1967 году Фредом Килгуром[2]. База создаётся совместными усилиями более чем 72 тыс.
библиотек из 170 стран мира[3] в рамках организации OCLC.
С августа 2006 года стал возможен свободный доступ к поиску по этой БД с веб-
страницы worldcat.org.
