Subject: Letting Go

Often people want to give Jesus care of their lives but want to keep
control. There are five things which keep us from letting go and giving
God control.

1. Pride
2. Guilt
3. Fear
4. Worry
5. Doubt

How do you let go?

1. Accept Jesus as your savior

2. Accept God’s word as standard
3. Accept God’s will as your purpose
4. Accept God’s power as your strength

Subject: Obey God

I. God allows us to talk to Him.

II. God answers.
III. The Lord gives answer.

When God speaks and we listen, we obey.

Subject: What Kind of Faith Do We Have?

In order to fulfill God’s promise there are some things and people we
must leave behind.
When God has a calling on your life you become a prime target for
Satan. But in the midst of the trials and temptations we prove to have
one of three kinds of faith.

I. An unknown faith
a. Faith in things and people
II. A Christian Faith
a. Rough seas may lead to nervousness. But we must have
faith to say, “Lord help I’m in a storm.”
III. Extraordinary Faith
a. When rough seas come instead of nervousness and the
panicky attitude of ‘Lord I’m in a storm’ we should say
“Thank you Lord although I am in a storm.”

Our contact with Jesus can still make us whole regardless of the type of
faith we have and in the process of getting it right, stop and say thank
you. Don’t just have ordinary faith, add a little EXTRA to it for an
extraordinary faith.

Subject: The Church Living In Peace

Try to live in peace with everybody.

I. You can’t have peace with a self-first attitude.

a. Don’t let your attitude be the reason for turmoil in the
church.
b. We need to remember to share.
II. Don’t let surface issues destroy the peace in your church.
a. Pride automatically results in conflict.

Subject: Waiting on God is Worth the Wait

Waiting on God’s timing is one of the most valuable lessons we will

learn. At times the wait for answers to prayers seems to go on forever
and ever, but however long the wait, God always comes through in the
end. Your calling is to wait on God. Waiting is essential walking in the
obedience of God and receiving God’s blessing.

I. Learning the act of waiting.

i. It doesn’t mean being stagnant or idol.
ii. Psalms 37: Delight yourself in the Lord also and He
will give you the desires of your heart. While you are
waiting stay prayed up.
II. Waiting on the Lord should be marked by silence.
i. Many times we wait but complain about waiting.
ii. If you wait God will strengthen you through the
waiting God wants you to learn how to wait.

Subject: How to resist Satan’s Temptation

Satan is not haphazardly wondering around basking out temptations.

Satan has a plan.

I. We need to understand Satan’s strategy.

a. Satan’s short range goal in temptation is to get us to be
satisfied.
b. When you have a craving for something, Satan comes in
when he shows us a satisfaction that is not pleasing to
God.
c. Our desire for excessive food and for premarital or
adulterated sex is of the devil. There is nothing wrong with
eating but Satan may make you think you have to overeat.
d. Every temptation is simply an alternative to meeting God-
given needs and desires in a God-given way.

Subject: Lay Aside Every Weight

Be not weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint
not. Athletes lay aside weights and hindrances that prevent them from
achieving success. As children of God we too must lay aside weights
that will prevent us from achieving the kingdom of God.

I. We must lay aside the weight of spiritual immaturity and

ignorance.
a. In Luke 2:52, even Jesus in increased in wisdom and statute
to gain favor with God.
II. We must lay aside the weight of self-righteousness and self-
satisfaction.
a. Self-righteousness is a tragedy. Blessed are the poor in
spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3). We
must not permit ourselves to be self-centered individuals.
III. We must lay aside the weight of undue worry and care
(anxiety).
a. These are due to a lack of faith. If we worry about the
failures of yesterday and the uncertainty of tomorrow it
prevents us from completing the work of today. You should
pray and leave it in God’s hands.

Subject: The Foolish Person

Jesus told a Story of a foolish person. The problem was he missed the
real meaning of life. People today pursue goals and the good things of
life but miss the real meaning of life.

