Applicator Hold-Down Set Up 408-35001

1. THIS PROCEDURE IS USED TO SET UP A HOLD-DOWN BUMPER ON AN OCEAN APPLICATOR.

1. Screw the Hold-Down Bumper up to the


highest position as shown in Figure 2.
2. Determine the wire crimp height for the
largest wire size by crimping terminals in the
applicator.
3. Lower the applicator ram by hand to bottom
dead center for the largest wire size.
4. Adjust Hold-Down Bumper down until it just
makes contact or minimal clearance with the
terminal body (see Figure 3).
5. Tighten Hex Nut in position, as shown in
Figure 3.
6. Crimp terminal, check for bend, and adjust
accordingly.
7. Inspect for damage to the terminal body, and
adjust accordingly.
8. Repeat steps for other wire sizes.

1. Partially thread the M4 Socket Head Cap


Screws into the holes shown in Figure 4.
2. Slide the Steel Hold-down onto the partially
installed M4 Socket Head Cap Screws and
seat the top surface against the applicator
ram.
3. Firmly tighten the two Socket Head Cap
Screws while ensuring that the Steel Hold-
down is seated against the applicator ram
surface (see Figure 5).
4. Crimp terminal, check for bend, and adjust
accordingly.
5. Inspect for damage to the terminal body, and
adjust accordingly.
6. Repeat steps for other wire sizes.

1. Obtain the correct hold-down setup dimension


from the Applicator Log Sheet hold-down setup
section. This dimension is different for each
applicator.
2. Remove the Applicator Ram from the housing
and loosen the Spring Loaded Hold-down Hex
Nut (See Figure 7)
3. Adjust the Hold-down Setup Dimension (see
Figure 8) by using a wrench to turn Hold-down
Guide Pin 2 (Figure 7).
4. Use calipers or a gage block to measure the
proper Hold-down Setup Dimension (Figure 8).
5. Once the proper Hold-down Setup Dimension is
achieved, tighten the Hex Nut against the
Terminal Hold Down as shown in Figure 8.
6. Crimp terminal, check for bend, and adjust
accordingly.
7. Inspect for damage to the terminal body, and
adjust accordingly.
8. Repeat steps for other wire sizes. Figure 9
