosexual behavior,
and prepare the young for a fu-
ture agenda item - pedophilia.

MARRIAGE AND ABSTI-
NENCE
Highly praiseworthy is the
mention of the words "marriage"
and "abstinence" as major top-
ics. However, of the 34 concepts
under "Marriage and Lifetime
Commitments," 12 include the
word "divorce." Cohabitation
and homosexual lifetime com-
mitments are confirmed. (pp 21-
22, all ages) "Abstinence" as
used, means "no intercourse" but
affirms all other sexual activities,
even though these tend to lead to
intercourse. "There are many
ways to give and receive sexual
pleasure and not have inter-
course." (p34 age 12-15)
Though several of the "absti-
nence" guidelines are beneficial,
the underlying theme is "sex is
for adults" rather than "sex is for
marriage."
CONTRACEPTION
While "abstinence" carries 16
concepts, "contraception" and
"abortion" carry 46 concepts.
One wonders just how a teacher
might approach a group of 12-15
year olds with: "There are ways
a sexual partner can help with
each method of contraception."
(p38 age 12-15) "People can
find creative and sensual ways of
integrating contraception into
their sexual relationship." (p38
age 15-18) "Some religions
teach that contraception is desir-
able; others do not approve of
contraception." (p37 age 9-12)
And then they proceed to
teach the entire class the how-to
of contraceptives, disregarding
the values of the students taught
differently by parents and
church.
ABORTION
Blatant bias and falsehood
permeates the topic of "Abor-
tion." These two statements have
it backwards: "A legal abortion
is very safe." (p39 age 9-12)
"Childbirth is a natural process
that is usually safe for the mother
and the baby." (p43 age 12-15)
In truth, legal abortion is very
risky, emotionally and physi-
cally. Complications can occur,
even suicides afterwards. But
childbirth is "very safe" due to
its naturalness and advanced
medical technology which has
made deaths from childbirth
practically non-existent.
A second falsehood: "Having
an abortion rarely interferes with
a woman's ability to become
pregnant or give birth in the fu-
ture." (p39 age 12-15)
Reputable sources put the risk
for sterility and/or future miscar-
riages between 4 and 10 times
increase for aborted women.
A clear half-truth: "Abortion is
not a method of contraception."
(p39 age 12-15) Though techni-
cally true, in reality over 95% of
all abortions are done for conve-
nience reasons. A large percent-
age of aborting women are not
using contraception and/or are
having repeat abortions.
EXPLICIT MATERIALS
According to "SIECUS Posi-
tion Statements 1991: "SIECUS
supports the use of...explict vi-
sual materials as valuable educa-
tional aids..."
With the excuse of "guaranteed
freedoms of speech and press"
the sex education elite has
opposed laws restricting pornog-
raphy. "Guidelines" reflect this
attitude: "Some people use erotic
photographs, movies, or litera-
ture to enhance their sexual fan-
tasies when alone or with a part-
ner." (p35 age 15-18) "Sexual
fantasies that involve harming
oneself or another person should
never be acted upon." (p35 age
15-18) "There is no evidence
that erotic images in the arts
cause inappropriate sexual be-
havior." (p49 age 15-18)
Numerous SIECUS humanists
write for Playboy, Sexology and
other "art/education" publica-
tions. Given their definition of
art, the third guideline above is
blatantly false. The task force
has obviously, not read Ted
Bundy's testimony or Don
Wildmon's mail, received from
those devastated in mind, body
and social relations by such

PARENTAL AUTHORITY
We all recognize the need for
teens to become increasingly in-
dependent in preparation for
adulthood. However, they are
not yet adults and most still live
at home. "Guidelines" for age
12-18 refer teens to "confiden-
tial" services and community
agencies, rather then parents,
when they encounter problems.
Consider these two guidelines,
each true but opposing each
other: "Teenagers can get confi-
dential testing and treatment for

