sion. NOTE: Be sure to thoroughly flush your VAC system
before processing a different oil type.
The diagram on page 24 is a schematic drawing of how
the system operates. The fluid is drawn into the unit
and heated. It then flows through permanent dispersion
media that is located inside the vacuum tower.

The contaminated oil flows through the surfaces of this

media where it is exposed to a vacuum, normally < 26"
Hg (660 mm Hg). Water is boiled off and the fluid is de-
hydrated. An outlet pump removes the dry oil from the
bottom of the vacuum chamber and then the oil passes
through the particulate filter housing.

Oil Filter Element

The outlet filter is equipped with a differential pressure
indicatior to alert the user when the element needs to
be changed. This indicator is calibrated to 40 psid, and
at this pressure differential, the Change Filter indicator
will illuminate. Change filter as directed with the pro-
vided instructions.

Vacuum Tower Air Inlet Breather

Metered outside air is used to control the vacuum pres-
sure inside the vacuum chamber. This air is cleaned
using a non-desiccant breather to remove particulate
from the air as it enters the vacuum chamber. The ele-
ment can be plugged within a very short period of time
if large amounts of air-borne contaminants are present.
Under normal operating conditions and continuous op-
eration, the air breather element will last 3 to 5 months
It is recommended that the breather be changed at
least every 6 months.

Rotary Claw Vacuum Pump

The vacuum pump uses oil to lubricate the gears during
operation. This oil can be seen from the oil sight plug lo-
cated on the side of the pump. The oil level should be at

A hose diameter equal to inlet/outlet port size (see
specifications) is required to provide adequate oil
supply to this unit.
NOTE: Use of a smaller diameter line will restrict
the flow and will adversely affect the automatic
operation of the unit.
The inlet/outlet connections have been sized for
maximum hose lengths of 35 feet. Use of longer
hose lengths must be approved prior to installation.
Use of a “quick disconnect” on the inlet line is not
recommended. This can restrict flow to the unit in
specific applications. Oil is drawn into the unit by a
vacuum created by the system and is capable of
pulling oil with up to 8 ft (2.4m) of negative head.
For applications that exceed this, please consult
Des-Case.

NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN THE CANISTER LID.
8. Reinstall plugs in the correct ports.
9. Re-start the machine to vent the canister. After
venting the canister, close the vent port.

Filter Replacement
This machine is equipped with Differential Pressure
Gauges and Change Filter Indicator lights to help the
operator determine when the particle filter element
needs replaced. The pressures on these gauges will
vary with the oil being processed and reads 0-50 psid.

As the Full Flow Filter retains contamination, the Pres-

sure Differential Gauge level will rise. Once it reaches
40 psid, the filter needs to be replaced. The change
filter indicator on the control panel will also illuminate to
indicate that the filter needs to be replaced.