A few times a person can act foolish in life is:

I. When material things take priority over spiritual things.

a. The farmer was devoted to filling barns and building bigger
barns.
II. When self matters more than others.
a. The man that threw his four children from the DIP bridge
was selfish.
b. The farmer who devoted his life to himself was behaving
selfishly. In the mind of the farmer the world existed for
him. He never thought about what he had could help
somebody else.
c. Me-ism is a destructive attitude. The real essence of sin is
when we want to do things our way.
III. When we think today is more important than tomorrow.
IV. When life is planned without God.

We all do foolish things. These things have serious consequences.

Jesus is in the storm with you. He is our anchor of hope.

Subject: What to do in tough times

I. Trials have a godly purpose. Nothing happens in your life

without passing through the hands of God. He allows us to be
tested with tough times.
II. We need to pray and ask God for help.
a. Ask God first! Life is not a game. Go to God with a sincere
heart. Without God you have no power.
III. To make it thorough, you must have total faith in God.
a. Job lost everything he had but he had faith in God. He
eventually got everything back.
IV. We must learn to keep our eyes fixed on the goals ahead.
a. Don’t look around. Look up. Stay focused. Keep looking up.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
V. Life is full of difficulties and temptations. Hard times make you
grow. It teaches patience.

Subject: Revive the Family Altar

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. How can we make
our family better? Stronger?

I. We need to find some time where we can spend time together

as a family.
II. We need to have a place where we as a family can come
together to sit at the feet of Jesus. The Family Altar can be a
place of sharing and growing spiritually.
III. Prayer is the greatest gift one can give to oneself and family.
IV. The distance between success and failure is the time it takes
for you to fall on your knees in life.
V. Bring back the family altar by bringing prayer into the family.
VI. Don’t let the family altar die even if Joshua in your household
is a Ms. Joshua. Go to the Lord on behalf of your family even if
you have to go alone.

Subject: Three Scoops of Faith

Faith is turning “it” completely over to God.

I. You must have faith enough to seek and ask.

II. We must believe Jesus can help and that He has the power to
do it.

III. Believe that He will help.

Subject: Your Road to Victory

The road that leads to a liberated life requires switching lanes form the
road that leads to bondage. It requires choosing what you want and
working to get it.

I. The road to victory requires you to change masters.

a. Deny yourself the things in this life that causes us to serve
other idols.
II. The road to victory requires that you know your master.
a. You must find time to build a relationship with Jesus. You
must respect what you are trying to possess. Seek God
with your whole heart.
III. The road to victory requires that you eat of the tree of life.
a. Jesus is the life you must hunger for. Blessed is the man
who trust in Him. The life with Jesus brings peace,
understanding, joy and happiness. When you taste and
see, it leads to a righteous and holy life.

Subject: Sowing Kingdom Seeds

Jesus was sowing seeds. What causes the heart of man to become so
hard that the word of God will not grow there?
Prejudice, pride, and tradition

The gospel affects both the will and the intellect. We must embrace the
gospel to have a
true relationship with Jesus Christ.

Emotions (being driven by them) will not hold you these days.

Some fell among the weeds. But the weeds outgrew them. Weeds can
choke out true believers.

Go on sowing seeds of the gospel. You aren’t working for victory but
rather from the victory. It isn’t a wasted time or effort. Rest assured
some of your seeds will fall on good ground.

Subject: The Cure for Anxiety?...Trust in the Father’s care.

Anxiety Is a very common word in our vocabulary. Symptoms of

anxiety include excessive worry, tension, restlessness, and inability to
relax. Sometimes it is hard to just sit and relax. Many times its related
to finances or relationships. People who suffer from anxiety sometimes
feel guilty because of a lack of faith. People who suffer with anxiety are
different but not deficient.