STD/HIV without parental con-
sent." (p41 age 12-15) "People
who have an STD, HIV infec-
tion, or AIDS need the support
of family and friends." (p41 age
12-15)
Teens are further flooded with
"make up your own mind" rather
than "follow moral rules of home
and society." For example: "In-
dividuals need to examine mes-
sages received from different
sources and establish guidelines
for their own behavior." (p45 age
12-15)
Many "Guideline" statements
are highly debatable. By far the
majority of these "objective"
statements will take on the ideo-
logical color of the person teach-
ing them.
For example: "Children some-
times have to do things they do
not want to do because their par-
ents say so." (p28 age 5-8) One
teacher may support this as a
truth to be respected and explain
that parents are considering the
well-being of the child. Another
teacher might use the occasion to
alienate them from parents by
convincing them this is unfair.
After all, "Everyone, including
children, has rights." (p28 age 58)
The teacher must also define the
"right-wrong" of "things they want
to do" before there can even be
any discussion.
"Many aspects of family life
have changed during the past
several decades." (p18 age 15-
18) Progressive or regressive? It
depends on the teacher's value
system.
The newest SIECUS study "Un-
finished Business" analyzed sex
education programs of 28 states.
Funded by the same Carnegie Cor-
poration that promotes Goals 2000
Education Reform, this study com-
plains that state-developed sex edu-
cation is not yet meeting the "1991"
SIECUS Guidelines." SIECUS
wants more discussion of sexual
identity, abortion, masturbation,
sexual fantasy and sexual dysfunc-
tion.
SIECUS wants curricula to
present "safer sex" as more realistic
than abstinence. They reject the
"just say no" preferred by most
parents and define
RELIGION
While the topic "Sexuality and
Religion" (p48) struggles to be
objective, other statements in
"Guidelines" cast religion in a
negative tone. This should not
surprise us since we understand the
underlying motives for the sexual
revolution and see the connection
with humanistic atheism.
"Conflicts may result in
teenagers and adults who have
been raised in a religion that does
not fully accept human sexuality".
(p48 age 12-15) Do we know of any
religion which "does not fully
accept" the reality of "human
sexuality?" M o r e a c c u r a t e l y
s t a t e d , "Many religions do not
accept the Kinsey-SIECUS view of
sexuality."
Does "Guidelines" subtly suggest
that children must choose between
religion and sex? Omit-• ted from
"Guidelines" is any reference to the
fact that people following religious
morality have a higher percentage of
stable families, lower incidence of
STD/ HIV infection, and in most
cases, happier sex lives.
IN CONCLUSION:
The more naive among edu-
cators will latch on to "Guide-
lines," grateful that "sexperts"
have so kindly given them a
ready-made outline based on so-
called "scientific research." The
more astute among educators and
parents will recognize the Kinsey-
SIECUS-Planned Parenthood
philosophy of indiscriminate sex
based upon pseudo-scientific
opinions.
refusal skills as sexual
negotiation techniques
learned through role-playing
explicit conversations. SIECUS
shows no concern about offending
the majority of students or
undermining the natural modesty
of children.
SIECUS wants statewide commit-
tees to create state sex
curricula based on their 1991
"Guidelines." Labeling those with
traditional morals as "right
wingers" obstructing plans for
"comprehensive" sex ed in every
U.S. school, SIECUS offers
"assistance to communities in re-
sponding to opposition."

Peddlers of promiscuity promote pedophilia

Organizations of pedophiles are
lobbying for the legalization of
sex with children. The Guyon
Society, for example, has as its
motto, "Sex Before Eight or
Else It's Too Late." As early as
1972, the Gay Rights Platform
called for the repeal of all state
laws prohibiting private,
consenting sexual acts and repeal
of all age of sexual consent laws.
And so the sex revolution
continues to chip away at the last
"taboo"—child sexual activity.
It was Kinsey's supposedly
"scientific" work which
established the idea that
children had normal sexual
desire and gave justificat i o n
for the yet "closeted"
pedophilia movement.
Author John Leo, in Sept 7,
1981 Time Magazine stated:
"Some researchers openly argue
`anything goes' for children." He
named "anything goes" propo-
nents: Mary Calderone of
SIECUS, sexologist John Money
of Johns Hopkins, and Kinsey
coauthor, Wardell Pomeroy.
John Money, former
SIECUS board member, and
former professor of Medical
Psychology and Pediatrics at
John Hopkins,
is considered to be one of the
foremost U.S. sexologists. In an
interview with Journal of
Paedophilia, Money referred to
"affectional pedophilia" and
claimed that mutual
consenting sex between a 10-
year old boy and 30 year old
man, would not, in his opinion,
be pathological. (15p5)
Wardell Pomeroy claims that
"...incest need not be a perversion
...can sometimes be beneficial."

