LIU
-an architect by profession, is an entrepreneur at heart with a dream and a vision.
-graduated in University of San Carlos (Cebu, Philippines) and has earned a post-graduate
diploma from the owner/president management program of the Harvard Business School
(Boston, Massachusetts).
-married to Alice Tio with whom has three children, a firm believer of the dictum “pray hard,
work hard and play hard”.
-1986, right after the People Power Revolution, Bernie together with close friends from
college and supported by his family who were then garments manufacturers,
conceptualized, produced and marketed an initial product line of one-sized T-Shirts with
catchy prints-all targeted at the youth market.
-chief executive officer of the anchor brand of Golden ABC Inc.

-is a multi-awarded international fashion enterprise that is home to top proprietor brands
shaping the retail industry today.
-produced, marketed, and retailed under a fast-growing, dynamic family of well-

MEMO (2010), REGATTA, and TYLER, it also operates RED LOGO.

-“pen” was an ubiquitous tool for students
Ubiquitous- seeming to be seen everywhere
-“shoppe” was then added to symbolize the work that students did.
-In March, 1986 it was officially launched at Cebu

- opened the very first stand alone boutique in SM City North Edsa. It has been expanded
nationwide and has several branches overseas.

2014
- Penshoppe was recognize as the global retailer of the year
2015
-opened penshoppe at SM Seaside City Cebu with more than 800 square meters to showcase
their products

2017
-Penshoppe was awarded as the contry winner of the best marketing campaign award by the
federation of Asia Pacific Retailers Association

2019
-Penshoppe is go-to fashion brand for the youth. It is the leading international casual wear
brand worn by some of the world’s top models and biggest celebrities.

Industry in 2002.

DIGITAL INNOVATION
Golden ABC also made substantial investments in technology as part of its goal of
operational excellence. Liu said his company’s partnership with PLDT and SMART spans decades,
adding that digital innovations change how business is conducted and allowed Golden ABC to work
faster and better.