I. Understand that we as Christians are not immune from life’s

difficulties.
a. Trust in the Father’s care when anxiety comes. Don’t worry.
Jesus was deeply concerned about people having the
necessities of life.
b. V. 23 If you live for Him he will give you what you need.
II. The focus of our lives. Don’t be distracted.
a. What are our ultimate values? Don’t put your trust in
things. The purpose driven life—references fear,
materialism, the need for approval as some of the focuses
in our lives. Where is your focus? Know where your center
is located.
III. We stand before the great impossibility. NO man can serve
two masters.
a. Many of us are pulled or pushed one way or another. We
need to learn where our center is.
b. Jesus you are the center of my joy. We all need to know
where our center is and recognize your primary focus.
c. We are to have one master in our lives and He is that
master!

Subject: Whose Church Is It?

Church signs say a lot about the church it speaks of. It tells whose
church is meeting. But more than a sign is needed to tell whose church
it really is. Whose church is it?

I. It’s our Lord’s church.

a. His church is a mission.
b. We belong to most distinct organism in the world.
II. It’s our church.
a. Have you found satisfaction in being a part of Christ’s
church?
b. The church is a place of discovery.
i. You discover Christ.
ii. You discover your best friend.
iii. You discover yourself.
c. What you need most in this life…you can find it in the
church.
III. It’s their church.
a. Those on the outside…Jesus died for everyone. That’s
where mission work comes in. We must let them know that
it is their church also.

Our purpose is to recognize Christ in a dying and dark world.

Subject: We Still Got Work To Do!

Today we live in chaotic times. (Referenced: The Predicament of

Modern Man by Trublood)

The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. It was like that in
biblical days and it is like that today.

We need to examine whether we are doing “Church work” or “The work

of the Church”. Church work is, for example, going to a church
meeting. The work of the church is going out and helping the needy.

How must we go about doing the work of the church? You must work
according to God’s plan.
I. You must be concerned for your local and entire kingdom plan.
a. Go unto all the world. Jesus came for all.
II. You must have or know the kingdom purpose.
a. You have been endowed with a gift and you must be used
to vocalize God’s plan.
b. You don’t have time for small conversation with small-
minded folk.
III. You must work by kingdom precepts.
a. We live in a show me time. Your walk must match your talk.
b. “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your
path.”
You’ve got work to do!

Text: Micah 5:14 (verses 10-15)

Subject: What God throws away

What practices do we need to purge our lives of?

I. Objects that destroy their trust in the Lord.

a. Judah increased in their military strength. But they needed
to trust in the Lord and in Him alone. People who build their
hope on anything but the Lord will eventually find
themselves collapsing and eroding away.
II. Seeking guidance from anyone other that God
a. They practiced witchcraft and soothsaying. They were
getting information from other sources.
b. For example, Adam and Eve failed for Satan’s lies they ate
the apple. God does not want his people to be involved
with witchcraft and sorcery.
III. Idols that take the place of God.
a. The people of Judah were worshipping idols of wood and
stone.
b. Idols are not outdated. Attempting to worship the work of
our own hands is prevalent today as it was in Bible days.
These days its ourselves instead of houses, cars and
clothes as in days past.

Subject: The Lord is My Sheppard

Life lessons: Read the instructions. Apologize when necessary, listen at

times, be patient. Give it to God instead of trying to fix it yourself. God
is the Sheppard.

Isaiah says we are like sheep gone astray. You wouldn’t think sheep
would be so stubborn. Sheep are dumb and defenseless. Who wants to
be lamb? David wanted to find an illustration of God. He thought of the
sheep. The Lord cars for us the way a Sheppard cares for His sheep.
Are you successful in self-reliance?
I. You can control your moods?
II. You are at peace with everyone including yourself?
III. You have no fear or no faults?
You could use a Sheppard if these don’t describe you. The Lord is my
Sheppard.
What does a good Sheppard do? A good Sheppard:
I. He shares his life with you, his peace, and his provision.
II. He gives his life for you
III. He restores (puts his life into you.)