Pedophile involvement in
SIECUS/New York University
training programs for educators
and health professionals should be
a grave concern for parents and
educators with children in man-
dated sex/AIDS education pro-
grams. The "SlECUS/NYU Prin
ciples Basic to Education for
Sexuality" states that we need
to accept all degrees of
"heterosexuality, bisexuality, or
homosexuality"; that
"Children of all ages. have the
capacity to establish caring,
loving relationships with people
of all ages"; that "sensitive sex
education...should begin as
early as possible." (40pp 8-9)
Strategies for eliminating this
"last taboo" include making it
respectable by changing the
semantics. At the SSSS
(Society for the Scientific
Study of Sexuality) 31st
Annual Conference, Dr.
Sharon Satterfield stated that
pedophilia - a condition where
adults are sexually attracted
to prepubertal children —
may be a sexual orientation
rather than a sexual
deviation. She then raised
the question as to
whether pedophiles may have
rights. (6) It hardly takes a
doctorate degree to see that a
simple change in semantics
fails to change the nature of the
behavior.
A second strategy is to "sneak
it in." A 1981 Time magazine
article explains: "...most of the
researchers, doctors and
counselors who
believe it (Ed. children having a
sex life) have the wit to keep a low
profile and tuck the idea away
neatly in a longer, more conven-
tional speech or article. The sug-
gestion comes wrapped in the pi-
eties of feminism (children, like
women, have the right to control
their own bodies) and the
children's rights movement (chil-
dren have rights versus their
parents)."(28p45)
A third approach is to get to the
children early with the
homosexual agenda, through sex
education starting in
kindergarten, before they are
affected by social heterosexual
learning. Or befriend them from
positions of authority. A
NAMBLA (North American
Man/Boy Love Association)
supporter advises: "We find that
local boys will become friends
with you if you express an
interest in them. Treat them as
friends...gain their respect; then
there's more chance of
establishing a relationship that
has a sexual element to it." (23)
Dr. Judith Reisman raises the
serious issue of abuse by
pedophiles. She referred to a
Journal of Sex Research
statistic
that 31% of lesbians and 12% of
homosexual males reported be-
ing victims of forced sex by their
most recent partner. "You've
got a lot of angry people in these
groups and it's frightening to
think of this violence being vis-
ited on children...in a sexual
context."
Reisman also warned that
pedophiles would increasingly
seek young children free of AIDS
as "safe" partners. (14) Edgar
Richards of NAMBLA confirms
her worry: "If an adult has sex
with a child, the adult's possibility
of acquiring AIDS would be
greatly reduced, if not eliminated.
We should not fear the AIDS is-
sue. It. should be our strongest ar-
gument. Isn't it about time we
fought for our youth! The time to
go on the offensive has begun."

The Kinsey Connection

Kinsey, Sex, and Fraud
Alfred Kinsey
Mary Calderone describes
the division of duty between
the Kinsey Insitute and her or-
ganization: "...The great li-
brary collection of what is now
known as the Kinsey Institute
in Bloomington, Indiana, was
formed...with one major field
omitted: sex education. This
was because it seemed
appropriate...to its major
funding source, the National
Institute of Mental Health, to
leave this area for SIECUS to
fill....we were approved for a
highly important grant from
the Nat. Institute for Mental
Health that was designed...for
SIECUS to become the pri-
mary data base for the area of
education for sexuality." (41)
If Kinsey sexology is forming
the core of modern sex education
for our youth, it would seem ap-
propriate to examine its source.
F r o m 1 9 4 0 's th r o u g h th e
1950's Alfred Kinsey conducted
"scientific" investigation of hu-
man sexual behaviors. Collected
data on approximately 18,000
Americans was published in
"Sexual Behavior in the Human
Male" (1948) and "Sexual Be-
havior in the Human Female."
(1953) (44)
However, Kinsey's original re-
search has recently suffered a
"death blow." The British "Lan-
cet" medical journal states: "In
Kinsey, Sex and Fraud Dr. Judith A.
Reisman and her colleagues
demolish the foundations of the
two reports." The investigation
by Reisman and Edward Eichel
reveals several disturbing reali-
ties:
* False conclusions were
based on population samples not
representative of the American
population. Twenty-five percent
of the 5300 individuals Kinsey
used were prison inmates, some
jailed for sex offenses, and some
having homosexual experiences
while confined in prison. Kinsey
also admitted using "several
hundred male prostitutes," in
order to define "normal"
human sexual behavior and
conclude that 1 in 10 is
homosexual. Numerous
studies refute the 10%
figure, placing the figure at
1-3%.(28,12,17)

