What I have come to realize is the fact that no one really is perfect when it
comes to controlling urges, and because of that we cannot easily judge a person
just because he or she is experiencing a condition of obsessiveness over
addictive substances like drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, soft drinks, and even coffee.
I am not trying to justify someone’s mistakes or wrong-doings but instead, what
I’m trying to point out is the fact that before I can resolve a problem, I need to
understand first the reason behind why it occurred and why it’s still occurring. I
know for a fact that engaging in matters that might lead to addiction is a very bad
thing not just because of what others has to say about you, but simple because it
can be the main cause of having a fast-paced deteriorating health at some point
in the future. But then in my perception, I believe that the reason why we can’t
completely educate people with problems relating to abuse of substances is not
because we’re incompetent but rather, it’s because they cannot admit to
themselves that they are engaging on something that might lead to their own
downfall.
And that being said, what I want to say before ending my reflection is that
to those who are suffering from addiction, It is never to late to seek for help, It is
never too embarrassing to owe up to your mistakes and actually want to change
for the better, because along the bumpy process of transforming into the best
and cleaner version of yourself, God will constantly guide, protect, and help you
until you’ll be able to say, “I’ve over come it for good, because of God, and for
God.”

Nouveau depart (A French phrase that is translated as “fresh start”) I think is the best way to
describe how I felt about last Saturday.
In addition to that, I also got the chance to reflect about John Wesley’s Core
values (Do all you can, Save all you can, and Give all you can) which are very
simple yet eloquent and enlightening. Through his core values, I have further
understand how important it is to maximize actions and efforts, I have come to a
realization that when a point in time comes that I will be granted the chance to
attain something that will result to goodness, then I should not think twice but
seize the opportunity, and do my very best so that at the end of the day, I will
have no regrets but just lessons learned. As of this moment, I am and I will be
patiently waiting for what the Lord has in store for me, I will make sure that he’ll
always be the center of my life, and that I will always uphold His teachings as
well as the significant values imparted by the Wesleyan University-Philippines.
Up to now, I am still in awe due to the fact that CWTS both discusses matters
concerned in helping the community and in serving the Lord. It was such a
worthwhile and nostalgic experience.
To end my reflection, let me leave this short but soul-touching quotation by John
Wesley,

We are running out of time. The glaciers are melting and in contrast the
temperature in various countries are constantly rising, the number of endangered
species are increasing, and we are experiencing shortage in acquisition of
essential resources. To sum it all up, every single thing that has been happening
have resulted to a sick and deteriorating world, the Earth that was once so pure,
perfect, and beautiful had been neglected and taken for granted, by us humans
whom instead of being responsible stewards of the environment have become
the destroyers of it as well.
Frankly, I am actually lost for words. I do not know exactly how I should
properly express my guilt, rage, longing and sadness at the same time because
admit it or not, human-beings have played and is still playing a notable role in the
gradual ruination of our planet. The Earth is seeking for help, it is asking us
humans that at this critical point of time, It is our turn to give back from what our
world had given and sacrificed for us, it is the time to wake up and realize that we
have a duty and commitment of taking good care of what our Lord God have
provided us with. Moreover, unity and harmony are what we need to implement
first, I strongly believe that in this global crisis, it is only right and just for us to
come and unite together as a solid team.

“That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”
-Neil Armstrong
Have you ever felt that blissful feeling wherein despite of tiredness,
fatigue, and exhaustion, there is a certain tingling sensation that tickles your
heart and soul because you have done something that made you feel fulfilled and
happy? Well If you haven’t, I did feel that feeling and trust me, it was one of the
best feelings humans are capable of feeling in this lifetime.
As I am currently recalling what occurred that day, I can’t help but actually
imagine how exhausted and restless I was, How I originally wanted to just stop
walking and go home because I am out of breath, and how I kept on motivating
myself to not stop because of the fact that all will be worth it and it will be for a
good cause that will benefit a lot of people, and even myself. The fact that a lot of
schools and universities united to walk for the same sincere reason makes me
really happy and overwhelmed. I have realized that maybe most of the time,
humans are too caught up with their own businesses but then at times wherein
they are needed, they will choose to set aside what they are doing to prioritize
what’s more significant. And honestly, seeing my professors and fellow students
walking side by side with gusto and hope in their faces made me feel bad about
myself because I kept on thinking that I can’t do it anymore. Thinking about those
things really motivated me to just continue walking because I have come to
realized that no matter how exhausted I am feeling, t will soon pass and I will be
able to overcome it by having a strong mind, a faithful heart, and a youthful soul.
With all that being said, I think what I have experienced during the Alay-
Lakad should serve as a lesson and as a reminder that at the end of the day, we
should all keep our heads held high, our hearts strong, and our minds focused
because our problems, hardships, and difficulties shall pass soon. 😊
