Triratna yang bermakna tiga permata adalah tiga buah pengakuan dari setiap penganut agama Buddha, seperti

halnya dengan credo di dalam agama Kristen atau syahadat di dalam agama Islam

Tiga Pengakuan di dalam agama Buddha itu berbunyi:

(1). Buddham saranam gacchami
(2). Dhamman saranam gacchami
(3). Sangham  saranam dacchami
Bermakna:
(1)   Saya berlindung di dalam Buddha
(2)   Saya berlindung di dalam Dhamma
(3)   Saya berlindung di dalam Sangha

kalinya. Pada kali yang ketiga diawali dengan Tatiyam, yang bermakna: buat ketiga kalinya
