STATEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL PLANS & GOALS

635 Words

“A man’s reach should exceed his grasp, or what’s a heaven for?” are Robert Browning’s
words that I have imbibed in my daily life since childhood, always setting goals, and on
achieving them, setting newer, bigger ones for the future. The MBA degree has been one
such aspiration of mine that I have worked towards meticulously, and now feel am well within
striking distance. All business today is global. With increasing global representation, there is
a greater need for effective global managers. I see myself as such a global manager who
does more than collaborate with his colleagues who are down the hall and I see myself as
one who interacts with my international business associates.

During the course of the past five years I have had the opportunity to interact with some of
the most qualified management professionals from the industry and it was this interaction
that made me realize how valuable a professional management degree would add to my
personal and career. Since then, I have been singularly focused and working towards
pursuing the MBA degree. The main thing an MBA would do is give me new options. Right
now I feel I’m running out of new options. It is one of the prices of achieving the goals you
set for yourself. I believe that a structured classroom experience combined with interaction
and exposure to faculty, companies and fellow students at a global scale will be
tremendously beneficial to me. I hope to successfully integrate my own experiences, while
expanding my knowledge to more diverse and wider perspective.

My previous academic pursuit being in an Engineering field, I feel I have lost out on the
classroom experience and the formal education in the subject of business studies. However,
my studies has inculcated in me a discipline and a demand for precision and perfection and
developed a more analytical, scientific and methodical approach to work and life. This I find a
great advantage, and largely absent in my fellow business associates with a business
degree. I think, with my ability to handle exigencies, an aptitude for business and my diverse
work experiences, the MBA degree will help cumulate all this together and provide the
academic foundation and knowledge that I lack. This will expedite the process of achieving
greater success in the expansion of my business and the development of new and more
efficient techniques in today’s competitive market scenario. After receiving my MBA degree I
would like to work for a year in a multinational company as part of my practical training to
gain real work experience in the United States before I return to India and put all that
knowledge, acumen and experience to use in expanding my own career and business.

I feel (Name of the University) is the right choice for me as it is reputed for its excellent
academic instruction as well as the personal attention given to its students. Furthermore
exposure to some of the biggest corporate companies is exactly what I feel suits my
requirements. I am convinced that at (Name of the University) I would get the opportunity to
learn not only from a highly accomplished faculty but from an interaction with a global
fraternity of students as well. I intend to make the most of such an invaluable experience and
share my own experiences with them. I feel that with my extensive work experiences I do
have a lot to contribute in terms of situations, conditions of work and the varied nature of my
work over the past 5 years will be extremely informative, culturally diverse and interesting to
my peers. I hope that studying at (Name of the University) will provide me with opportunities
that will truly widen my horizons and become stepping-stones to a long, bigger and brighter
future in the business world.