warned Kinsey of volunteer error
because persons with abnormal or
uninhibited behavior are more
prone to talk openly about pri-
vate matters. "When I warned
him about 'volunteer error,' he
disagreed with me and was sure
that his random selection would
be okay. So what we did was to
cook up a joint crucial test. I put
the heat on all my five classes at
Brooklyn College and made a
real effort to get them all to sign
up to be interviewed by Kinsey.
We had my dominance
test scores for all of them and
then Kinsey gave me the names
of the students who had
actually showed up for the
interviews. As I expected, the
volunteer error was proven and
the whole basis for Kinsey's
statistics was proven to be
shaky. But then he refused to
publish it and refused even to
mention it in his books, or to
mention anything else I had
written." (28p221.) In other
words, Kinsey knew his methods
were unscientific, but intention-
ally presented the data as if it
were accurate anyway — in
short, scientific fraud.
* The population of
interviewees did not match the
U.S. population as a whole. Out
of 5940 women interviewed,
3313 had never married, (58%)
which is three times the number
of unmarried women in general
U.S. population.(17) 64% of
sample were college educated
compared to 12% of U.S. popu-
lation.(12) 80% were nonreli-
gious. (12,17) Only 10 states
were represented in the sampling.
* Kinsey reported the use of
more than 300 children in sex
experiments. Boys as young as
two months old were manipu-
lated manually and orally for as
long as 24 hours, by self-avowed
pedophiles to achieve what
Kinsey researchers described as
"orgasms." (28p30) Kinsey de-
scribes reactions by "196 pre-
adolescent boys" who were
sexually stimulated by adults
with responses "timed with stop-
watch." These explicit descrip-
tions suggest coercion and
abuse, defining his work as ille-
gal, unethical and immoral.

Dr. Reisman sent a letter to the
Kinsey Institute asking how the
child experiments were done and
by whom. Director Paul Gebhard
replied on March 11, 1981:
"Some of these were parents,
mostly college educated, who
observed their children and kept
notes for us. A few were nursery
school owners or teachers. Oth-
ers were homosexual males in-
terested in older, but still prepu-
bertal, children. One was a man
who had numerous sexual con-
tacts with male and female in-
fants and children and, being of a
scientific bent, kept detailed
records of each encounter. Some
of these sources have added to
their written or verbal reports
photographs....The techniques
involved were self-masturbation
by the child, child-child sex play,
and adult-child contacts - chiefly
manual or oral." (28,10)
The Kinsey study, assumed to
be "scientific" has given
support to the pedophile and
homosexual movements.
Equally disturbing, is its influ-
ence on the sex education
movement, carried by SIECUS
into America's schools, gov-
ernment agencies, churches,
and volunteer organizations.
Professor Court expresses it
well: "...The sex education
movement, and particularly
teaching on AIDS and homo-
sexuality, has taken (Kinsey)
data as givens for the develop-
ment of a Kinseyan philosophy
of sexuality which seeks to
make any form of sexual ex-
pression both permissible and
possible."(9)
The Kinsey Institute continues
to sponsor, fund, conduct and
publish research from its offices
at Indiana University, claiming
to provide "factual" information
for the "sexual scientists and
practitioners" scattered across
the nation but who gather in con-
ferences to "share our construc-
tions of the meaning of our sexu-
ality." (44)
Is Kinseyan sex education
what we want for our children
and our culture? SIECUS in-
tends to persuade us that it is. In a
March 1990 publication "Sex
Education 2000" they have for-
mulated 13 goals to be engi-
neered to completion by the year
2000. (See "Sex Education 2000
page three of this report.") (11)

