Video analysis: based on the video “Living Off the Land in Hawaii”, summarize it
in 5 ideas written with your own words, include your personal opinion. (10 points)

1. Currently, Hawaii imports approximately 90% of the food that is consumed by its
population, but in the past it was not, the populations were sustainable because
they had a system called ahupua'a, where by delimiting the lands, the people
who they lived in the mountains, they were in charge of extracting the fruits and
vegetables that were needed and those that lived by the fishing shores, in this
way they carried out an exchange of food.
2. Kimmi says that civilization is very fragile, for this reason she does not
understand how people can currently consider applying the system that existed
previously and teaching the population how to obtain water and food from nature.
becomes primitive. Especially in Hawaii, where if at any time something happens
with the port that connects them with the rest of the world and where they get
their food, since this island only has supplies for approximately 10 days.
3. Imports are necessary in an economy, especially in those countries that do not
have sufficient natural resources to supply their population, but it is also true that
having too high a percentage of imports, especially food, generates large risks
that in the future could affect the food supply of the population, if at some point it
is not economically possible to cover the costs.
4. For the countries, especially those that are not very developed, it is of great
importance that their population tries to be sustainable according to the natural
resources it possesses, thus helping to reduce food imports. But it is also true
that you must find a responsible way to extract the resources of nature and also
preserve nature, as is the case in Hawaii, where having species that are not
native there, is endangering your ecosystem.
5. Artisanal fishing, is a work that is observed not only in Hawaii, but in many other
parts of the world, this fishing is more friendly to the environment than large-scale
fishing carried out by the industries, likewise this work is developed by people
who in most cases carry it out to bring food to their home and not as a business,
which in the future would cause food shortages due to non-importation, resulting
in shortages.

Composition: Write a paragraph describing the picture, 15 lines, include

connectors, use preset simple present continuous. (10 points)

In the image you can see nine people of different ages and aspects carrying out
different activities, in the left part of the image you will find: A girl who has a pink shirt
and is lying in the tree, She usually reads in the park, like the gentleman with the
white beard, who always sits in the park chair reading a book, on the other hand it is
observed that a mother is accompanying her son to take a bike ride through the park
and on the other hand in the middle of the picture you can see a dad who is walking
with his son in the car, while the child appreciates nature. On the left side, near the
pond with the ducks, you see a girl in the green dress and black hair who is climbing
one of the trees in the park, usually she chooses the ones with the largest number of
branches, because, these help her climb faster, the lady in yellow jacket every day
feeds the ducks on the pond, because, to get to his work always passes there, finally
a tourist in a blue jacket is taking pictures of the ducks in the pond. On the other
hand you can see that the image in large part has the color green and over comes
the color blue by the pond. Of the nine people in the picture, four are children or
young people and five are adults.
