Week 1 (First meeting)

Notes:
o Introduced ourselves to one another
o Exchanged numbers and names and created a What’s App group
o Went to Siezo’s and had a couple of drinks while brainstorming topic ideas.

Week 2 (Second Meeting)

Notes:
o Topic: Dutch Architecture in Rotterdam
o Chair: Bruna
o Secretary: St Cyr
o Treasurer: Austin
o Social activity: Tuesday the 19th at Siezo’s AFTER our normal meeting time around 6:30. Still
come to Ov 4.11 and we will head to Siezo’s after we finish. Everyone brings a couple of
pictures of your hometown/ city to share with the group. We will go around in a circle
sharing stories of where we are from and what makes those places special to us. We are just
using Siezo’s as the meeting point to do this activity.
o We will continue meeting on Tuesdays at 4:45 for the following of the weeks.
o The field Trip will be on March 8th and a time is still to be determined

***Before the social event (Feb. 19 th), chose a building in Rotterdam and text in the what’s app
group what building you have chosen (so there is no overlap) and create about a page of research
on the building.
*** Everyone please read the module guide before next meeting

Week 3 (Third Meeting)

Notes:
o The contract was signed by group members.
o We went to Siezo’s. We all brought photos of our home countries/ cities and shared about
our experiences there.
o We developed a plan of action
o The plan of action will be completed and turned in by St Cyr on February 22nd.
 The written part of the POA will be done by St Cyr. She will send this to Tara and
Ferriel by early afternoon on February 20th, so they are able to create the Gantt
chart.
 The Gantt chart of the POA will be done by Tara and Ferriel. They will send it to St
Cyr before Friday the 22nd, so she can turn it in with the written part.

o Our research topic is Architecture in Rotterdam
o We chose six buildings in Rotterdam to research. Six different members of the group chose
one of the buildings and will conduct a page of research on the building. They will remember
to cite their sources and use APA style. Their final drafts and properly cited sources must
be completed by March 6th. They will then send their completed work to Bruna.

 This introduction should be newsworthy, informative, of academic level and
has to be written in appropriate, correct and well written English. The
introduction requires reading and referencing of academic sources.
 The detailed program will be done by: Maxime

 Must be organized neatly and look professional

 The Field trip document should also be handed out to all participants of the
project team before the fieldtrip starts and also to the independent jury member
and the visiting group at the final presentation.
 These tasks must be completed by March 6th.
o Marta and St Cyr will review the final POA and send it to Bruna to add to the field trip
document on March 6th/ 7th.
o Bruna and Cathleen will review the field trip document before turning it in on March 8th.
o Austin is in charge of taking all of the video footage at the socializing event on 2/19 and on
the field trip on 3/8. He is also in charge of editing the footage together to be presented
nicely during our final presentation.
 Austin make sure you keep the receipts from when we use the credit card.
 Send any photos/ videos from the social event/ field trip to Austin

 Our video must be no longer than 10 minutes long but should be longer than just a
minute… probably a couple of minutes.
o The group presentation will be discussed in week 4 on March 5th. Specific tasks for the
group presentation will be delegated on this day. We will discuss the format of the
presentation and decide who is talking about what and when.
o Everyone must hand their personal reflections to St Cyr in week 6
o The project portfolio will be completed and turned in before March 29th

*** Make sure to check the module book so you know exactly what is required of you and your
task. We want to make sure we cover all of the bases.

Week 4 (Fourth meeting)

***The Field trip document has to be handed in twofold (hard copies) in Ms Schwan´s pigeonhole
on 8 March before 12.00 noon.

Notes:
o Field trip document: everyone assigned a task must complete their portion and send it to
Bruna by this Thursday afternoon (7th) because it must be turned in by Friday at noon.
o Everyone who did a page of research must send Bruna their sheet and sources by Thursday
afternoon as well.
o Field trip is this Friday the 8th @ 1:00, meet at Holland Spoor station.
o We will be discussing the final presentation next Tuesday
o Austin remember to keep the receipts of all the expenses. Also take a lot of videos and
photos of the field trip. Our video can be no longer than 10 minutes but should be a couple
of minutes.

Week 5 (Fifth meeting)

Notes:
o St Cyr is making a google slides document and sharing it with everyone! Everyone please
put your emails in the What’s App group if you haven’t already!
o Everyone in the group must speak during the presentation!
o The presentation needs to be a minimum of 30 minutes long. With that being said, make
sure when it is your turn to talk you can talk for a minimum of two minutes.
o Please double check the google slides document on Monday night to know where your slide
is, so you know for the presentation who you are going to speak after, etc.
o Please email your personal reflection to St Cyr by Wednesday, March 27 th.

Main requirements:
o MC to transition from slide to slide, introduce or group: St Cyr
o An (spoken) introduction, including the motivation of the topic: Cathleen
o Guest students’ views on the topic.
 Each guest student makes a slide about your view on the topic. Compare it to your
architecture at home. Talk about what surprised you. What is different from what
you’re used to, etc.
o An explanation of the distribution of the roles/responsibilities in the team: Bruna
o A YouTube film which reports on the cultural event and on the fieldtrip (max. 10 min.) He
will also explain the video’s not just present them: Austin
o Everyone who did research on a building, make a slide for this, including Maud, you can
discuss your initial research from the introduction.

o A spoken explanation of the objective, how it was worked for and to what extent it was
reached, what went well and what could have gone better (use of PPT is encouraged):
Maxime and Tara. Make sure to touch on all aspects of this bullet point!
o Also include: observations based on the group’s experiences, supported with examples,
reflecting how the group´s (inter) cultural awareness has developed through this project:
what aspects of intercultural competence were demonstrably developed and how (think of:
attitudes: openness, curiosity, respect; knowledge and comprehension: cultural self-
awareness, knowledge and understanding of other cultures. Austin and Maxime. Use this as
our conclusion, to wrap the whole presentation together.
o Everyone, during your slides make sure to also touch on your own personal experience with
the project! Students should present their experiences of working in an intercultural group.
This should include their expectations, stereotyping, difficulties, and reflections on the
intercultural experience of working together. What did you discover, what surprised you
and challenged your views, what aspects were difficult in terms of intercultural
communication and what did you learn from each other?

Week 6 (Sixth meeting)

Final presentation day!!!!