Kinsey's
"Grand Scheme"
The distillate of Kinsey philosophy
is that every type of sexual activity is
natural and thus normal, and should
begin as early in life as possible."
(28p117)
He created what was called the "Kinsey
Scale" on which he placed bisexuality
in the center, indicating that all sexual
choices are equally good and that no one
is truly heterosexual. (Male rep o r t 6 3 9

claimed there was no such thing as
sexual perversion and considered adult
relations with children as a normal
sexual activity. (28p204)
"Kinsey conjectured that if children
could learn elaborate enough
masturbation techniques—preferably
from experienced adults—the
'incidental' ...type of sexual
exploration that is common among
adolescents could be turned into a
truly homosexual experience." (28p42)
" Hence, the blatant advocacy of
masturbation in current K-12 AIDS
curricula, (including the Oregon AIDS
curriculum) being generated from the
Kinsey-SIECUS-Homosexual camp.
Gagnon and Pomeroy work for Kinsey and SIECUS
We find a very strong tie between Kinsey Institute and SIECUS in the persons of John Gagnon and Wardell Pomeroy. Gagnon, a SIECUS
official, was a research sociologist at Kinsey Institute for over 15 years. Pomeroy has been a prominent director and recommended au-
thor of SIECUS. Pomeroy was a chief investigator for Alfred Kinsey, recording 8500 of the 17,000 sex histories for books he co-
authored with Kinsey. (39) Mr. Pomeroy, a biographer of Kinsey, claimed that Kinsey hired him because he "...had not picked up all the
taboos...inhibitions...guilts...that his colleagues had..." (28p145) Pomeroy later served as Dean of Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexual-
ity in San Francisco,(39) and on the SSSS committee to establish accreditation standards for college degree courses in human sexuality.(28p120)
He was included on the staff of the explicit Sexology magazine.(8p32) In 1983 he opposed the physician-recommended closure of San Francisco
bathhouses to prevent AIDS spread.(28p145) Pomeroy, a proponent of incest and bestiality, has authored the books "Boys and Sex" and "Girls
and Sex" found on Planned Parenthood booklists.(28pp112,225,70-73,175)
In 1969 the Kinsey Institute was conducting a comprehensive study of homosexuality, funded by $375,000 grant from NIMH (National Institute
on Mental Health. Humanist Alan P. Bell of SIECUS was principal investigator for the study. (8p285)
The effort to denormalize het-
erosexuality and normalize ho-
mosexuality continues to this
day. Dr. Richard Green, a gay ac-
tivist and past President of the
SSSS, told Jane Brody of The
New York Times, that if anal in-
tercourse can be shown to be
practiced more by heterosexuals
than by homosexuals, then pros-
ecuting gays for sodomy would
be discriminatory. So the effort
to attribute anal sex to hetero-
sexuals further denormalizes
sexual intercourse — part of the
broader scheme to denormalize
heterosexuality. (28pp200-1)
Therefore, parents who object to
"multiple partner," "oral sex"
"anal sex," "masturbation," lan-
guage in current AIDS education
programs, have a legitimate con-
cern. Add to this the fact that
pedophiles are crouched on the
sidelines ready to pounce when-
ever sodomy laws can be further
weakened. And lest we forget,
anal intercourse is the number
one highest risk behavior for
spreading AIDS.
Wardell Pomeroy, a chief in-
vestigator with Kinsey, called it
Kinsey's "Grand Scheme." Its
development has been acceler-
ated by the AIDS epidemic and
resulting rush to educate chil-
dren, even at the lowest grade
levels, in "the facts" of human
sexuality — a perfect situation
for widespread dissemination of
the original Kinsey philosophy
— the ideology of indiscriminate
sex. (28p118)

your educators list them as re-
source organizations in AIDS
curricula for our children.
Under the guise of wanting to
solve the problems you have cre-
ated, y ou continue to beg for
public and corporate money to
escalate sex education to preach
that free, promiscuous, unre-
strained sex for personal plea-
sure — at any age, with any gen-
der, and in any manner — is not
only acceptable but a "healthy
alternative." Balderdash!

