underpressureswimblog@gmail.com FADE IN: HELLO, WELCOME TO UNDER PRESSURE SWIM BLOG. TODAY WE WILL BE DIVING INTO SPRINTS.
Even though sprints are not considered a drill, they are
extremely important in any kind of training, especially that of Kaatsu. Once the Kaatsu bands are placed on your upper arms, you are ready to begin the sprint. Using Kaatsu bands for sprints are extremely helpful, considering that these bands help your muscles strengthen and help them gain muscle memory. The sprint examples you will be seeing are those of swimmers you did wall starts, not dives. If you would like to challenge yourself with these sprints, you may also choose to place a restriction band or bungee around your waist. INCORRECTLY
Ways swimmers do this drill incorrectly is
by not trying on the sprints or when their muscles start to get sore, they compensate by trying to go an easier way out that damages their stroke technique. Doing something incorrect with your stroke technique could potentially stay that way with how the bands relate to muscle memory. CORRECTLY
The correct way of doing this drill, is by
trying on the sprints. Don't take any easy way outs and push through the soreness and tiredness. Keeping you stroke the same or even improving it with the Kaatsu bands on are also highly advised.
