1.0 OBJECTIVE

Objective is to outline the guidelines by which plastering are carried out.

2.0 SCOPE

This work instruction shall be carried out by the site personnel and shall
apply for all plastering work at the project site.

5.0 MATERIALS

Type and classification of material shall comply with project specification.


Plaster finish using Lafarge Quick Skim 388 (Refer Attachment 1).

6.0 HANDLING AND STORAGE OF MATERIAL

Transportation of material shall be by lorry or trailer and unloading by


mobile crane. Normally the materials used are sand, cement and
approved plasticizer.

7.0 PLANT, MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT

Wood Trowels (1.8m length) maximum, spirit levels, Laser level indicator,
spatula, plum bob, mini mixer and spade/construction pail.

8.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

8.1 PREPARATORY WORK

a. Obtain the relevant approved construction drawing from


consultants.
b. Ensure all the materials placed on site before works commence
c. The level peg is set on every 1.5m maximum. If the wall length is
less than 1.5m, the interval peg shall suit to the wall length.
d. Check the wall verticality / plumpness. Make correction if
necessary
e. Provide Exmet for interface area between concrete and brick
f. Determine the mortar mix ration as per specifications.
g. Install the corner beads to wall and groove line as per indicated
in drawing.

8.2 PLASTERING

a. All concrete surfaces shall be roughened to provide keys to


accept plastering works.
b. All bricks surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned before
commencement of plastering works.
c. Corner beads sample to be submitted for architect’s approval.
d. Provide scaffolding and safety barrier for external plastering.
Provide scaffolding stage for internal plastering.
e. Pegging, alignment must be checked and done prior to
application
f. The first layer of undercoat with a thickness of 12-25mm shall be
applied to all the surfaces in accordance to the drawing. Spray
water, if deemed necessary, to prevent it from drying too quickly.
g. The second coat of plaster shall be applied after the undercoat
has set. The finished layer shall be laid to a smooth finish to a
total thickness of 6-10mm.
h. The maximum plastering thickness shall not be more than 25mm
thick (Refer Attachment 2).
i. Upon completion, clear all debris and provide adequate
protection to the completed works.

8.3 Post Plastering


a. Carry out joint inspection with COW representative on plastering
wall completed and obtain acceptance as per inspection. Use
plastering inspection check list.

b. Plastering that are rejected to be hacked off and re-plaster so


that maximum thickness does not go over the control thickness.

9.0 SAFETY MEASURES

a. Erection of scaffolding / tower scaffold if necessary for a higher working


area is required. All scaffolding / tower scaffold will be inspected and
tagging verified by safety personnel prior of usage.
b. All workers must be briefed on safety procedure prior of start work. All
workers must be equipped with necessary PPE e.g. safety helmet, safety
shoe, safety belt and others.
c. Provide necessary lighting for night work, barricade at work place to
restrict unauthorized entry.