M. when she shares: "The Lord
has blessed me with the perfect
husband for me. He is so sup-
portive of my ministry of sharing
with groups all over the country

"Sex Education 2000" by
SIECUS declares: "Parents are
the primary sex educators of
their children." SIECUS further
claims they want K-12 compre-
hensive sex education in school
to "complement" what children
learn at home.
These claims appear to be
90% lip service. Wise parents
will discern what SIECUS
knows: 1. SIECUS intends to
continue the aggressive engi-
neering of the sexual revolution.
2. Traditional-thinking parents
stand as obstacles to behavior/at-
titude change in the new genera-
tion. 3. SIECUS beliefs do not
"complement" but rather "con-
tradict" teachings of most homes
and churches.
Therefore, SIECUS also pub-
lishes a booklet entitled, "Winning
the Battle" (c. March 1991) which
devotes 12 of 58 pages to
"responding to the opposition" —
namely, parents and organized
citizen groups who care enough to
question programs and demand
that their children receive the
best in moral teaching. This
booklet names the following
national organizations as
"opposed to sexuality and HIV/
AIDS education." In fact, these
groups favor traditional family life
education, but strongly oppose
SIECUS-style propaganda.

19) Authors continue their pa,
tronizing attitude: "Listen to
them and let them
participate...then make com-
mittee statements using facts
and data, underscoring the
majority opinion."
Proponents are advised to re-
spond to parental objections by
saying, "That's not what we're
teaching. This is what we are
teaching" — framing the opposi-
tion to appear inaccurate, simply
by playing games of semantics.
(p.23) Further, it is suggested
that one way to deal with oppo-
nents of SIECUS sex ed is to de-
termine their religious affiliation
and publicize it in order to stig-
matize them. (p. 17)
Suggested strategy departs
from fairness when authors sug-
gest bringing in an outside "ex-
pert" for media appearances. (p.
24) But in the local meetings,
"only parents with children in the
school...be permitted to speak."
(p. 26)
In conclusion, Ms. Haffner
and Mauro state a "guiding prin-
ciple": "The community has the
right to decide what kind of
sexuality and HIV/AIDS educa-
tion program their children
should have." (p. 27) In several
previous pages, they had just ex-
pressed biased opposition to
both Teen Aid and Sex Respect
programs valued by their opposi-
tion. And on p. 28, after pretending
"community choice" they conclude:
"By the year 2000, all children and
youth in the United States WILL
receive comprehensive sexuality
and HIV/AIDS education." (e.g.
meaning sex ed SIECUS-style)
Our response? Don't be too
sure of that. A growing number of
parents and moral guardians of our
society are ready to insist that
formal sex education programs be
deleted or teach moral family-

