Spelling Rule Exceptions for a Suffix: Drop the Final E

A suffix is a a letter or group of letters that is added to a word to change the


meaning or make a word into another type of word, such as a noun into an
adjective. Some common suffixes are -er, -est, -ful, and -able. When a word
ends in e, we often drop the e before we add the suffix.
Examples:
wide widest (not wideest) move advisable (not adviseable)

Add the suffix in parenthesis to each of the following words.