Betrayed

Set into the midst of an urban
Negev, the school banked up to
an old weather-stained overpass
in a grimy tangle of narrow
streets and alleyways. It was a
preposterous oasis of quiet, sur-
rounded by the garish cacophony
of the inner city....
Four successive generations
had sent their children through
that ill-tempered neighborhood,
around the turn, up the drive,
past the flagpole, and into the
s c h o o l to le a r n . Ca th e r in e
Toleson reflected on that long
unbroken lineage as she stood at
her locker between classes. The
crowded halls reverberated with
the wheedling jive of the
eighties. But it smelled of
powerful floor wax and
disinfectant - the age-old smell
of tradition. And there were
inscriptions scratched into the
small metal door of the locker
that several layers of repainting
...had failed to erase....Catherine
had always before felt that she
was participating in a sacred and
undisturbed continuity when she
heard those sounds, smelled
those smells, and saw those
sights. It was as if she had been
in the topmost branches of the
deeply planted tree of
time....knowing that ...forbearers
had walked the same dim and
dingy halls she did, that they had
sat in the same marred 'and
wobbly desks, and that they had
stared out the same tall, double-
glazed windows, had given her a
sense of security and stability.
But that was before.
Now, Catherine was terribly
unsettled. She was confused.
....She felt isolated and alone.
...she had been torn from the free
and easy continuum she had
known.
Second period on Tuesdays
and Thursdays was her "Health"
class....This week, a representa-
tive from Planned Parenthood
had come to talk about sex, con-
traception, pregnancy, and abor-
tion.
"I was shocked," Catherine
told me later. "Not by the facts of
life, but by the way those facts
were presented. My parents had
already had plenty of discussions
with me about the birds and bees
stuff. I figured I knew just about
all a fifteen-year-old should need
to know.''....
"The woman from Planned
Parenthood was so sleek and
sophisticated...She was beautiful
and soft-spoken. Her clothes
were gorgeous...When she
walked in, whe had our attention
immediately--I mean, she was
so confident and assured and re-
laxed, the whole class just fell
under her spell."
With her disarming presence,
she stripped away the young-
sters' inhibitions. Sitting on the
edge of the teacher's desk, she
joked, kidded, winked, and ban-
died with them.
"At first, I couldn't tell where
all this was leading," Catherine
said. "But then it became really
obvious. She started asking
us...very personal questions.
Like about our feelings. About
sex. And even about...well,
about...masturbation! It was so
disgusting. All the boys were
kinda giggling. But you could
tell, even they were embar-
rassed."
....the speaker didn't stop with
mere titillating and perverse con-
versation. She pulled a stained
and mottled screen down over
the old dusty blackboard, closed
the long-tattered shades over the
windows, turned off the bright,
humming fluorescent lights, and
put a short film on the school's
wheezing, rattling projector.
"I've never seen pornography
before," Catherine admitted.
"But this film was worse than
what I could have ever imagined
hard-core pornography to be."

explict. An unashamedly brash
couple fondled each other in
preparation for intercourse. At
appropriately prurient moments
of interest, the camera zoomed in
for close-up shots - sweaty
body parts rubbing, caressing,
kissing, stroking, clasping, pet-
ting, and embracing. At the
height of passion, the camera
fixed on the woman's hands,
trembling with ecstasy, as she
tore open a condom package and
began to slowly unroll its con-
tents onto her partner.
"I wanted to look away or
cover my eyes, but I couldn't,"
Catherine said. "I just stared at
the screen - in horror."
When the lights came back on,
the entire class was visibly
shaken. With eyes as wide as
saucers, the youngsters sat
speechless....But their guest was
entirely unperturbed.
"....She said that the couple
obviously had a caring, loving,
and responsible relationship -
because they took proper precau-
tions against conception and dis-
ease."
At that, the speaker passed
several packages of condoms
around the room - one for each
of the girls. She instructed the
boys to hold up a finger so that
the girls could practice contra-
ceptive application.
Already shell-shocked, the stu-
dents did as they were told.
Afterwards, several of the girls
began quietly sobbing, another
ran out of the room and threw
up, still another fainted. Merci-
fully, the class ended just a mo-
ment later.
"I have never been more hu-
miliated in all my life,"
Catherine said. "I felt dirty and
defiled after seeing the film. But
then, when I had to put that thing
on Billy's finger - well, that was
just awful. It was horrible. It was
like I'd been raped. Raped in my
mind. Raped by my school.
Raped by Planned Parenthood. I
think I was - that we all have
been - betrayed.

Oregon Administrative Rules Chapter 581
Exemptions 581-22-415
(1) The school district may excuse students from a state required program or learning activity, where
necessary, to accommodate students' handicaps or religious beliefs.
(2) The district school board may approve and grant credit to a student for an alternative to a state-
required program or learning activity:
(a) Approval of the alternative shall be based upon and shall include:
(A) A written statement from the student and the student's parent or guardian of the anticipated
educational advantages which will result from the alternative.
(B) An evaluation of the request by appropriate school personnel (the alternative should be consistent
with the student's educational progress and career goals as described in OAR 581-22-602 and 581-
22-702), and
(C) Other information as requested by the school district board.
(b) Following approval by the district school board at one of its scheduled meetings, and upon
completion of the alternative, credit shall be granted to the student.
